haha ure turning heads, congratz! are you gonna take him up on his offer? might wanna ask what they have in mind with "something nice" from EVGA. too bad they dont make GPUs anymore 😄 aw man, wish i could join u guys in CPU and RAM OC here, had a loooot to catch up on esp regarding Ryzen 7000 tuning. but im now slowly getting an idea of what settings matter and what approaches would be promising. in any case, currently started off with tuning the 4090, easiest and quickest to do for now 😛 got +1550 Mhz stable for 24/7 on the vRAM (= 24.1 Gbps), now turning my focus on the core. lets see what we get! really happy with the STRIX OC vbios so far, lets me downclock and force way lower limits than before for desktop usage. also not bumping into power limits anymore, which is nice! 🙂 lets see if it stays that way once i start bumping up the core. -
yep at first i was thinking of that as well. but its not available in europe, which i assume is the OP's location due to him/her citing prices in €. so would have to add shipping and import taxes from the US, Korea, China or Taiwan (those are the listings ive seen so far on ebay).

of course u can stop working for that, gotta set priorities! btw, reporting from a fully functioning "Strix OC 4090" 😄 ur pointers helped! reinstalling the driver helped bring back the display output after bios flash. 600W TDP FTW! now to test and be on the lookout, should the Neptune 630W vBios ever drop... -
ya man, i will for sure. after being back from SG its been way too cold here in europe. although i must say the current fall is unusually warm...like, 22C at end of Oct? wth... in any case, gonna soak some serious SUN in mexico yehaw! btw man, all the best for the upcoming birth! i still got a bit of time left until mid march 😅

aha! that might be the culprit. i have automatic driver install disabled and the driver im running is a custom one, not the standard crap direct from Nvidia. so might make sense for me to remove the driver first, flash vbios, then try again for a display signal. Jay had a very similar issue with the STRIX OC 4090 where it wouldnt be properly initialized due to the driver. thanks for the info, definitely worth checking out! main reason why id like to flash is the increased 600W TDP some other AIB cards are offering. im noticing that in a lot of instances my card bounces off the 520W stock max limit, so the 600 could help out in this regard! -

yes checking all display outputs was something i tried. however, would u recommend doing a fresh boot every time i switch to another output? i just did it while it was sitting on the windows login screen. but with every output the display would come out of standby for a few seconds, searching for a signal before finding none and going back to standby. i get that @cant afford this stuff. especially with those neverending price increases. at some point, who do they expect to buy their stuff? maybe thats part of the long game plan to push everyone to cloud services, subsciption for everything! including hardware, ugh... -
omg dude, u gave me a heart attack, i misunderstood the topic in stating that Linux is planning to drop x86 support LOL as for ther 486 specifically, no real opinion tbh. even if they drop it ud still be able to run older Linux versions on the hardware, should be good enough. frees up space for newer hardware.

cool i can see that ure leaving a nice wide gap from the gpu power connector for it to not bend much, well done. those news currently floating around about melting power connectors make me a bit uneasy about my new monster desktop 😅
-
at PCIe 3.0 4x u cant go wrong with the 970 Evo Plus, tbh. Samsung's reliability in all things SSD is still pretty much unbeaten to this day. @cylix the KC3000 wont help him much on PCIe 3.0 mate 😄

OMFG ive been wondering about EXACTLY this the whole time! cores are stuck at 5.5 Ghz at stock, like wth?!?! now it makes sense! unfortunately i cant go back to 0611 cuz one of the major updates in 0705 bios is improved compatibility with 40 series gpus 😅 but hey, still got the option of just switching off C state power saving measures entirely, problem solved.

lulz i know the feeling man, the upgrading / tinkering is sometimes the main part of the fun. the actual utilization is then underwhelming. i mean im currently running my 4090 at a measly 100-150W TDP while replaying the Wolfenstein series, thats all it takes for the games to be maxxed out at 4K LOL but nevertheless im having sooooo much fun, omg. loving Hyperion 😍

noice. and ha, looks like were sporting the same RAM, except me in black and the 6600 flavour. tbh i didnt really care about the design color, just chose the cheaper one at the time of purchase 😄 dude, very impressive. looks very "ice-cold" hahaha. but seriously, that's a showcase level build for sure! itll still take some time for me to do the leftover finetuning and order / install the parts im still missing, but thats ok. for now, me and the missus will be off to Mexico for our honeymoon, after which well be moving to a new appartment. real life getting in the way of hardware fun as usual haha 😛

