I have the basic plastic $20 CableMod cable and it is working OK. None of the nicer sleeved "Pro" cables were available. Which type do you have? I have a sleeved Pro version on order.

Nope, I use the  BE QUIET! 12VHPWR PCI-E ADAPTER CABLE launched for my PSU. And have now ordered a second one for the HOF card. Need two of them🙂

Yep, you are correct bro Fox, but I feel I get some more value back from Galax than from Asus anyway. And this card should be easy to  sell in the second hand market later. + I have never looked on cards like 4080 and SKUs below in the 4xxx linup.. Its what it is. This was the only option I had. Paying etc 1500$+ and upwards for a Asus 4080 or equals custom AIC cards would be pure stupidity.

hmm... i beleive you can shave around 30% more which in turns should effect your bench results few clicks north,

while benching i was running latest Win11 with 47-48 process at idle (and that's on a laptop),

tm.thumb.jpg.8e0529310727785c52ba6c302b41ca78.jpg

this is from right now my current idle which I still consider extremally liberal for none benching,
i left few windows gadgets running in the background like weather, spotlight, search, even windows updates is running within that scope, and few standalone executable running continues task (ThrottleStop.exe, TopRight.exe moves incoming alerts back to the top right corner etc., this is not a custom or stripped windows11 image it is off the shelf latest available win11 22H2 build downloaded from MS)

idle.jpg

the easiest way to go about it is to grab Autoruns tool from Sysinternals
go to services tab, from the options menu select to unhide microsoft and windows entries and go to town, you're an advanced user most entries there will make sense to you just by their name and description, also check autoruns tasks tab you can disable allot of MS nonsense tasks there,

some services may not play ball while in normal environment, but most will once you're in safe mode jump to the registry entry take ownership, grant yourself ownership and full permissions, then restore ownership to original state, and set the service to disable,

i like to use BlackViperScript which is based on an old tool that helps setting most services based on a custom profile or predefined one, makes it easy way to restore services to desired state after new install with just few clicks, or just move to a tighter service profile and back with few clicks,

I've seen this motherboard. What I find funny is that Intel is still using I225-LM (likely B3) as the standard controller instead of the I226. This confirms Intel knows there is a hardware issue with I226. Workstations require stability over everything else.

I am not certain EVGA is going to join the fray on this platform. The SR-3 Dark didn't sell well at all, because it was so late to release. Surprisingly, the Gigabyte C621 Aorus Xtreme was the best board out of the Asus, EVGA and Gigabyte C621/C622 overclocking mobos for stability. At least that is what the common theme I saw when I purchased a 3175X and was waiting for a mobo to become available.

Yep, I like them and I like such features. Reminds me about the Fn+1 combo for my Clevo😀 Regarding the apps. I don't think Galax apps will works properly on other cards. Todays' modern tech as you know. Once nvidia get rid of Galax in the same way as they did with EVGA.... All we have left is Gamer toy cards with even more fancy back-plates and more ARGB bling bling lights over the whole card. I want a good fashion card now for the future. The future looks grim for next gen high end AIC cards. It will go the way it went for laptops. No more avesome... Only fancy bling bling.

See what popped up in my email today. Got notice that the White and the black 4090 Strix OC could be ordered (1 card for each customer). The White version went rigth out and was empty. But I could put the black in my basket. For the first time since November I was able to buy it. Amazing, 4.5 hours after the notify and the shop still have the cards in. And I have waited several months and empty before I reached the buy button.

And they also give a way a free $20 Asus mouse. Why not just scrap the freebee and instead reduce the price for the cards? But I expect this is the way Asus deal with it's customers. No need for a mouse... We need cheaper cards.

I will keep the 4090 HOF I ordered. The design and features grow on me. + Galax use none RGB fans. I hate RGB fans. And from what I know... The HOF card will be easier to sell in the used market here home and in EU (almost none of these cards is possible to buy). And white custom AIC cards will be more and more popular. My youngest and oldest son went with it (white chassis, and want same theme all over). Same for many of their friends.

Asus had their chance, but couldn't deliver. Its' on their. Not on me. And I had the money ready. I wonder why Asus never was able to produce enough of their better cards. Prefered throw out their cheaper gamer cards for maxed profits?

Yes there is an issue with i-226.

I think an SR-4 would do okay since it would come out in the beginning of the product cycle, not to mention the 24-core 64L is similar to X299 10980XE platform, whereas the 36-56-core 112L is similar to 3175X/C621/622 platform. The good news is, they share the same socket and can be interchanged this time around.

I am assuming enthusiast boards would have 8 total DIMMs (can do either 4-channel or 8-channel depending on cpu choice). The SuperMicro is a server board so it would be nice to see the enthusiast grade ones.

If you can get the XOC vBIOS and app from Galax let's try it with my Suprim and see what happens. You never know. There were things that were not supposed to work like the Kingpin vBIOS and Classified tool did work with my shunt modded 2080 Ti FTW3. The KPE vBIOS worked great and even the Classified tool increased the voltage. The sliders did not work on the Classified tool, but simply launching it caused the voltage max to increase. I used the voltage curve tool with MSI Afterburner to trick it into going higher. I will take the extra GPU core voltage any way it can get it.  I think you have to contact Galax to get it with proof of ownership of the HOF card, just as the only way you could get the XOC vBIOS and Classified tool for EVGA was to email Vince and provide your EVGA invoice and serial number. I am using the 666W HOF vBIOS right now. I think they may have a 1000W HOF XOC vBIOS for the 4090. The 2000W HOF XOC vBIOS also worked fine on my 2080 Ti FTW3.

