  1. duuuude....who TF came up with that silly idea to update drivers?! OMFG! i just spent several hours getting my system to properly boot up again! so i ran DDU to prepare for the 576.15 install, rebooted aaaand....blackscreen O.o switched to iGPU....still blackscreen. BUT WAIT, i can see the mouse cursor! at least sometimes LOL but no dice, had to use my lady's machine, prep a win RE usb drive, manually inject AMD RAID drivers to access my storage, then tried to run system restore, STILL NO DICE. so i ran startup repair and....finally an image! then i reran system restore from before running DDU inside the system and now all is well again. yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, im sticking to 572.83 for the time being. seems to me that DDU isnt up to snuff yet with the latest drivers, holy guacamole what a shit show NVIDIA! fix ur crap! /rant
  2. HA! A SINGLE SPOT WITH 99% GPU AND BELOW 240 FPS! 6090 JUSTIFIED! 🤣 "the bane of my existence" had to rofl at that 😄 as i said, VERY curious to see the results with my current oc, will keep u in the loop. for me its been hard freezes requiring a reboot every. single. time. not even one recovery thus far! very annoying! while playing Deliver Us Mars yesterday i marveled at the clocks, i was basically running the same 3030-3100 Mhz core clocks as with the 4090 before, only now with 33% more cores and GDDR7 pushed to 34 Gbps....this is just pure, unadultared fun! 😄 edit: hate to burst ur TSE bubble, but i just passed a 1h loop of it at my +360 core oc 😄 all good!
  3. some very interesting points u made here, sir! first up, ill give TSE GT2 looped a go, curious to see what happens 😄 will report back. and yes, i follow the same logic, its stable until the next game / application 😄 1kW vbios daily, you say? thats what i did with my 4090 for....i dunno, close to two years? flashed it right when it came out, never looked back 😄 as mentioned, the locked voltage helps keep things in check 🙂 although i DO expected the 5090 to probably max out even a 1kW vbios in some cases LOL with the 4090 i "only" went up to like 750-800W in some usage scenarios. BUT, cooling on the 5090 is even beefier, so im catiously optmistic in this regard. nevertheless, its all talk until we actually get to stretch out gpu legs, power limit wise... the recovery point u bring up is VERY interesting. i am currently scratching my head a bit as to why the 5090 cannot recover from an unstable OC. the 4090 did so very competently, but with the 5090 thus far i only get a system freeze that i need to manually reset. otherwise no dice. u say this is not the case with 576.02? might be driver related then... i might give 576.15 a go, now that the temp sensor issue seems to be fixed. 5090 is a beast indeed. and i can only repeat myself: i am astounded at how quiet my battlestation is under full load with the 9950X3D + 5090, never thought this was possible... admittedly, havent oced the CPU yet, but its also still full stock, not delidded yet 😄 still lots to do!
  4. lol nah i couldnt be bothered with such seasonal profiles 😄 i just want a stable D2D OC once all the initial tuning is done 🙂 did the same, started with a quick n dirty +300/+350/+400, noticed 400 onwards was unstable so now backing down bit by bit. currently at +360 and stable thus far. what were ur last stress tests that showed instability on your side? did a bunch of transcoding yesterday without issues. fun fact: on the 4090 i couldnt do transcoding and gaming at the same time, gpu clocks would be locked to idle or slightly above that (dont as me why, no idea to this day!) and system RAM usage would max out. now with my new SSD setup (PCIe 4.0 vs. SATA before for media storage) and the 5090 system RAM usage is only at 50% and gpu clocks are unaffected. sooooo, gaming session while transcoding in the background, thats the stuff! 🙂 yup i feel ya. wanna enjoy the card a bit before doing too much non-stock tinkering on it haha 😄 besides, as of yet not really worth it without an XOC vbios. as u mentioned, the only vbios worth trying atm would be the Astral one, ive seen some user reports with up to 5% perf. boost going from stock vbios oced to stock astral vbios. seemed a bit sus to me, esp. since it was a lower-tier card (dont rembember, i think it was a palit? or a tuf?), but worth investigating. in any case, thats what a dual vbios card is for, no risk of bricking 🙂 one of the reasons why an FE would never end up in my shopping basket. even with a 1kW XOC vbios the card would be voltage limited far before there would be any risk of it going up in flames (naturally, assuming psu/cable is up to snuff lol).