great, now i got that song from Top Gun stuck in my head @goodnes gracious, great balls of fire! 🤣 but its good that Nvidia takes these reports seriously. what im hoping for is an improved connector with sturdier cables / 90 degree connector / thicker plastic isolation which will be offered as a free replacement by the Nvidiots and the AIBs. fingers crossed! lulz. the funny think about this is that they still do 4 via those octopus adapter cables. but in that case Nvidia and the AIBs can push the blame to the consumer for not being up to snuff with sub ATX 3.0 PSUs, such peasants who dare buy a 4090! but with native 4x8 pin would be an embarrassment, of course...who cares about safety margins, its all about thin n light baby! even with bigass brick style gpus 😄 yep thats exactly what i was afraid of, cheapass prebuilt systems with "pseudo-highend" hardware being sloppily slapped together causing fire hazards in unsuspecting people's homes, yay.... huh so A-Die silicon lottery spead is wider than M-Die but its peaks can reach higher levels than M-Die? loving me some hardware pr0n 😍 awesome temp improvements there! while we are on the topic of crossflashing vBios, i got a question for you and the rest: ive been trying to crossflash the vBios on my Suprim X 4090 and it results in a black screen every time. system still works, it boots into windows, but no display output. other users on overclock.net have reported successful cross-flashing on the Suprim X, so im wondering whats up in my case? along the same lines, i have noticed that display output comes up only veeeery late on my system after power on. basically, whenever i want to enter bios, i need to switch to the iGPU, otherwise ill always miss the right moment to press Del / F2 to enter Bios. funkily, it doesnt help if i just spam it the whole time, i can see via the Mobo Q Codes that Bios is successfully entered but display output never comes up. its only initialized once i am on the windows logon screen. so....what gives? could a manual switch to PCIe 4.0 on the gpu slot help out? ive read that "Auto" setting might cause some funky troubles sometimes. in any case, any input appreciated guys! yes id like one please 😛 are you though? 😄 similar to lots of tech youtubers, i could understand if after some extended period of time things tend to get....repetitive, i guess? basically, every new gen brings the same old questions, same perf gains, etc. plus, the added barricades from the OS side and crappier games tend to restrict actual use of new hardware. understandable if one gets jaded in that context. haha just like above, one might get more and more frugal as time passes. just being "content" and not crazily excited anymore like a youngling 😄 -
LOL i TOLD u that usually they allow u to split up 8 pin connectors to 2x4 😄 but im happy ure covered now! speaking of covered, Caseking replied and will get in touch with Phanteks for them to send me spare parts 🙂

another sign that u got quite the golden chip right there. lucky guy! 🙂 geez....i keep checking my 4090 connector like every day now, dammnit! 😛 this. doesnt even take an idiot for such a thing to occur. take any pre-built systems for example, like recently reviewed again by GN: cpu running at 100C due to upside down installed fans sucking the air from each other. plus, if u think how we normally treat power cables when managing them, i myself routed them neatly on the backside but then mashed them all together in the dead space next to the PSU. its how its done and cables SHOULD be able to take that. but this one is so fragile and finicky, urgh... i just feel lucky that i chose such a behemoth case as the Enthoo Pro 2 that is more than wide enough to let the connector "breathe" before the bent downward comes. right on, enough with the laziness! gotta gear up for the raptor! 😄 and i get what u mean, some things u do 100 times but stil have a funny feeling inside... i made the mistake of giving win11 a chance and now im suffering for my sins 🥲 can only hope upcoming updates will relieve some of that pain...currently like zero time to do a fresh install. can barely keep up here in the forum, hence the bigass multi-quote replies 😛 show-off! 😄 yep same here. as mentioned above, id say most enthusiasts just smash cables together when managing them on the backside, they should be able to take that and not burst into flames right away... -
if hes in luck they might be out of the 2080S 😉

welcome back to the fold buddy! have a look around, im pretty sure ull find a lot of familiar NBR faces around 🙂

hope this gets sorted out quickly!

WHAT?! 600-700€ on the case, wth are u doing my man! focus on the function / performance, dont get lost in the looks / form! 😄 glad the bios update helped you out, its to be expected that RAM compatibility will improve over time. im currently also just running a ruick n dirty 6000 setting, havent started proper tuning yet on the RAM. i started ocing on the 4090, at present finetuning vRAM, looks like +1580 Mhz could be stable, resulting in 24.2 Gbps, not bad! next up will be the core, but im already frequently bumping into the 520W limit of the vbios, hm.... so far my attempts at crossflashing have been unsuccessful, black screen every time. at least dual vbios is helpful in this regard, easy to recover 🙂 in any case, 600 or 630W vbios is needed! but the Suprim X cooling is absolutely amazing, both for vRAM and core, even under heaviest loads like FurMark, core/vRAM temps only went to mid 70s with hotspot in the low 80s. mind you, this is with basically nonexistent case cooling yet since im still missing all my case fans 😄 regarding Caseking, thats good to hear. i dont mind waiting a bit, its not like its something urgent. as long as they take care of me, its all well 🙂

i think that price drop will come soon enough on AM5... plus Intel is already angering the vendors since they have to cut down the margins so badly that theres barely anything left for the shops. when was the last time that Intel actually competed on price and value, that u can remember? they only do that if they dont have anything else left to lose, should tell u smth...

lulz, knowing Fox OF COURSE hes gonna get smth like an SP150, the cpu wouldnt dare not to be good 😄 damn dude, first thing i just did was triple check the bend on my 16 pin connector 😅 yep, signs are good for uncle Fox to get his godtier 13900K 😁 holy guacamole, that SP increase is absolutely insane, 2.4x!!! 😮 ngl, if it turns out to beat the 4090 ill be the first to cheer AMD on, NGreedia needs a lesson in humility! dont u worry bud, in your hands such things turn out to be SP1000 rated compared to us others 😄 fun fact that wasnt mentioned a lot: the 7950X was actually the only Zen 4 chip that sold like hot cakes, as well. only the lower tier chips didnt find a lot of buyers. see? toldcha 😄 and so it begins...
