My custom M4800

Recommended Posts

This is my daily driver, it went through a lot of stuff, I never used a laptop as a daily driver before.
I've got it for cheap (200€), because the seller was open about damage that this laptop has (it is mostly cosmetic).

You did one hell of a good job getting it back together working. 🙂 You can bung in an mSATA for a third storage medium if you desired. Although mSATA has become a little harder to get but I have a Kingston 240GB in mine.

That's a great idea, I agree, hopefully I will manage to find LA-9772P motherboard one day, because it is a budget build, I think the best way is to find someone who has a broken laptop, so I can get it for cheap (to rock that 120 Hz GSYNC display). I also think about replacing fans with some Delta fans.

You using the T400 series Kingston?  I highly recommend them. I have around a dozen of them between 240 and 960gb. I have 2 in my workstation, one in my wife's notebook and one in my sons 2 notebooks. Plus a few extra.  Cheap as chips and plenty speedy for a sata.

Workstation - Dell XPS 8940 - desktop creative powerhouse

Mobile Workstation - Dell inspiron 5406 2 in 1 - mobile creative beast

Wifey's Notebook - Dell inspiron 3169 - Little gem for our businesses

UPDATE 6,7,8#:
-Installed a palmrest with FP
-Replaced a keyboard with a Japanese backlit version
-Installed a modified GPU heatsink (dropped temperatures by around 17 degrees which is absolutely insane, it doesn't throttle at all now)

(heatsink was provided by cicichen594 from eBay)