  5. another game = another stress test 😄 i just started playing Deliver Us Mars and turns out my core OC aint stable. so back to the drawing board! just thought Id let you guys know in case ure looking for a nice stability test for gpu oc 😛 stable thus far (increasing order of difficulty to get OC stable) Alan Wake 2 Titanfall 2 3DM Speedway Unity Enemies and now Deliver Us Mars. 60 min. each btw at 4K maxed out. edit: and done, lost -10 Mhz on the core OC to get it stable in Deliver Us Mars. Now for some gaming without crashes 🙂
  6. so i installed gpu tweak III after bro @Mr. Fox pointer and also some reports that the enhanced OC setting might allow for higher vRAM OC. no dice tho, still only capable of +3000 or up to 34 Gbps. uninstalled again, sticking with PX1.
  7. keep me in the loop as to your results when u get to the "hard stuff" 😄
  8. thats ok, as long as everyone's happy with their purchase we can focus on crapping all over NGreedia 😄 so, enough benching / stress testing / tuning for now, first gaming session with the 5090 tonight 🙂
  9. function over form! 😄 first and foremost, i got the Suprim because of its superior cooling, the sleek non-gamery looks only came in second 😛 but yeah, as i said before: when spending this ridonkulous amount of money, i make sure i get what i actually want, and not just "anything that is currently available".
  10. yeaaaah F that, staying on 572.83 for the time being 😄 now that i think about it, the meager perf. increase in AW2 is probably due to the shitty drivers....
  11. havent seen one yet either 😄 id be curious to see how far one could go. based on XOC results ive seen at 35+ Gbps we "shouldnt" be loosing out on too much bandwidth, but any artificial clock block is just wrong... im still on 572.83. hm, what kinda clock penalty are we talking here on 576.02? now ure making me not want to update as badly anymore 😄 dude, a clean install a month? LOL aint nobody got time for that 😄 got some more bench data for you guys: 4090 OC vs. 5090 OC Alan Wake II 4K maxed out with DLSS Quality Tested 6 different savegames, avg. fps listed 66 fps vs. 72 fps = +9.6% for the 5090 OC something is definitely funky here, when checking reviews im seeing roughly 30-35% uplift in AW2 with RT. no idea whats up with this, will have to look into this further. Titanfall II 4K maxed out incl. adaptive resolution Tested 15 different savegames, avg. fps listed 143 fps vs. 185 fps = +30% for the 5090 OC now this is more like it! Last but not least, i did some test transcoding. Converted a total of 6 episodes of a tv show at 1080p to get to a smaller filesize without much quality loss (HEVC H.265 via NVENC), using Xmedia Recode. 4090 = 5971 seconds = 1h 39m 31s 5090 = 3086 seconds = 51m 26s thats a whopping 94% performance boost a.k.a. almost halving of the transcoding time, NICE! im guessing this is likely a combo of 50% more NVENC units (3 vs. 2) and the vastly increased vRAM bandwidth. me likey 🙂
  12. exactly. and the noise level on this thing is virtually non-existent. i barely notice any difference between idle and load LOL has probably something to do with the fact that my case sports a total of 14 fans 😄
  13. "the juice wasnt worth the squeeze" - love that quote, gotta keep that in mind for future reference LOL
  14. welcome to the 5090 club bro, its about time 🙂 heard good things about the trio thus far, hope it treats you well! do tell us how its going with it. screaming for more powah 100%. what im seeing thus far is that im hitting the power limit WAY earlier than the voltage limit in most cases. one exception is Unity Enemies (UE5 tech demo), which lets the card ramp up to roughly 550W so its able to stretch its legs clockwise and holds steady around 3150 Mhz on the core at +370 (my confirmed D2D stable btw, +375 turned out to be unstable in Unity Enemies). thats why im absolutely HOPING for the XOC vbios to drop at some point. not planning to shunt mod this card. PX1 is standalone. everything i have is standalone. i dont even have a steam account 🤣 and yeah, for custom fan curves im using AB, PX1 unfortunately doesnt help there. havent tested max settings for short