Yes I noticed the pull tabs. Be careful with those as well since they break easily. I used those along with the hinge clamps as guides to properly orient the screen during reinstallation.

Just disconnect the power cables and the battery and you'll be set. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to disconnect the screen cable without breaking the screen until you've sawed away the adhesive strips and removed the screen.

Thanks for the tips, will have my trusty isopropyl ready just incase along with my spluggers.

As for the screen cable it is a shame as it means i have to remove the screen before i can test the new screen.

Just the connectors.

I have done some searching and can't even find out what they are called properly.

Update on screen:

So the parcel arrived early and with in 30 minutes and one broken adhesive tab later the new screen is in.

Brightness control works as does the 165hz the only thing I lost was G-Sync it would seem as the ending of the panel I got was NY6 and not NY2 it is what it is.

So it will do for now till I can get hold of a NY2 version or BIOS is updated to include NY6 for G-Sync.

Update 2: might be sending panel back, all games have a flickering issue as well as all textures have a glossy texture to them not sure what's causing that issue. Uninstalled the GPU driver too issue is still present.

Even with the issues how does it compare to your old display?

Funny enough i have managed to solve the issue by reseting to EDP cable. The 1440p 165hz screen compared to the 1080p 144hz is night and day. Not only is the colours accurate and pops but the 165hz is a blessing.

I mean on the 1080p screen on Caldera i couldn't see for jack due to the muted colours but now its crisp and sharp with the colours being correct. I mean Yellow is Yellow, Green is Green and Red simply pops. Not to mention the 1000:1 Contrast ratio means blacks are blacks not dark grey like on the 1080p.

All i am waiting for is Nvidia to add the panel to the G-Sync section in the driver to get G-Sync back, which if what i was told by the seller where the NY2 Version is now low on stock shouldn't be long i don't think.

Either that or i use this screen temp and then find the NE173QHM-NY2 screen.

Does anyone have a part number for the 2 DC connectors that plug into the Clevo?

This DC connector is most widely known as the MSI or Chichony rectangle plug/connector/tip. There are currently only 5 laptop models that use the 230 watt or 280 watt PSU with this adapter tip, all of which are either from MSI or Clevo. The best I can do is give you the part number for the 280 watt power supply, which is a18-280p1a. I couldn't find a part number for the actual adapter tip itself, but hopefully this information helps with the search.

Here are all the known names for the DC connector based on terms I've seen mentioned by individuals and vendors:

- MSI rectangle plug/connector/tip

- MSI rectangular plug/connector/tip

- Chichony rectangle plug/connector/tip

- Chichony rectanglular plug/connector/tip

- Clevo rectangle plug/adapter/tip

- Clevo rectangular plug/adapter/tip

- MSI square adapter tip

- Chichony square adapter tip

- Clevo square plug

- USB square plug

- Rectangle3

Hopefully this gives you new search terms you can use to find the part number. The last one (Rectangle3) is the most interesting one as it appears to be a manufacturer code name.

The problem is not the revision of the matrix, these 2k 165Hz matrices do not work with G-sync at x170smg / kmg

Hello everyone. My x170km-g doesn't have prema mod and has the Clevo bios (which doesn't allow any tuning). Since a while the power limit throttling is always turned on (I use intel xtu) and the cpu doesn't reach the clock speed I set in the profile. How can I solve this situation?

no Prema on this thing. You have the latest bios? fans & vents are clean? using how many memory slots?

Hi ViktorV, looking at panel lookup it states the NY2 does have G-Sync, only NY1, NY3, NY4, NY5, NY6 doesn't as they are missing features on what NY2 has.

I could of got the NY2 from PCS but they didn't want to send the screen to me instead they wanted me to send the complete system to them which is 2 Weeks sitting there before being worked on then screen swap and tests before sending back. For something that was a 30 minute job. I did instruct the eBay seller if they didn't have NY2 screen in stock to simply refund but they totally ignored that bit.

Hello! I installed a 2k 165Hz matrix on my x170kmg with NY2 revision and I can say for sure that G-sync does not work with this matrix at x170kmg, G-sync is supported only on 1920 * 1080 240 and 300 hertz matrices. Based on this, you should not be nervous and look for a matrix with revision NY2))), you can safely enjoy the one you already have. And I strongly doubt that the lack of G-sync support somehow affects, I didn’t notice any gaps and jumps in the picture, everything goes smoothly and synchronously.

Clevo control center is literally shit!!! I've unistalled it and now all works fine without power limit throttling...

Dream Machine made a modified CCC, it works much better, and they also fixed an old problem related to fan control that caused the laptop to turn off with the inability to start it further from the power button, only remove the battery and put it back in place, after that the laptop started up again as expected but only until the next emergency shutdown.

https://disk.yandex.ru/d/otRpfuGMtOe9Tw  Here is a modified CCC from Dream Machine version 3.75X, who has the above problem try to install, but before installing this version you need to completely remove the old version of CCC including the remaining folders on the disk.

Completely remove this intel xtu, a rather nasty software that breaks the operating system by making registry changes and so on. Better use the Quick CPU or Throttle Stop software to configure the processor.

According to XMG their QHD panels support G-Sync, maybe you could reach out to them on Reddit.

Hi guys

Anyone know where to get another power adapter module (bracket) mine broke in transit?  Yep gone crazy and bought the X170KM from XMG to replace my X170SM!

Also do the KM amd SM share the same power adapters?  They seem the same...

Yeah they will replace for free under warranty, hopefully it doesn't count against me too much if I actually have an issue with the laptop itself.
