shame they didnt include the arctic freezer II in their testing. at 38 mm thickness, thicker than normal tubings and higher overall coolant volume, theyre very competitive. only weak spot with their relatively low RPM fans (very quiet though, good normalized noise performance and very good price / perf. ratio) can be fixed easily, i.e. with a push/pull config with 6x 3000 rpm Noctua fans (as i did in my setup 😛 ) as Fox and electrosoft mentioned, not worried on that front. the commuity will always find new creative ways to delid 😄: -

id wager ur thinking could be along the lines of: meh, for "mere gaming" those lower perf gpus are sufficient, cant waste precious gpu cycles of my 4090 monster on that, gotta keep benching! 😁 -

haha my bad actually, i shouldve figured in your case! 😃 i just jumped right to gaming since thats what the x3D parts are mainly focused on. -

noice, please do follow up with performance data, esp. in gaming! welp...we better get used to such extreme weather phenomena, thats gonna be the "new normal" from here on out. i shudder to think what kinda world my lil one will live in at my current age... say what, in only 10 days?! damn tbeyre fast! much respect 😃 ill take that bet! when it comes to games, more cache beats more cores / higher clocks, same goes for intel cpus actually: -

i admit with my first win11 install i tried it. i figured hey, gotta experience it for myself before i can make any judgements. boy was i in for a ride, that software is huuuuuuge, so many processes, registry keys and basically impossible to completely remove again... yeah no thx ^^ -

huh, that stuff sounds weird! ive always had TB/USB4 enabled thus far, same for the igpu. the only responsivess issues ive encountered here and there was with excel, but i know for a fact that my current office install is wonky, just havent come around to fixing it yet. and yes, got AMD chipset drivers installed, although i wager thats more important on X3D chips for sheduling. bro Fox, interesting to see that Intel boards face a similar issue with TB/USB4? maybe Jufes has armory crate installed, with that cancer on his system ANYthing is possible 😂 -

hm not that im aware. i had my previous 6600 kit tuned in to 6200 and tightened timings, ending up with 55 ns latency. with regards to general latency and bandwidth variations, i have seen somewhat worse results when mclk and fclk are not properly aligned, i.e. im getting the best results at a ratio of 3:1 (at 6200 Mhz that would equate to 2067 Mhz IF). most people ive seen just crank up IF to the max stable (2133 to 2200 Mhz depending on chip quality) since the general AMD stance is that synchronization doesnt matter anymore as with Zen 3 for example. but that aint the case, it does matter much less but theres still an impact. in any case, might have to do with his setup or smth particular with X3D parts. but seeing as ure not seeing the same issues, probably not. can u elaborate what exactly hes seeing? dont have wifi here and only limited amount of mobile data 😄 -
pah, the community will always find a workaround, no worries on that front 😋

aight, finally found some time to catch up on what ive missed here. welcome to the NH55 club my friend, glad you could join! 🙂 no big updates on the Premamod front, havent done any work since last Nov-ish. as mentioned, i just upgraded my lady's machine with a 2x32 GB kit at quite tight tiimings for 3200 Mhz with 16-18-18-38. so next step would be to check and see how far i can tighten the timings at 3200 mhz and/or how far i can push the clocks. next big modding phase will likely be once 14th gen is out, im optimistic that well be able to make it work on the NH55. but no promises, as usual... BLACKY! dude so good to see you here, still remember u as an OG from the NBR days 🙂 nice lil project u got there, congratz on the success! thats the type of user we need here, pushing the limits! just ask brother @Khenglish over in his WTB thread, hes planning to do exactly that lulz: hm interesting symptoms ure describing there. might really make sense to upgrade your PSU. best to keep an eye on total wattages ure consuming, i.e. via a wattmetter from the wall socket. then ull have a better idea if its really due to a weak psu. in any case, a psu upgrade wouldnt be THAT expensive, all things considered 🙂 haha u were right on @full on wife/child grind 😄 finally managing to come up for a bit of air currently.... dont count out our machines just yet, being on the same socket is already more than halfway there 😉

ah good that u spelled it out @Etern4l, i saw the video pop up but hadnt watched it yet. figured it had to do with AI though. and youre right, AI is just smth for highend gpus with tons of vRAM (unless someone comes up with the idea to be able and distribute loads across lower end gpus with less vRAM then were all done for 😅) also agreed on the indirect impact on lower end gpus, nvidia just doesnt give af about gaming gpus currently, they just throw castrated trash onto the market, slap on a ridiculous price tag and are like: take it or leave it, all the same to us. im just hoping that consumers will be able to HODL the line and not buy into it. all things considered, i cant imagine shareholders being too kind on literally NOTHING selling on the consumer market, even if itll have a smaller impact on the overall bottom line vs. before. plus, what are they gonna do with all the unsold gpus stored somewhere skyhigh in warehouses? seriously, id bet nvidia would rather just scrap them than selling them at low pricing....ugh bastards -

