Clevo X170KM-G: XMG Ultra 17 e21 version Sold as a barebone without CPU, GPU, RAM, SSD but with the 4K 60Hz G-SYNC screen. What are you buying? Comes in original packaging with driver usb-stick, original 2x 280w bricks (european AC cable) + 780W Eurocom PSU with x170 cables (american AC cable) AliExpress 2in1 watercooled heatsink with unused tubes, fittings, screws (should be complete) and SSD heatsink. Payment: PayPal, bank transfer, I can also make an eBay listing so that you can use the payment methods and can purchase securly. Shipping: International shipping possible, but of course expensive. Laptops are located in Germany, North-Rhein-Westphalia. Runs very smoothly without any problems. The keyboard is missing the little rubber knob on the spacebar but it works without issues. I ripped it off while cleaning, unfortunately:-( I still have the spacebar key though with the mounting brackets. The function key is missing in the picture but I have it and the key is perfectly fine (no missing rubber). Otherwise no issues and works perfectly. No marks or scratches only on little, almost invisible little dent on the left side (see in picture). The 780W Eurocom PSU was bough three to four months ago. It was manufactured 2025/06 and I bought it brand new. Dont need it because I have another π I love this device and I'm only selling it because I got a great deal on a brand new one, which I just had to buy ^^. That's why I'm keeping the main components to use them in the new one. (βΌοΈProof of function of course possible on request, I already removed the main components before taking the pictures) Also I just have wayyy too many laptops and hardware in general so I can't keep everything. I also got a Nebula Red M18X R2 if anyone's interested π Clevo P870DM2: What are you buying? Complete laptop with: Z170 Mainboard I7 6700K 4.1 GHz 4 Core CPU (can be delidded if needed) up to 9900K with BIOS mod GTX 1080 Desktop 8GB 32GB 2x16GB DDR4 @ 2400Mhz HyperX RAM 1TB Samsung 960 EVO NVME, 2X 2TB Toshiba HDD (5TB total) 1920x1080p FullHD 75HZ G-SYNC Panel (100HZ overclockable) 330w original psu (european ac cable) Comes with original packaging, driver CD The P870 is running smoothly with no visible marks except for micro scratches on the lid. It is barely audible on idle with a custom fan profile. Only issue is a stripped screw in the bottom panel, which I couldn't remove so I had to break the bottom panel, which didn't cause damage to the laptop only to the housing where the screw was in. It is not visible from the outside and the lid closes normally. For any other infos or more and higher quality pictures, feel free to contact me anytime π

Hi, yeah thats the one. I did try out these pad sizes but this also didnt work. I also thought about copper shims instead of the GPU pads, might just do that aswell. I did sand the IHS. I wanted to buy the rockitcool or bartex 11th gen copper IHS but no matter where i look 11th gen seems to be gone everywhere. There's 9th gen 10th gen and 12th gen + but 11th gen just seems to have vanished from everywhere. Ive seen your work, thats awesome btw! I would have wantes to do something similar since the vapor chamber on the GPU is just great and Im kind of missing that on the aftermarket heatsink. I think ill just use a putty and the copper shims and see if that helps.
-
Yeah i will definitely look into the putties. I got the heatsink like 2-3 months ago, I doubt that ill be able to refund it.
-
I thought about it too but I dont know anything about these putties. Did you use it on this laptop? The strange thing here is that the spot that doesnt make contact is on the side where there are not pads so I think the heatsink is the issue

So after I got the chinese watercooled Heatsink I spend a long time figuring out different thermal pad sizes to get the best contact with the die/IHS. Somehow I cant understand my thermal paste spread though, as it is very uneven on the left side, both on the CPU and GPU. No matter what pads I tried on the GPU side, (0.5 all the way to 2mm!), nothing works... im kinda out of ideas so maybe someone can help? Its been months and it still runs like shit (80C+ on GPU 87-90C on CPU) I just wanna get this damn thing running π

I somehow got it to hold now... it's pretty unfortunate since i wanted to sell it and before I was finished cleaning it that thing broke
-
Yes, i would too, but i cant seem to get it to hold π

momo25 started following Official Clevo X170KM-G Thread , Help broke the HDD tab on my M18X R1 and Official Clevo X170SM-G Thread

Hello everyone! Just finished repairing, cleaning and restoring my M18X. When I put it back together I broke the little tab on the HDD ribbon cable. Does anyone know where I can get one of these? Couldnt find the part number or anything similar. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it seems like it. I had hoped to gain better air cooling from the heatsink aswell, thats why I bought it. I did delid my 11900k with LM but the rockitcool IHS isnt available anymore and neither is ANY copper IHS not even Bartex. There are 9900k 10900k and 12900k and above IHS but no 11th gen... As for the fans are they really that different from the stock ones that its worth buying? I only really care if they perform better, quietness is secondary for me. The PSU is great but yeah you do hear some noise but barely audible especially when you game or have headphones on. I dont know what you mean with the cables but you do need to note that you need buy a different wallplug cable if youre outside the US

No, thats in my KM, but i used the wrong thread without noticing for my first post, so i guess ill just continue here ^^ The 780W Eurocom is really cool with its real time wattage display but i think this is only necissary for when you watercool and heavily overclock. Because the combined 560w of the two psus are totally fine otherwise. If you only want to buy it for portability, might be worth it if you get a good price; found it for around 80β¬ on eBay brand new but the shipping costs to Germany brought it to almost 200 Also planning to get the gt600 air cooler, i heared it'll really help

So ive got the heatsink and delided my 11900k and it arrived today along with my 780w Eurocom PSU. Happy about the PSU but the heatsink is giving me headaches. Not only did it arrive bent but it also seems to make bad contact and no matter which pads or sizes I use its worse then stock. I used Nanogrease extreme and the pads that came with it. Also tried it with arctic tp3 but that didnt improve it. Im seeing mid 80s on the GPU compared to mid 60-70s on the stock heatsink. Which pad sizes did you use? The seller recomendation seems to be not working. Is there anything youve dont to make it work? My air cooled performance is 10C worse then before...
-
Yeah the copper IHS is just for my OCD ^^ I also had an SM-G but that was worse than my KM-G. Constantly throttled and no matter what I did i just couldnt get it to run properly. Glad about my KM purchasr tho!
-
Damn, thanks for the fast reply! I just noticed that i posted it in the SM thread instead of the KM, my bad π«£ Yes I know that it is nickel plated copper but unfortunally my IHS is concave which resulted in over 10Β°C differences between the cores. So you think buying the hugely expensive pads is unnecissary? Is the AliExpress heatsink able to transfert more heat than the stock one even with no water? Also what is the prefect PL1/2 limit for the CPU? Im still trying to optimize the temps for gaming. What limit do you have for the CPU?

Hey guys! I bought a x170KM-G with an 11900K and a 3080 a couple of days ago and I would like to get the most performance out of it. Im planning to delid the CPU and get a copper IHS, repaste with liquid metal and replace the entire thermal pads. I found EC360 Platinum pads with 16wmk to be the best option. They offer standard ones and one designated "soft". Which ones are best for the x170? Also Im curious to test out the AliExpress watercooled heatsink. Are the temps better than the stock heatsink even without water? Im also looking for an i9 11900k with a high SP Rating thats worth the delid and the copper IHS. Does anyone have one that they would like to sell? (Im in europe) If you have any other tips to reduce the temps i would love to hear them! I already read through most of the forums but if there's any game changing tip i would be more then happy to hear about it π