benches yet. gimme a list of benches ud want to see and ill check it out for you 🙂 VRAM is easy, cant go further than +3000 and its stable haha 😄 so only core left to finetune in this regard. my 4090 D2D was at +190 / +1525 so basically the same as yours. u know, funny that u mention that with the astral vbios. ive seen reports that although the astral vbios sports the same 600W limit, it somehow allows for a bit higher peak voltage and also has higher / more frequent 600+ W peaks. might be worth a try 🙂 havent checked for transients yet, those 610W peaks i mentioned before was just manual eyeballing via the Nvidia overlay during stress testing. so will need to do some more detailed monitoring with HWInfo. thats to be expected that your FE stays overall lower in voltage, with on average higher temps at load it would downclock a tad more and thus use a lower point on the V/F curve. bouncing off the 600W limit is basically all i see on my end....i guess our game library is a bit different 😄 not planning to do any undervolting, rather interested in the max stable clocks at max voltage 😛 however i WOULD be interested in a vbios with a much lower minimum power limit i could clamp down. the Suprim performance vbios only lets me go down to 67%, equivalent to 400W peak wattage. i would prefer 25-33% or equivalent to 150-200W for regular desktop use / light loads / transcoding workloads. how are those 576 drivers treating ya? havent updated yet, wanted to finish all my testing first with the same driver base. edit: good news on the ebay front, i just sold my 5x Samsung 860 Evo 4TB disks all at once to a buyer in France. total fees at 5% 🙂 pricing was also very good, managed to sell them at 90% of the price i paid for them about 5-6 years ago (new) 😄
  15. i started off with bone stock testing to get a feel of the card first, i.e. no voltage or PL adjustments whatsoever. +3000 / 34Gbps on vRAM is still stable, and i think ive hit a stability wall at +375 on the core. anything above that, i.e. +380 and the system locks up during stress tests after about 10-15 min. depending on the load and resolution im getting anywhere between 2500 and 3000+ Mhz on the core under load. max core temps always go to 68C, with fans adjusting accordingly and PL always maxed out, bouncing off the 600W limit. i sometimes see it go up to 610W or so, but the 600W limit is pretty hard nonetheless. core voltages are again dependent on the type of load, max. im seeing at idle / light loads is 1.025V with min under load around 0.950V, im guessing i got a very non-leaky silicon that has low peak voltage. ive seen other spike up to 1.09 or so. in conclusion, the 5090 is hopelessly power-starved and in desperate need of a 1kW vbios... ive got two more stability sessions to go through before i call +375/+3000 stable enough for D2D. any fine adjustments / corrections in specific games notwithstanding, that is. after that ill go through my benchmark suite once more to check and see what kinda uplifts im seeing vs. 5090 stock / 4090 OC / 4090 stock. oh btw, i HAVE heard some coil whine now! 😄 that was in titanfall 2 at 1080p and 600+ FPS 🤣 but even then its very slight, totally wouldnt hear it when gaming with headphones on. so nothing to worry about really. as for ebay, ive also been selling there for 23 years now. the experiences are pretty much the same as yours, theres always gonna be a few hiccups / idiots here and there but overall ive always come out pretty solid. the ebay fees also arent so bad, at least not here. they are dependend on where the sale goes to, i.e. national sales are free (no fees whatsoever), inside the EU there are fees but still quite low and only when i sell outside the EU the fees go up to "standard" levels, so to say. however, im fine with that, since the overall customer audience / geographical reach is just without competition.
  16. LOL great timing with me planning to put up my 4090 tomorrow 😄
  17. you were actually the one pointing me towards PX1 in the first place 😄 yeah i had tried Asus Tweak before and exactly that tacky UI scared me away 😛 but ill give it another whirl if there is any enhanced OC functionality.
