Set all the zones to black, then restart your laptop and see if that helps with your issue. If I remember correctly, when you first launch this program, it will ask you something about configuring the zones. Select D_LED1 Bottom, D_LED2 Top, and Motherboard as your zones that you'll be modifying the colors for. Zone breakdown: Zone D_LED1 Bottom is the light bar at the back of the laptop. Zone D_LED2 Top is the keyboard. Zone Motherboard is the two lights on the sides of the laptop. 1 AlienyHackbook: Alienware M17X R5 | i7-4930MX | GTX 1060 | 32GB DDR3L Kingston HyperX @ 2133 MHz CL 12 | MacOS Sierra 10.12.5 | Windows 10 LTSC | Hackintoshes Rule! crossshot
I can only talk about my problems: - system is not stable; from time to time the system shutdown without any visible reason (event viewer only detect and uncontrolled shutdown) - problems with Nvidia driver (bought Forza Horizion 5 - it crashed more than 8 times in 2 hours) - its very loud - its very hot - battery is more an UPS as a battery for mobile working - the two power supplys are not comfortable (heavy and big) and you NEED both of them. The notebook don't charge/work with only one of it For me, there is no reason to buy it. A XMG Pro 17 is faster with i9-12900H and RTX 3080Ti 16GB. It can't handle 128GB of RAM and has "only" M.2 slot, but its the better choise in my opinion. 1 Clevo X170KM-G // BIOS Clevo 1.07.08 // EC 1.07.04 Intel Core i9-11900K with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme 64GB (2x32GB) Patriot 3200Mhz DDR4 Nvidia RTX 3080 Laptop 16GB with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut Extreme 17.3" UHD 4k 60Hz display (calibrated full AdobeRGB) System Win11: 2TB Samsung Pro 980 NVMe SSD System Win10: 2TB Kingston KC3000 NVMe SSD Data: 2TB Samsung Evo 970 NVMe SSD VMware: 1TB Samsung 980 NVMe SSD
Clamibot
I was originally going to get the KM-G model but decided to get the SM-G model with Premamod from zTecpc since I saw a good deal on it. I'm glad to see I made the right choice since there seems to be nothing but complaints about the KM-G model. I have been quite happy with the 10850K in my X170 with all memory slots and 3 out of 4 storage slots in use. CPU performance has obviously improved in leaps and bounds with Alder Lake and regarding single core also with Rocket Lake so there is no denying that a half decent laptop with a 12900H should give equal or better CPU performance. As for the other issues of being loud, hot and having short battery life that also applies to the SM-G version. The same goes for the assinine power supply design that forces us to always drag these two power supplies with us for no good reason except that Clevo was very very stupid when designing this power delivery train wreck. ViktorV
Guys, all the best! Repost from our Clevo group. One of the group members ran Optimus on x170km-g, so it's possible. "After manipulating the unlocked bios from the dream machine, I managed to run nvidia optimus on x170-KM 😁! At first I thought that I would have to switch video cards manually (using windows settings), but the system worked as it should. Windows automatically switches cards based on load. In games, a discrete is connected, and in idle mode and in office tasks, the video core built into the processor works. There was even an optimus icon in the tray, which correctly shows which of the vidyuhi is working at a certain moment. Switching between vidyuhi, surprisingly happens smoothly and without crutches. Also, when a monitor is connected via HDMI, a discrete card automatically starts working and the signal from it goes directly to the monitor. When working through the laptop's built-in display, the video signal from the discrete goes through the processor core, which may lead to a slight performance degradation. G-SYNC technology, of course, will not work with optimus turned on." 2 Сlevo p870tm1-g 17.3 Fhd 300Hz i9-10980hk ES rtx3060. / Clevo x170smg 17.3 300Hz i9-10850k rtx2070super 32g ddr4 3200Mhz Gskill. / Clevo x170kmg 17.3 2k 165Hz i5-11600k rtx3080 32g ddr4 3200Mhz Hyper-X. Looks VERY interesting for some of us who actually want to use their X170KM-G away from the power outlet from time to time. Again I am puzzled why Clevo would not offer it as a stock option like other manufacturers do, just make the default Optimus off and the performance would be the same as without the option. Makes it even harder to respect them given the broken and limited bios they ship these with.

I love this laptop, but I really would like better battery life from it, cause you know the point of laptops is to be able to use them away from a power outlet for a significant amount of time. Given that there is an iGPU present on the system, there isn't any reason to not use it when on the go. You just proved it can be done. Aww man. Thanks for letting me know though. That's very strange that Clevo included a MUX and the traces to the iGPU only on the KM-G model but never made use of the MUX. You'd think it would be present on both the SM-G and KM-G. Regardless, it makes no sense as to why this capability was never utilized. The point is most likely that Clevo is mostly a platform developer for other companies than the manufacturer, so perhaps this platform was developed with the maximum layout options, that is, they wanted to make the most versatile platform, but apparently something went wrong and they did not continue to refine the software part. 1 Сlevo p870tm1-g 17.3 Fhd 300Hz i9-10980hk ES rtx3060. / Clevo x170smg 17.3 300Hz i9-10850k rtx2070super 32g ddr4 3200Mhz Gskill. / Clevo x170kmg 17.3 2k 165Hz i5-11600k rtx3080 32g ddr4 3200Mhz Hyper-X.
