I have been considering the Asus Scar laptop heavily actually!! It’s a great price too! However, I am really wanting a Mini LED display, I hate backlight bleed from an IPS display, something that is non existent on a Mini LED, it gives that MacBook looking display feel, and makes the machines feel high quality, which is nice after spending thousands of dollars. After owning (2) very high end gaming laptops the thing I hated the most of IPS bleed and glowing corners (My MacBook Air M1 doesn’t have this, it feels quality) lol. The 16” Scar has this Mini LED option, and the 17.3” MSI GT77 Titan too. But $4,799 for a laptop is an OBSURD amount of money for a BGA Book with a massive ACE hanging off the back of it. I mean that GT77 Titan girl has some serious back on her LOL. Kinda like that song “Body like a backroad” well in this case, the MSI Titan has a “Body like a Backhoe” The MSI really has me torn. I feel like it’s the best option. But that price! I’d be buying it from Micro center, so if I didn’t absolutely love it I could return it. @johnksss does Microcenter offer that warranty on laptops too? So I could technically use it for 1 year, return it and get a gift card for $4,799 towards next gen model? 🙃 -

You should easily be able to run 5600 with 64GB of ram on a desktop. That seems crazy right? Man I can push 32GB to 8,000 C36 on a MSI Z690 motherboard 😂. All with 1.194V SA, 1.4V CPU IMC, and 1.4V TX. Honestly, I really have no need for 64GB or 128GB ram. I’m all for saving money. I just found a similarly equipped machine at Microcenter for $4,699.99. I would swap the ram for 2x16GB 5600 SODIMMS, and just force the 5600 speeds like others are doing. Or better yet, LEAVE IT BE. And just manually set the fastest speeds it can run. https://www.microcenter.com/product/662550/msi-titan-gt77hx-13vi-028us-173-gaming-laptop-computer-black ^ This is not a bad price at all. I know it’s still a crazy expensive laptop, but it is a fast machine for sure. -

Man, that’s terrible. I’d love to find a discount through them somehow or someone. As for the 5600, I have no idea if it can be achieved probably not lol. The 13980HX is supposed to be top tier silicon option though, maybe a good IMC too. It would be a blast to push the memory a little, the options are in the bios to do so. (To an extent) I know that someone ran 2x32GB@5600 on one of these models. But this is really new territory for me all over again. I’m just after a work horse that’ll run for the next 3+ years with really good performance. This machine is a 64GB or 128GB option from most retailers. So the 128GB of ram is not that much more, about $200 extra dollars. Also, if you disable your windows page file and go run a demanding game. You’ll find after a few hours of gaming, more than half of that 128GB will be consumed. Our page file makes 32GB of ram seem acceptable, even though it’s really not. But yes I think, 128GB of ram is really a lot! 😁 -

Hey everyone, does HID Evolution still offer discounts to members on here? I’m looking at a custom MSI GT77 with the 13980HX, and RTX4090. Mini LED display 17.3” display. They offer an option with 128GB DDR5 5600Mhz 😁 -

If a spill like that happened to me, I’d dump alcohol all over the card and just blow it off. The cold alcohol will harden all of the LM and it all just pretty much falls off without painting or sticking to the PCB or components. -

Getting back in to squeezing everything out of this 3090KP HC, I have my GDDR6X at +1900. 😀 23,302gbps -

That’s terrible. I remember hearing some 4090’s sensitive to cold memory. (That seems kinda stupid to me) anyways, I’ve started testing the memory on my 3090KP again. I’ve got +1,800 stable so far I’m games. -

If I buy a gaming laptop, it is not replacing my desktop. Raw graphical power wise the mobile 4090 is about 15% faster than a desktop 3090. And the mobile 4090 is only 10% slower than my overclocked desktop 3090. But, if you account for DLSS 3.0, or even heavily ray traces titles, I cannot keep up with a mobile 4090 at all. Even gimped on power, and throttling to the max it’s going to run circles around my desktop 3090KP HC. Plus, the mobile 4090 can be tuned to extract a little more performance as well. If I bought another gaming laptop, this is just to provide flexibility to my life. Not win races, not run super cool, or compete with a desktop 4090 by any means. It would merely be a gaming laptop that is “Fast enough” and competitive with my gaming desktop. The nice thing is, a BGA horse poop patty laptop is easily capable of true 4K60+ in gaming. (That is pretty amazing) this is a first in history. I know the 4090 laptop GPU is pretty much a disgrace. And it is not in anyway shape or form comparable to a real desktop 4090. However, since the desktop 4090 is such an overkill monster, just a fraction of its power in a laptop is good enough! -

I considered buying another gaming laptop recently, and now the thought is really really really stuck in my head, my son would use it as well. Something that I can use at a desk for power needs, but also move it around if I need to. All of the laptops option are soldered and BGA now so that’s that. I will say there are some really cool machines out there though, I owned a BGA Aorus laptop once, and I really had a great time with it. It was not some monster machine, but it worked well within its abilities very reliable. I looked at the MSI GT77 with 13980HX this CPU is pretty much a 13900K that is struggling with heat issues, and their 4090 is competitive in definitely substantially faster than a desktop 3090. But, these machines are also crazy expensive. You’d have to drop $4,000+ on some of these. I also started looking at that cheaper CyberPower laptop with the 13900HX and 4090 for $2,850. But I am wondering if the 13900HX would have crappier silicon than something with a 13950HX or 13980HX? -