  18. yep saw that drop during benching yesterday, changelog included a frigging TON of bugfixes specifically for 50 series. will update asap 🙂 some more 5090 Suprim insights: - highest core temp ive seen thus far was 68C in Alan Wake 2 pathtracing maxed out in 4K without DLSS/FG. card still super quite, insane - vRAM OC at +3000 for 34Gbps confirmed stable via GPU Memtest for 1hour. max VRam temp. 64C during stress test. - currently checking for core OC, happy to report that EVGA PX1 does not have any troubles applying +100 on the voltage slider. with AB lots of reports that the card would drop to base clocks and show funky behaviour. havent seen this with PX1, so all good. - +300 core oc looks stable thus far, but not quite done with stability testing yet, about halfway through. initial quick n dirty core oc only locked up the card once i reached +500 😄 should be interesting haha - need to do some more extensive voltage monitoring to determine typical range for my particular sample. initial impressions in alan wake 2 yesterday showed anywhere between 1.00 and 1.25V (voltage slide maxed, power pegged at 600W+). but ofc that depends on the application tested. will keep u guys posted 🙂
  19. thx bud, so far im quite happy with the card and definitely keeping it. will be putting my 4090 Suprim up for sale on fleabay soon, curious to see what kinda price i could fetch for it. still covered by warranty until / including Sep this year. with regards to "bringing it alive", i had previously mentioned that i was surprised to see Titanfall 2 making the 4090 basically scream 😄 highest power consumption ive ever seen and had to manually switch to a more aggressive fan curve to keep me 24/7 OC settings stable. now i found out why: when maxing out the graphics settings, theres also an adaptive resolution settings that targets a specific framerate you input. if it exceeds it, the resolution is upped, if it falls below, resolution is lowered. at maxed out settings, both the 4090 and 5090 are able to run the game at 100+ and sometimes 200+ fps, but the thing is: the max res. it goes to is 16k! 😄 so you basically have a combo of BOTH an insanely high rendering resolution plus high framerates! so defiitely a good use case to check for OC instabilties, coil whine and max power consumption. id highly recommend getting the game for the sake of playing it. as well, its both quite beautiful and captivating in storytelling and creative gameplay mechanics 🙂 (btw titanfall 3 rumoured!) ill check out the DX Mankind MD benchmark, sounds promising! does it come standalone or do i need to install the whole game for it? and yeah, definitely check out PX1, ill try to use it as long as possible / as long as it provides functionality on new cards. luckily, blackwell is basically just an updated ada arch, so functionality is still intact! (development was progressed to include the 4090, after which is halted). on this note @Mr. Fox since im sure u have a very comprehensive list of benchmark tools: can you recommend and standalone gpu benchmarks outside of the usual suspects? preferably with a basis in an actual game, that would be grand 🙂
  20. first impressions on running benches with the 5090 Suprim: - my system is SO insanely quiet now with the 9950X3D + 5090, both are much quieter than my previous 7950X + 4090 Suprim combo. crazy, wouldve never thought that! - absolutely zero coil whine, not even at 500+ FPS. my 4090 would have a slight coil whine during very high FPS runs (were talking 300+), but otherwise basically nothing. - EVGA PrecisionX1 still works and allows me to push the vRAM to 34 GBps (+3000 on the slider or rather +6 Gbps). i love this tool so its great to see its still functional 🙂 still have AB installed as a backup tho and for future custom fan curves. havent checked temps yet under high continuous load, the benches im currently running are too short to properly determine cooling capabilities. but judging from the noise (or lack thereof), im not really worried in that dept. 😄 so far so good!
  21. im sure you and bro @Papusan will also absolutely LOVE the RGB puke 🤣 but yes i agree, love the simple look with those elegant angles.
  22. 5090 installed and purring smooooooooooothly 🙂 first up: all ROPs present and PCIe 5.0 x16 working as intended, PHEW! dont worry about the clocks, fiddling around with powersaving profile for simple desktop usage. next up: Id never thought Id see the day where my Suprim 4090 seems SMALL, THIN AND LIGHT 😄 check out these CHONKERS! 5090 always on top I really wish they wouldve sticked with the three slot backplate... why would anyone do a dual backplate on a 4+ slot brock of a gpu?!?! 🥸 anyways, time for some stock benches to get a baseline vs. my oced 4090!
  23. This. Doesnt matter if i spend 2k or 3k for a 5090, at those price points its all the same: i better get what i actually WANT, otherwise might as well set fire to those bills and call it a day 😋😄 aight boiz, currently finishing up my last bench, then its time for the GPU transplant 😎
  24. well...depends how u define "MSRP" 😄 getting a card at the 2229€ current FE MSRP would still be very difficult. but at 2800-2900€ no issue whatsoever, so were talking roughly 25-30% above FE MSRP. i.e. comparable to 2500-2600 USD without tax.
