vBIOS mods for new NVIDIA GPUs now possible?
jaybee83 replied to Aaron44126's topic in Custom Builds
golden times ahead for 40 series owners, yehaw! at least until Nvidia starts locking EVERYTHING down, including crossflashing official signed vbios versions 😅☠️ -
interesting thread, ill chime right in: my current build is actually the very first time i ever did some research with regard to keyboards. before that i just went by looks alone (i knooooow, i was a kb noob haha). i definitely wanted fullsize with numpad, wanted DBT caps for longer lifetime and after trying some switches i went the MX Brown route (Reds too linear / floppy for my taste and Blues too loud/clicky). in the end i chose Ducky, seen tons of great user reviews on them. when the time came to order my components, just so happened that the One 3 was released, so thats what i went with: from what ive seen, Ducky is basically one of the last stations u go before going full custom / self build keyboards 😄 i dont think ill ever get into it, kb are more like tools for me, no actual passion behind it. but for my first desktop build in 15 years i figured id spoil myself. the typing experience is grand, work and play are both tons of fun using this keyboard. its quite hefty in weight, feels premium, but at the same time minimialistic (i.e. no bloatware software that comes with it, everything is done via macros). switched are replaceable and i thought the color scheme is refreshingly different from the usual black / white / red stuff 🙂 my lady still thinks its WAY TOO LOUD, but then again shes not really used to mechanical kb, she prefers quieter membrane keys 😄 when we had guests over recently, she was trying to explain to them what kinda kb i had, and was like: its something old-school clicky LOUD like the keyboards they used to make in the olden days. my reaction to that: i still love her though! 😄

had to chuckle at that 😄 oh boy, welcome to the endlessly deep rabbit hole of windows decrapping / tuning my friend.... 😄 at some point ull have to probably go a step back cuz u realize u just removed some part that u need for a specific application haha. unless you only use that OS for benching 🙂 Bitsum Park Control is nice, ive been using it for quite a while now. -
haha yep basically thats whats keeping me from playing that game...saw the IGN review on it and the reviewer played BG3 nonstop for 3 weeks and beat the game after 130 hours playtime...aint no well in hell i have that kinda freetime anymore! lulz

weeell good thing is now ure able to crossflash that 4090 FE 😉 downloaded and saved for future use, as well! -
the thing that lets hardware degrade and die off quickly is voltage and heat. so just do some testing, if theres not much additional heat and u dont overvolt theres no real worries 🙂

Do it.

agreed on all points there. oh geez those FC thumbnails....lulz

damn, sux to be you my friend....time for an external storage upgrade! go gettem Papu! https://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia-makes-1000-profit-on-h100-gpus-report btw, 1000% profit margins, anyone? so yeah, why would they give a crap about us gamers / benchers.... 😄 were only at a MEASLY 50-100% margin or so hahaha -
welp, the subscribers are definitely pulling out of floatplane.... https://floatplane.wtf/ other sources also floating around, i.e. reddit / ltt forum, etc. peak was somewhere around 41000 so basically lost 12% of their subs inside 2 days. nice?!

haha yep sounds about right! sadly thats also why ill likely not play it anytime soon 😄 i have about one to two hours of personal freetime (best case) a day that i usually spend watching TV shows or tuning / benching my setup 😛 still lots to finetune! AND OMG ARE YOU KIDDING MEEEE 😮 there goes my little freeetime.... 😄 edit: just watched the trailer and i had instant goosebumps! btw its hilarious that they even tried to mimick a greek accent while narrating hahaha. in the beginning they did it well but slacked off a bit at the end. still, kudos! 🙂

Some more interesting stuff coming to light in the wake of the GN video: https://www.dexerto.com/tech/ex-linus-tech-tips-employee-alleges-mistreatment-and-poor-conditions-2251613/ https://www.sportskeeda.com/esports/news-i-told-i-chunky-fat-ugly-stupid-youtuber-madison-suop-opens-reveals-left-linus-media-group-amid-recent-controversy phew this sounds terrible... but sadly this somehow fits the overall LTT working environment were now getting deeper insights into... -

its hilarious to see my lady all of a sudden following the tech tuber drama like shes part of the tech community. drama at its finest drawing in the masses! 😄 -
sup mah dudes! i just got myself my very first display colorimeter, very curious to try it out: funny enough, i had its predecessor in my wishlist for ages now, the Calibrite Colorchecker Display Plus. Now that i finally came around to making a purchase i realized its successor was just released like a month ago, perfect timing! apparently the new models have a higher capability to properly calibrate HDR monitors, which is of course nice to have in my case with the up to 2000 nits Neo G8 🙂 have to admit im a total noob when it comes to display calibration, but i figured id give it a shot, especially since the Neo G8 was among the top 3 most expensive parts of my build (after the MSI 4090 and the Asus X670EE).

ive heard / seen good things about Baldurs Gate 3, supposedly breaking all records on metacritic and concurrent player numbers. anyone tried it yet?

shame they didnt include the arctic freezer II in their testing. at 38 mm thickness, thicker than normal tubings and higher overall coolant volume, theyre very competitive. only weak spot with their relatively low RPM fans (very quiet though, good normalized noise performance and very good price / perf. ratio) can be fixed easily, i.e. with a push/pull config with 6x 3000 rpm Noctua fans (as i did in my setup 😛 ) as Fox and electrosoft mentioned, not worried on that front. the commuity will always find new creative ways to delid 😄: -

id wager ur thinking could be along the lines of: meh, for "mere gaming" those lower perf gpus are sufficient, cant waste precious gpu cycles of my 4090 monster on that, gotta keep benching! 😁 -

haha my bad actually, i shouldve figured in your case! 😃 i just jumped right to gaming since thats what the x3D parts are mainly focused on. -

noice, please do follow up with performance data, esp. in gaming! welp...we better get used to such extreme weather phenomena, thats gonna be the "new normal" from here on out. i shudder to think what kinda world my lil one will live in at my current age... say what, in only 10 days?! damn tbeyre fast! much respect 😃 ill take that bet! when it comes to games, more cache beats more cores / higher clocks, same goes for intel cpus actually: -

i admit with my first win11 install i tried it. i figured hey, gotta experience it for myself before i can make any judgements. boy was i in for a ride, that software is huuuuuuge, so many processes, registry keys and basically impossible to completely remove again... yeah no thx ^^