Anyone tested the 4090 Waterforce WB? It already has a block attached. Seems like a solid option. I know it’s all lottery with these GPU’s. But, block already attached sounds good! -

This is a nice GPU. But for $3,500 you would think it would be the OC Lab model with the air cooler and waterblock, and that usb key with rare oc tool. https://www.newegg.com/galaxy-geforce-rtx-4090-hof-oc-plus-24g/p/1FT-00J5-00010?Description=Galax HOF&cm_re=Galax_HOF-_-9SIA4REJSX7418-_-Product&quicklink=true -

That is such a nice GPU! These cards are actually obtainable now! It is tempting. I think if I did buy one, I would maybe grab an FE right on Nvidia.com for $1,599. What made you decide to get a Strix 4090 instead of the other models? -

It would be so cool to see a full power RTX4090 in MXM form factor and the power slider is just turned wayyy down by default so it can stay cool within the limitations of the laptop design. (You could crank it up and burn your house down if you wanted to) -

EVGA must have binned these modules for sure. They overclock like crazy. +1,750 no problems in gaming. I really don’t even remember how high they can go. I want to get a 4090, but then again at 2560x1440 I feel like I’m still enjoying this one pretty well. I feel like if I did have a 4090, my cpu would just run a little warmer and I’d hear a higher pitched squealing noise from my PSU due to more frames. Lol -

19.5gbps Micron modules. With the RTX4090 in stock and affordable, it’s very tempting to upgrade. But, I just don’t feel like I need an upgrade at all. This GPU is just a straight beast in games. It has held up well. -

My goodness. My 3090KP is just killing it. This old thing is doing very well! I was playing Read Dead Redemption 2 the other day on my 4K TV. And I thought my performance was abnormally good, seeing how my minimum fps was 89. Those Nvidia drivers really helped out performance. 16,233 in Port Royal. (This is an easy 28% boost over a stock 3090FE) that is also nearly the same size gap that sits between a RTX4080 and a RTX4090 🤣 and this is all from an overclock. -

Yep, I am highly considering selling my AACH50 and getting a Penguin 1/2HP HE chiller. I want to mount it in the window so it doesn’t affect my ambient temp in the summer time. Plus, it would be quieter and provide slightly more BTU’s. I don’t think I’d want their big 1HP model just because of the power consumption is not worth it. With proper waterflow, 1/2HP HE is all anyone would ever need. As for the pumps, I have (4) D5’s lol. I am probably gonna mount my 4th one this weekend. But, it is so silly..I would prefer just a larger single pump. Maybe I will hook up my big pool pump and sand filter 🤣 that thing can FLOW! (kidding) It would probably force leaks in my waterblocks lol. -

I wish It was a penguin chiller I had instead, which I may go that route. Those are setup like window A/C units. You put it in your window, and install the 1” to 1/4” brass adapters and you are good to go. All of the heat, and even half of the noise go outside of the home. I have considered running a duct right off of my coil and out of the window or even cut a whole in the floor and install a new vent just for hot air to go in to the crawl space. But, it wouldn’t be very pretty. -

I don’t use a radiator. Chiller only. Daily water temp is always set to 15C for 24/7/365 year round usage. Power usage isn’t even that high on the chiller honestly. When it first powers on, it may hit 340 watts for a split second. The power meter barely registers it on screen, and then it settles down to 220 watt sustained while it runs. I know guys with water cooling loops that put out more power running (50+) fans and even more pumps than me LOL. -

Coolant temp is 15C. Chiller is 1/2HP. Waterflow is key with a chiller. They are designed for large amounts of waterflow, something that little D5’s just aren’t capable of. So it takes several of them to get the job done to provide adequate pressure. -

GPU temp was 29C through the test. But, this test was peaking at power levels well over 600-660 watts the entire test. I’m sending additional voltages to the memory and GPU as well. -

They did not before. After adding a 3rd D5 pump to my water loop my load GPU temps actually dropped by 10-13C. It turned the Kingpin Hydro Copper water block that was hated and picked on for poor performance by many, in to a real maniac of a performer. With a 15C water temp it actually runs like 22C-23C in games usually under load. 🤣 before it would run about 35C maybe a little more. I am running a chiller, but with the 3rd pump, it also improved the chillers cooling power. -

Just a follow up on this. That is actually a 3090Ti Kingpin you shared a benchmark of with a 25,200 graphics score. So I started benching my 3090 Kingpin in comparison to see where it’s at. I could not get 25,200.. But I did get 24,536 😎. I have not ran 3DMark in ages. I’m actually quite surprised by this run. Normal 15C daily water temp. 2,235Mhz locked boost and my memory is at 22,950gbps https://www.3DMark.com/3dm/89765069
