clevo p870km bios question and upgrade to rtx3080 on the way.

BTW with respect to your panel options, if you can borrow an external monitor, why don't you test the temperatures of your 3080 with it before taking your decision?

If you see that the temperatures stay cool on it go for the 1440p.

I know that this plan has to have a fault somewhere (I don't know where though), but this is the only idea that came into my mind.

Hope it is feasible

hi, dunno what difference the p870dm3 has respect my p870km. for the vapor chamber, if u have only  gpu direct contact and u have to use thermal pad for all the others componnet i think that ull be just fine without any modification, but just proper thermal pad thikness. what gpu u have now ? because i read that 2080 is a good gpu, but u will gain not as much boost  from a 1080 or so... also at whar price will u buy a 2080 ?

ive seen 3070 for like 350€ ...... (yes big heatsink mod required) and 2070 for 320€

i have a fhd 60hrz panel that started to do the dirty black cloudy spot inside the edge of it.   my problem is: keep 1080p and go 144hrz, or go 1440p 144hrz ?  running most of the game with vsync keep my gpu  muich cooler , and probably that's why my 1070 survided safe for 4 years without any problem even in summer time.

gaming now with 3080 with vsync give me max temp of 70° 😄; temperature that rise up to 87° if i use 100% gpu.

also changing edp cable means to complete disassembly the notebook....

Pls share with us where did u seen 3070 for like 350€ ?

That's a big good news I was not expecting 🤩. I remembered that some on NBR said that the vc is the same, and on eBay I found some vc on sale labeled as DM3/KM like if it is the same for both models. So I'm fairly confident that if you can fit a RTX in a KM you can do that also in a DM3. Not 100% confident, but a solid 95%.

Currently I have a 1080, I am aware it might not be a massive jump forward, but right now a RTX 2080 is the best I can get from my limited mod skills, and if I manage to sell afterwards my 1080 I might get back part of the money spent, keeping the mod relatively cheap.

As for those I have 700€ piled up so far. I've seen a couple of them at about that price, but I hope prices will go down soon.

Personal gaming experience (I'll keep it short in order to not go off topic) : I've always tried to keep GPU cool, had previously a I7-7700k, temperatures always around 70C° @ 60FPS. After the Dsanke Bios mod and upgrade to i9-9900kf (with delidding and undervolt) same game (I really can't explain how) runs at low 60° (like 62,63), so now I increased to 70FPS to see if it manages it well, and for some reason it does. Dunno if it was the last repaste or whatever, but it stays in low 60°.

In your case with a 3080 I would go for the 1440p, but I understand your concerns about keeping your GPU as cool as possible.

BTW I'm the least knowledged user here so feel free to disregard my tips.😅

You can even put the aliexpress heatsink for the TM inside, it will work just fine.

Hi,

I have developed adapters for the P870TM / KM / DM23, so that the large heatsink for the RTX 3060 - RTX 3080 can be installed!
See photos. Currently, the RTX 3070 is installed with me!

Of course, it doesn't work for that, since the PCB was changed starting with the GTX10xx series and thus also the laptop's case!

I have a 1080 in my P750DM-G now and there are Clevo styled MXM cards that have been reported to work fine as well. The 1060 was one I think off the LTT forums.

Ok, so far have only said there are alternatives:-)

Semantics will not play in your favor here. Do not spam the forum with your adapter.

If you want to make a thread explaining what it is you made, and people reach out as a result that is completely acceptable. If you are unsure of the guidelines feel free to ask any of the staff we are all happy to help.

Thanks

this raul  i think is same guy as ralf asking 800€ for that modified heatsink...https://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/threads/clevo-p870xmx-g-sli-extreme-gamer-notebook-2015-16-17.1089525/page-7#post-29300557

i might be wrong,

edit: your modified vapor chamber can be good if priced around 200€, otherwise my 20€ mod is much better

as u can see i sub to that forum because that raul was sponzoring a fenomenal heatsink, but after discovering the 800€ price i quit him immediately.

On the p870tm1-g, I use this heatsink for the 10-20-30 series of video cards, the temperature of rtx3060 is 35 ° in idle / web surfing, 60-65 ° in load. On rtx3070 38-40 ° in idle, 68-72 in load. On rtx3080 42° idle, 70-78 under load. Quite satisfied with the results of this radiator.

amazing performance. is it custom made or we can buy it ? my handmade heatsink probably has some heatpipe damaged and temp reach 86° on full load but air from back is not that hot...

edit:  on the other side does it has a big thin copper to compensate the flat design ?

This radiator is made to order. I ordered several more of these radiators for my clients. So, in principle, you can solve the issue with the order if someone needs it. But write it in a personal.

I used the search in the branches but did not find a separate topic of Clevo p870 owners, which is very strange, because this is a fairly popular line of Clevo laptops. I think we need to fix this!)))

This forum will respect the wishes of Prema, do not share Prema's work without permission to do so. Any posts related to distribution of such content will be removed, and infractions issued. Consider this a warning.

Any transactions potential or otherwise must take place through the Marketplace, @ViktorV if you plan to sell components through the forums then you will be treated as a vendor to which you will need to abide by Vendor guidelines. This point isnt meant as a warning, just as notice. This would also be the case for anyone in a similar circumstance. As I am sure many would be quite interested in that heatsink, especially P870DM-G owners.

If there is no P870DM-G thread you are all always welcome to make one :)
