And we now are getting Meteor Lake for desktop 2024....

With a ho hum 14th gen "refresh"  and nothing from AMD, Intel or Nvidia on the horizon, settle in and enjoy your hardware. 🙂

Intel "Meteor Lake" will not be an option for home-built computers

Intel's promise of Core 14000 "Meteor Lake" for desktops turns out to be mainly about soldered processors for ready-made systems.

Nice. Intel in Microsoft's pocket.... Microsoft try everything to push you over on the latest and greatest. How much did they pay Intel? Maybe payback time because Microsoft pushed harder HW requirements for Win 11? Right in time before new motherboards come with Wi-Fi 7 support. Nice, Microsoft and it's partners deviver. Always on schedule.

Windows 10 won't support the blistering new Wi-Fi 7

Windows 10 is still the most used operating system, but it won't support the next-gen Wi-Fi 7 technology.

In this context, Netgear stresses that Microsoft has indicated that it will not backport 6 GHz support to Windows 10. So even if you have a 6 GHz-capable network adapter installed in your computer, if your PC is using Windows 10, you will not be able to use 6 GHz Wi-Fi until you upgrade to Windows 11.

In other words, since Windows 10 doesn’t support the 6 GHz frequency band, but 6 GHz is mandatory for Wi-Fi 7, Windows 10 can’t handle Wi-Fi 7

Deliberate. Just like the previous lies. Windows 7 doesn't support DX12, rebar, pure UEFI, WiFi 6, Intel HD Graphics, Ray Tracing... all absolute and unadulterated lies and bull crap. They don't ALLOW it because they must control and force their agenda. Poo-poo cah-cah. That's why Linux is the better solution, even when it isn't the best solution. Proprietary Nazi crap.

Classic planned obsolescence. They can't just flat out cancel and abandon a previous OS like they want so forced migration by a thousand cuts....(See: XP)

Okay, that’s great. My experience with them has been, you place your order, your items will be shipped within 3 days. Then we start counting, and have these time frames on shipping.

Standard international shipping= 20 days.

Express international shipping = 10 days.

They don't come with any pads? Dang. Glad I have a bunch of extras. Does it say to use 0.5mm pads or did you measure? Did you already get your heat sinks off of the G.SKILL modules? I haven't done mine yet. Will soak them in laquer thinner like I did the last ones. The adhesive comes off easy that way.

The O-Rings on the terminal for my 3090 Kingpin Hydro Copper block are called the EKWB 14x1mm, I randomly ordered some EKWB seals, and I found the right size on my own. Coincidentally, the same exact size used in the Supercool memory waterblocks too. This size seems to be a standard for many inlet/outlets for PC blocks. That’s great!

Anyways, I’m not gonna take apart my GPU again, just to replace its seals with new ones lol. (I’m good) lol it’s sealed and leak tested anyways. Plus it’s not like they went bad, my dumb self just lost one to begin with. 😂 anyways, I HAVE SPARES and ai know what they are!!! Yay.

That's good to know. It makes sense that most, if not all, are using the same size o-rings. It would keep production costs down if everyone was using a common o-ring and not having a proprietary part manufactured for the various cooling components.

It’s so beautiful!!

@Mr. Fox I used a firm high M/kw 0.5MM thermal pad on each memory IC. Then a 1.0MM lower M/kw super soft green thernal

pad for the PMIC. I then put a tiny dab of my best thermal paste on each IC, and the PMIC as well. My ram sticks are lined up PERFECTLY!!! I was amazed how perfect it was.

I have not even hooked up water yet. But they are running nice and COOL already with no cold water!! 🙂

I did not peel off the double sided sticky tape on the back side of ram part yet. I left that so I can slide the ram and line it up as needed, so it’ll slot in my board all together as 1 piece.

I have no thermal pads on the back side at all. I don’t think it needs any. It has a 0.5mm padded foam for adhesive. Leave the plastic adhesive cover on, so you can slide your ram once it’s all together. You’ll see.

I love them.

TEMPS: (Temps have not gone past 34.5C in Starfield, and this is with NO water hooked up at all. 😂 EDIT: Temps are actually dropping as the thermal pads and thermal paste squishes. I’m down to 33C now max in game. Unlike my 3090 Kingpin, I assembled these ram sticks/pads/paste cold. I’m loving this.

Perfect. As I mentioned in our text yesterday, just having the jackets and block will lower the temps tremendously. It shows how HORRIBLE the garbage stock heatsinks heating blankets are. It is totally inexcusable how lousy the stock ones work/don't work.

Did you have any difficulty getting the stock heatsinks off the Trident modules? Did you use paint thinner to soften the adhesives?

Not my first choice but this just show how overpriced the new premium MB from Asus, Msi, Gigabyte has become. None of the best MB should cost a cent above 400-500$. Today you often have to pay above 1000$ or the double for the mb from mentioned brands above.

Nope. Not me. Unless it turns out to be significantly improved it is too expensive for what seems like an extremely modest bump in clocks. Seems like a poor value for anyone that owns a decently binned 13900KS. If you draw a short straw in the lottery, it might not be as good.

Nope. Not me. Unless it turns out to be significantly improved it is too expensive for what seems like an extremely modest bump in clocks. Seems like a poor value for anyone that owns a decently binned 13900KS. If you draw a short straw in the lottery, it might not be as good.

I have heard they are gonna run +300Mhz better than an average 13900K and that’s before delidding. So, almost everyone of these is probably gonna knock back 5.9Ghz on a cheap 360MM AIO. Once you delid, and throw it on custom water we’re talking fast speeds for any of them. Then we’ll have better E-Cores, and a better IMC, better ring.

I think (6.1Ghz-6.3Ghz) all cores on an average sample can be expected with direct die and custom loop.

@Mr. Fox On another note, now that my rams are cold to the touch. I can actually run a proper stress test. I never wasted my time with it before. (Memory is so sensitive to heat) I have removed a massive problem in the equation, with these supercool blocks lol. Running DDR5 8600c40 Anta777Extreme for 29 minutes so far with testmem5 😁

Sweet. What voltage are you using now? Can you share a HWiNFO64 memory timing screenshot, like this?

1.500 MEM VDD

1.450 MEM VDDQ

1.320 IVR TX

1.420 IMC CPU

SA Auto 1.332V

Cpu voltage is auto with LLC#1

I these are pretty loose timings mostly auto, but I can share them.

How do I pull that window up @Mr. Fox

I will probably use that on the Precision turdbook the next time I have it apart. The CPU is running way too hot with KPX on it.

I had seen lots of posts and examples of how PTM7950 improved thermals on turdbooks that are otherwise untamable. I got some on Amazon for my Precision and I have to tell you that it's 100% true. It dropped my maximum core temps under load by approximately 15°C. I'm not kidding. @ryan

I was seeing 95-100°C CPU package temps playing BFV with KPx and now see only about 80°C running an AIDA64 or OCCT stress test. Putting it in the freezer for a half hour prior to installation makes it easier to apply without destroying it.

This is very similar to the improvement seen for a desktop CPU delid. I'm very impressed and pleased with the result.

I put it on the Quadro P5000 as well. It was not overheating before and didn't really need any help with thermals but it also dropped the GPU core temps about 5°C.

I'm thinking about using this to see if it helps with the ludicrous hotspot temps on the 6900 XT.

I might even try it just for giggles on the bare die application on one of my desktops to see how it compares to liquid metal in that scenario. Given the fact that laptops are a bare die application it might perform surprisingly well.