dont forget the most important factor: it looks fancier with just one cable exiting the gpu 😋 (lets not mention the adapter cable mess that comes after lulz) and true, suprim X is among the cards with the most oversized 4090 vrms, both in number and individually rated amperage, should be able to take quite a beating before it gives out on us... -

wait wat?! ive seen reports of the new type 4090 with max 1.07V but they cant even be crossflashed? seriously? 🫠 boy ive never been so glad to be on the early adopter / bleeding edge... ill cherish my suprim X! 😅 -

the single game i have played for the longest stretch of time (and still am!) is titan quest. i started playing it shortly after it released back in 2006 and i still havent played completely through it 😂 for one, a single playthrough takes quite a while, especially when doing all side quests. secondly, they STILL KEEP UPDATING THE DAMN THING! the most recent expansion pack actually came out in Dec-2021. in addition, there are three difficulty levels, and u need to complete the game on normal before being able to access the next higher one (normal, epic, legendary). each level brings with it unique enemy configurations / types, as well as new more powerful items. the most recent expansion eternal embers is actually only playable once u reach legendary level. what keeps me playing is the engaging story, the huge game world and the fact that u can switch up the way u play it, whether focusing on hack n slay, customizing ur character towards a certain goal or just going bonkers with collecting items. this also allows you to either play it intensely or in a laid back way, i.e. an hour each evening after work or such. -

ha i highly doubt that, at least not on the highend skus. on the plus side, we get three cpu gens on the same socket, my lady's machine will be happy about that 😁 should be a nice lil perf boost going from a 12600 to a 14900K lulz. plus imc should also provide benefits in higher ram clocks / tighter timings. yeah thats one thing nobody can really help you with: personal justification for a purchase. if youre a guy who spends his money sensibly and needs proper justification then id probably go with a good value desktop build, i.e. AM4 with a 5800X3D and a 6700XT for best gaming bang per buck currently. on the benching side, as @Papusanalready mentioned, makes more sense to bench old hardware than new, thats where most bot points can be gained anyways due to much wider range of possibilities. my desktop purchase was a mix of strategical longterm planning and going for the latest and greatest / max performance. in all my previous builds, be it desktop or laptop, my main goal was always to maximize platform longevity. i like to be able and regularly upgrade individual components while keeping the same base. thats why i went for AM5, so ill be able to keep upgrading and build around it for quite a few years to come 🙂 at the same time, i waited for the 40 series to emerge to be able and maximize the utilized lifetime of the gpu. as for proper justification for this purchase? welp, my actual usage case is a mix of work / gaming / media consumption, collection, transcoding / benching & tuning (24/7 stability, not hwbot points). that doesnt justify this kind of overpowered hardware haha. so the rest is my hardware enthusiast heart speaking 😁 -

latest rumours: rtx 50 series release date pushed to 2025 (usually 2 years would normally mean fall 2024), 4090 Ti canceled and 5090 supposedly sporting a 512 bit wide vRAM bus, but no idea yet if thats on higher performance GDDR6X vs what we have now or first gen GDDR7. you purchase decision should revolve around the following: are the prices ok for you right now? and is the leftover lifetime of the current cycle sufficient for you to not have buyer's remorse once 50 series comes out? id wager were still early in the cycle, havent even reached the midway point yet. so u got about 1.5-2 years left to enjoy the 4090 as the top dog basically. -

geez cant decide whether to laugh or cry at that 🥲 -
so gaiz, whats happening here? still some NH55 owners around? i just upgraded my lady's machine to a 2x32 GB 3200 mhz Mushkin Redline kit for her bday (not her main present, dont worry haha). wanted to start tuning it soon, see how far i can take it. the previous 2x8 GB 3800 mhz kit maxed out at 3500 mhz in gear 1 and 3800 mhz in gear 2. but might also be related to the IMC of the 12600 shes using. (if anyone is interested, im currently selling the 3800 sticks, 2 out of 4 left). as for cpu upgrades, lets see what we can do about the upcoming 14900K... 😋

Meh....between the threat of nuclear war flaring up every once in a while (latest in ukraine war), the ever accelerating pace of climate change and new extreme weather phenomena being encountered every single year and overall natural resources getting scarce (farmland, potable water, rare earth metals, etc), i think AI is currently still our smallest problem in terms of "threat to humanity" 😋 LLMs being able to mimick human chat partners doesnt mean theyll develop general intelligence of their own and try to take over the world / extinguish humanity anytime soon... back to blissful ignorance! 😁
