For every scalper there are probably at least 1,000 idiots waiting in line to validate the scalper's existence. As long as there are so many stupid people happily flushing their money down the toilet, scalpers will thrive.

Isn't it an interesting coincidence, both of their user names carry an association with being shady or dishonest?

human_slinky and snakeeyes?

Or... maybe it is not a coincidence...

Yup, he is selling an average USED (not even new) 13900KS for an above-average scalper price. Shamefully dishonest. I wonder how many people will see the advertised SP rating and not know it is average? I think many may automatically assume that identification of the SP rating means it is special, even though it is not.

Even the SP rating can be manipulated by flashing a different BIOS version. My SP rating on the 13900KF in the Apex board increases with the buggy new v2305 firmware, and goes down using an older stable firmware version.

Update. Some good news on AW17 R1 Ranger.

I removed the MXM altogether and ran the machine for 24Hrs+ and yest night I did not shut the PC and kept it powered on. So no shutdown or powercut or throttling. It went on, downloading p2p for whole night. Still did not shut down and kept it running, now going to see for next 24hours.

If that is the case going forward then - I think it's MXM GPU failing in requesting power draw through MXM PCIe slot ? Is that possible, because irrespective of Power draw it fails, like starting a Heaven Bench does not cause it to shut down immediately nor playing Dota2 can cause, but rather can occur anytime on idle or downloading something or watching movie, and even happens if the GPU is not used but just connected to MXM slot itself on SG Mode using IGPU only. So I suspect there's some electronic failure on the MXM VRMs over the time which causes it to fail, any ideas..?

I think brother @Tenoroon's generous offer would help me in testing it out for one final test, to use his 860M and check if it's the MXM Slot or 980M MXM GPU. And if it's MXM GPU, then I'll be very happy as no mobo replacement required and can just try to get either Dell Quadro P5000 or HP Quadro P5200 MXM as replacement.

On an another note, finally the Cablemod order is complete and got the email for FedEx it is right now in China.

That 860m has been all over the country at this point lol

That's good news. At least now we know the motherboard is at least mostly usable.

Given the information you provided, my next guess is the power delivery on the GTX 980m MXM board is toast. It's more likely that the power delivery on the MXM board itself has crapped out than the power delivery on the MXM slot itself. I've sparked the MXM slot on my Alienware 17 before while performing my GTX 1060 upgrade about 5 years ago (silly me, I forgot to disconnect the battery), and the slot (and GPU, whew) was still fine afterward.

Did you ever shunt mod your 980m?

I think the same, assuming it has gone bad since the black screening and causing some kind of trip off. I ran the machine for 48 hours now without getting any shut off issue.

I loaded the CPU to max, by playing Dota2 with iGPU Intel HD 4600 + the usual 3.3GHz clockrate with undervolt that has been stable for years. Surprised the game engine Source is so optimized even after all these years it runs on the Intel HD outdated chip from 2013. So 70C-75 max on CPU package with that kind of load. And did not have shut off, it has some hiccups while loading the game initially before a match, but it's lack of the GPU and CPU esp the MQ chip's VRM limitations, not the powercut issue. And ofc ran the machine again for whole night for p2p download. This confirms that CPU VRMs are not at fault at the very least, and the power delivery for the CPU as a whole from DC Jack line in.

As for the 980M GPU... If you recall, I created that 980M Blackscreen thread back at NBR and had over 100 pages of discussion on how poorly these were made, unfortunately I did not get the MOSFETs added to the GPU. As for Shuntmod, nope. The card just had Prema vBIOS but it was hot at higher voltage so I use Svl7+Johnksss version.  So maybe the whole Blackscreening got worse and fried something on the VRMs that is doing this kind of issue, fingers crossed all the way hoping its not the MXM slot power delivery.

For the Sparks thing, I remember when I plugged a new battery the port was having sparks but the machine and battery worked for long time, hope this AW 17 R1 is as resilient as other Rangers that still live.

The GPU Reactor add on card is maybe an gimick but if this feature (have blue lights) is less flashy than the new and modern bling bling RGB puke show I can nice live with that🙂 And from what I have read, the gpu reactor reduce the voltage drop with 10mv so it can help stability with maxed clocks..

I think I have 16 or 17 left. But not sure. Killed two of them the last year... The 1070 (a very good clocker) and the Gainward GTX 570 (My honest opinion - Gainward is trash). I would avoid this brand. They are still in business with 4xxx series cards. Yep I won't buy anything from this brand anymore. Nothing special with this brand.

I just love seeing old hardware smashed against the 13900k... 🙂 It leaves nothing on the table. 🙂

OHHHH YEAH!!!! Looking forward to the results and congrats!

Best 7900XTX on the market IMHO.

Came home for lunch picked it up, installed it. . Tried to install the new radeon driver again. Got the blue line of death again. May need to reinstall Windows.

I'm one of those, "new GPU new install" or at least a Macrium GPU less OS restore kinda enthusiasts. I like my GPUs to have a fresh and shiny OS install all to their own. 😁

It seems AMD also being stingy...  AMD’s Radeon RX 7600 (XT) will follow the same path. What a disgusting coparation between the green stingy leaterman and the liar lady Su.. I wonder whom talk with whom under development/finishing of their product stack. Remember AMD already know very well what Nvidia GPU they should compare aginst before the realese of 7000 Radeon. Price wise as well performance.

Only God know how many GPU installs (15-20 different cards) I have done on my 6-8 different OS's the last years. I never ever see this. Even with my AMD card😎 It just works.

Great results! How’s the Apex treating you? I think not bad for the money! It’s like only $699.99 compared to the Z790 Dark $799.99.

I’m loving mine man, especially with these 2x24GB dimms. Stabilizing 8200 on air cooling was a walk in the park with only 1.350V. Passes right through Ant777 extreme. I’m not quite done yet, I’ve just been too busy this week for any serious tuning.

I may be able to get 8400 on air cooling. This is hopeful thinking. But these 2x24 sticks don’t run quite as tight timings as traditional 2x16 kits, so faster speeds are much easier I think.

Jufes rambling about AMD.  @Mr. Fox From 16:10 or just see the whole video. But I don't think you will be more tempted going with the Red's HW forwards😀 MVP =.........