I think you made the right decision. I am glad that the Strix GPU was never available and you ended up with the HOF. I believe you are going to be better off  in every way with the HOF. I have heard Galax warranty service sucks, but we already know that is true of ASUS. I doubt Galax is worse than ASUS. QC from ASUS is also terrible. Galax did not get the reputation they have by selling sloppy broken garbage like ASUS does.

The cards have already all sold out (no surprise here) due to hungry gamers finally getting good prices for a GPU. $420 for a new Founders Edition RTX 3080 is a pretty good price. That's basically where it should've been at this point in time given it's now a last gen card.

Just wait. People have spoken with their wallets and are refusing to buy GPUs at current ridiculous prices. Prices will come down. I like seeing things unfold the way they should. Poor sales will improve once prices are no longer sky high. I guess it takes a while for that fact to be realized.

Them prices doe. 2495x isn't too bad I guess. Similar to old 7980XE/9980XE pricing

OK, so looks like you would need a w7-3445 to beat a 13900K.

Clearly, Rocket Lake represents extremely good value, the main limitation being RAM capacity available to a single CPU.

For a price of a single w7-3495X you could have a farm of 13900Ks that would decimate it in terms of memory bandwidth and pure compute power, except in use cases that do rely on huge amounts of RAM available to a huge CPU. Very niche stuff, although looking at it from the energy efficiency or space perspective does improve the picture. Different story on the server side of course, where you can't use consumer-grade chips (that I heard of).

And when will that be? :)

You can still buy a good selection of brand new 20xx'es.

I saw this earlier.

Basically AMD sweet spot (as reported even by AMD at launch) is ~6000. It can't really go over and under at 5200 it suffers serious performance loss.

On the other hand, Intel beats it low, mid  or high and can continue to scale up to 8000 and still experience performance gains (as indicated with the 7200 memory scores) further separating itself from AMD chips.

I'm hoping X3D chips give AMD that punch they need like the 5800X3D did but hopefully we don't suffer dips when the cache was full/exhausted to the extent the 5800X3D can in certain scenarios. I'm thinking the 7800X3D is going to be the single chiplet killer of the group at a good price.

Got notice that the White and the black 4090 Strix OC could be ordered (1 card). The White version went rigth out and was empty. But I could put the black in my basket. For the first time since November I was able to buy it. Amazing, 4.5 hours after the notify and the shop still have the cards in.

And they also give a way a free $20 Asus mouse. Why not just scrap the freebee and instead reduce the price for the whole card?

You definitely made the right call keeping the HOF. I don't know who's more excited you or I lol. 🙂

Asus can kick rocks.

That would be great if the HOF vBIOS would work on the Suprim. It will be interesting to see the results unfettered, blocked with one of the most robust (if not thee most robust) PCBs of all the consumer cards.

4090 still keep it's value... Well above MSRP. Only Nvidia can change this. They could flood the market with 4090FE and kill off their AIC partner. But don't want that for now. They need them to sell their overpriced lower-Mid end SKUs as 4080 and below.

RTX 4090 still averaged more than $2,000, but some of that is skewed by sales of "rare" models that command higher prices. The RTX 4080 dropped 9% and averaged just slightly higher prices than the official MSRP. RTX 4070 Ti meanwhile averaged $910, 14% above the base MSRP, but many of the custom cards retail for $900 and more

And who in their right mind would buy a 3080@10GB graphics card now and with the old fake FPS boost feature that will be forgotten by Nvidia? They hate support EOL cards. I can only see the 3090(Ti) make sense. And only if you get it to the correct price. Well below the 4070Ti  price point.

This is now. Only from 16 GB you are really carefree...

If this was $600, then run and buy...

qk3EiKEnbv5RncTdSKJiDi-970-80.jpg

This below is pervers. 3090 still priced right below the cheapest 4090 AIC cards here home. And I expect people still buy it at those prices. The only advantage is you can use it with older Windows. But why this card if you are a gamer, run Win 7 and want to play newer games? The cheapest used 3090 here home in the used market is around $1100 (remember all cards here home is normally 30% more expensive than U.S). As a footnote... 4070Ti cost $970 USD here home. Or about $775 without the tax.

22500,- Nok = $2,204 United States Dollar. And "Elkjop" is Noways biggest Electronic Store.

Yep, to you both. But no gurantee that I'll get a good Hof card. Lottery there as well. And this is not very limited OC Lab version the Elite get for free with all the OC tools, XOC_vbios and bells.

But I intend to have the card many years (I usually buy older cheper cards so i know what value people will see in used cards). Aka easier to sell. Lets take the used olde Lighning cards from MSI. If tose is offered on the used market it will be auction or the one that pay most. And they fly out. So second hand value is something I know how works and I know others think in the same way as me.

I will do bro Fox. But as you know... The Elite clinge on their tools and XOC vbios. Even if you ask the support nice kindly and kindly, they don't bother answer back. This is what I have seen people say. and one of the reasons they try get help from the Elite in hwbot forum without getteing a single reply back. Have to see what happens. But if one of you later find the Galax tools and/or the XOC_bios I would like to know. I will do the same back for you bro Fox or you others in this forum.
