  1. lets hope this pans out and is not just another "coping marketing strategy" by AMD 😄
  2. interesting tidbit on that new type of ILM: Roman commented on his recent Arrow Lake release vid that the new ILM sku would also help increasing max RAM OC, especially in the regions of 9000+ MT/s. LOOL dude, those RAM slots, think u got enough RAM yet? 😄
  3. soooo....arrow lake meh, but at least finally letting off the power consumption gas. also, get your wallets ready for the 5090: https://static.tweaktown.com/news/1/0/101024_50_rtx-50-pricing-leak-5090-for-1999-2499-5080-1199-1499-5070-599-699.png jesus H christ, so a high quality partner card incl taxes would run up to roughly 3200€, pls shoot me now 😄
  4. double ccd vcache, full oc abilities, same boost as regular non-x3d parts, im liking what im seeing thus far 🙂
  5. agreed on this. although theres definitely gonna be at least some tuning capabilities, i doubt theyd go back on functionality vs. the 7000 X3D parts 🙂
  6. if thats the case, lets hope they now include full OC capabilities and less temperature sensivity....then well have the best of all worlds 😄
  7. on the plus side, the meh 9000 launch also pushed AMD to release X3D parts sooner than originally planned as it seems: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/ryzen-7-9800x3d-rumored-to-arrive-in-october-leaker-claims-amd-is-saving-the-ryzen-9-9900x3d-and-ryzen-9-9950x3d-for-early-2025 on the flipside tho, 12 and 16 ore X3D chips are still slated for 2025. seems like theyre gonna include some additional features for the higher core count parts, that will not be included in the 9800X3D. huh, makes me scratch my head, curious to see what they got planned. all in all, so far looks like zen 5 and arrow lake will both be neck-and-neck, but also rather iterative than a big jump forward....
  8. yeah shit outta luck, just received their response today: so looks like ill be getting me a second AM5 HPHS and sell off the current one on fleabay 😄 5C difference is definitely nothing to sneer at!
  9. I purchased it in Nov-2023, so its already been 10 months. While I get your point, the way that Roman / TG presents this is not a mere process improvement, but rather a problem that was identified with their product and is now being fixed. While the heatspreader technically "works", in this context I rather see this as a defective product that now gets a fixed revision. In that regard, it shouldnt matter how long ago I purchased it 🙂 I mean, after all, a significant temperature reduction is exactly what this product is advertized for...
  10. They will likely get far more than that, i.e. free replacements for thousands of defective CPUs plus rebates on future high volume deals. Intel would surely not want to lose such big customers 😛
  11. something VERY interesting I stumbled upon by chance a few days ago when this video was uploaded by Roman: so the above mentioned issues with their TG waterblock also affect their high performance heatspreader for AM5 (Roman mentions this in the vid, but its basically just a side note, you can easily miss it. he mostly focuses on the waterblock). Checking the TG website for the AM5 heatspreader I found this note: Link: https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/heatspreader/s-tg-hphs So we are talking of 5C or even more of thermal performance that got lost due to the nickel coating! Looks like Ill have to re-purchase the heatspreader to get the updated version before I consider buying Ryzen 9000 X3D.... Welp, at least I can still sell off the V1 sku on ebay I guess to make up for some of the loss 😄 Although I like the transparency of TG on this issue, I find it leaving a bitter aftertaste in my mouth, as I dont see any option to replace my TG heatspreader with the updated version....hm, I might reach out to them about this. What do u guys think? Edit: Just contacted TG via their website contact form to ask for a replacement with the updated sku, lets see how this develops.
  12. My guess is the type of forums / people we interact with regarding computer hardware are not running their CPUs full stock and dont keep them long enough anyways to run into such issues 😄 The high-volume data center customers using tens of thousand of these CPUs 24/7 at high load are far more likely to run into degradation issues vs. DIY customers tuning their CPUs for max perf/voltage ratios.
  13. got some feedback from the rainbow master: the 980M vbios mods were done based on the respectice ASIC qualities of the cards. so flashing this on a 980M with a different ASIC quality could lead to overvoltage spikes and possibly throttling. also, dont forget that the 980M had g-sync and non-g-sync versions withs different hardware IDs. vbios were not cross-compatible between the two. so best to add the info if this vbios is for g-sync or non-g-sync cards 🙂
  14. kool, so same as intel then 😂 now were all on the same page and nobody wins 💀
  15. just based on user feedback and reviews its supposed to be much worse than ME 1-3
  16. nah, no more dispute from my side, seems pretty clear now. scoured through enough reviews now to have a good overall picture for Zen 5. X3D waiting game commences...
  17. hahaha nope wukong doesnt really interest me aside from the heavy benchmark 😛 i actually just started Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Gonna be my very first playthrough of ME, should be interesting. especially given all the good things ive heard about it.
  18. boom shakalaka, just ordered the SSD and also got me some USB-C to USB-A adapters 🙂 should be here by Friday, cant wait!
  19. aw cmon, no need to explain urself, i think its great 😄
  20. nooonono, not rich at all, just patient....remember, had been saving up every cent for three full years before i started assembling Hpyerion 😉 i didnt purchase anything of worth during that time!
  21. that is insane for DDR3, holy crap! yep saw that today, as well. even brings a 4090 to its knees maxed out at 4K with RT. should be a nice gpu stability testing tool for OCing the 5090 😄 (and a prime example for anyone asking why anyone would bother upgrading from a 4090 😛 )
  22. HL2 in VR? huh, had no idea! maybe Valve is getting all HL games up to speed before HL3 is finally released 😛 on a more serious note regarding future games: looking forward to the second DLC for Alan Wake 2, the new Indiana Jones game by Machinegames (also wish there were news on Wolfenstein 3!), TItan Quest 2 and Bioshock 4. And ofc HL3 if the latest leaks are anything to go by.... In the meantime, i gotta take a look at the Black Myth: Wukong Benchmark Tool, apparently 4K maxed with RT even a 4090 is brought down to its knees, lulz. Should be a nice stability tool for the 5090 😛
  23. i think we are waaaay too old school here for such new tech fads 😛
