Pulled this out of a Morefine eGPU. It’s a GeForce RTX 4090.

Going to see if it works on my HP Zbook 17 G5 (which already was upgraded to a Quadro RTX 5000)

Looks like I’m gonna hold on to it for a while…it does work! (after cutting and soldering a makeshift heatsink) Just have to work out a couple of issues but it’s pretty much a plug and play deal with the Zbook G5. I’ll make a thread about it later this week if I have time.

Now I gotta offload this Quadro RTX 5000…

It shows both GPUs, but the bios allows you to change the primary GPU; intel, discrete (the MXM module), hybrid or auto (hybrid mode controlled by the OS). I have it on Auto.

Okay so it's probably working due to intel optimus. I assume discrete mode won't work. In m17xR4 it does not

Kinda...in discrete mode the laptop screen doesn't work, but it outputs to the HDMI port. Might require a vBIOS mod (which I don't wanna risk lol) because the Quadro RTX 5000 I had previously worked with the Laptop screen in discrete mode.

Another issue I ran into is that it won't go fullscreen when using HDMI cable. It might be an easy fix (I haven't been back in the laptop modding scene in a long time) but I don't really need that capability for now

Your laptop probably does DP_C output. Because I know that HP Quadro Pascal and Turing have all the eDP port set to DP_C. You need to find a vbios or a way to modify the eDP port to DP_C.

Your 4090 either doesn't have eDP or has it but it's on the DP_D port.
