I would like to say sometimes graphics arn't everything, I enjoy gaming on emulators and playing old classics like super mario world. I think only a handful of titles are worthy of replaying like GTA V and the witcher 3.

Mods

Im thinking GTA V has the best mods but RDR2 also has some pretty impressive graphical mods

I love The Witcher 3, I have done several full play thoughs and I'm enjoying it, I have played both Subanuticas several times and It's a fine was to pass time when playing online isn't an option.  Asid form those every time I go back to play other games I'm usually disappointed with them and it's ruins the memory of the game.

I don't replay games very often, but I do enjoy dabbling in games from multiple eras, I don't just stick with the newest stuff.  I've played my share of big-graphics AAA games but I find myself caring less about graphics as time goes on.  I do really enjoy the sort of retro pixel game renaissance that's been going on in recent years.  (Shovel Knight, Sonic Mania, The Messenger, Wargroove, etc.)  Sort of brings on the nostalgia and a fresh experience at the same time.

For instance, lately I've been playing Baba Is You (2019) on and off, but I'm also playing the original Half-Life (1998), because I know that it is a milestone game of sorts — well, its sequel might be more of one — I've actually never played either of them before.

There are some newer games that I especially enjoyed like Hollow Knight and Breath of the Wild that I would like to replay, but for those, I feel like I'd like to wait a decade or something so that I can have reasonably well forgotten them and when I sit down to play them again, it will be sort of fresh.

Both Half life games had big leaps in the experience,  I cant remember all the small things that made to original special but one small detail was that you would hear radio chatter on a dead enemy, by today's standards that nothing but back then it was a cool detail that added to the feel of the game.

@DukeCLR

For me it was the graffiti painted on the wall..."Your dead Freeman"

I could just imagine soldiers sitting around waiting and listening to that radio...wanting some payback.

Edit: and the sounds some of the creatures made. I'm a nature lover, but some of those chirps and calls were freaky.

Probably the title could be something like "games worth replaying".

My answer is short and comes to me without thinking: DeusEx series. All of them.

Half-Life (all 3) are a close 2nd and very high on my all time favorites but don't have that much replay value with varied approaches as DeusEx.

Curious about this as well lol, recently came across a projector and have been playing Horizon: Zero Dawn on it for the past week or so...

How do you like that game...?  I've been planning to hit this one later in the year (sometime after the new laptop is in)...

Its my third play through, there were some story elements that I thought were a bit meh but I very much enjoy the game overall. Its a bit hard to not assume as the player, how the story plays out, what is interesting though is unraveling how exactly the fate of humanity came to be. I hadn't bought a new release since Deus Ex: Human Revolution, well new to PC so for me its rather fresh in comparison to console release

I am now replaying Witcher 3 with a number of mods that from what I can tell enhance the source material without deviating too much. Last time I played it, I think I was using the 5700 xt, since I am not mining as much right now until the Winter, hooked up the 3090 to my AM4 system. Finally made it out of White Orchard and into Velen

Also, changed the title.

ill definitely plan to replay the recent wolfenstein series, such an awesome gameplay and story depth... but thatll have to wait until my desktop beast is built 🙂

What mods are you using?  I should have tried some, but it's been so fun just playing on it's own.  I now wonder if I should have waited for the remastered edition coming out at the end of the year, lol.

I think I went with the mostly standard list but from what I am reading in the mods folder here it is:

  • 4k cloud
  • aqua
  • better trophies
  • HDMonstersReworked
  • HDReworked (parts 1-4)
  • Over9000 (weight limit)
  • Unlimited durability
  • 4kArmor textures

I have one on my list its called modcan but I am not sure what it is lol

I have been debating taking out 4k Clouds for Phoenix lighting but have been lazy.

Guess I missed this thread. Again with the Company of Heroes 1 which I have been playing skirmish for a few months now, easy to watch something else while playing. Arkham series, RS* major releases, Dead Space series, FONV/3/4, Yakuza series, ACodyssey/origins, TW3. Smaller indie classics.
