yep your choice really depends on what ure focussing on for an upgrade or new build. if ure already on alder lake then its a no brainer since its a simple drop in. if ure the kinda guy who upgrades his platform every 1-2 years anyways, then it doesnt bother u that socket 1700 is a dead one due to last supported gen. on the other hand, if ure looking for a longterm build for multiple dropin cpu upgrades and dont mind the high initial cost then ryzen 7000 all the way. welp, thats arithmetic mean for ya dude, just flattens out all valleys and peaks 😄 seems like ure rather looking at the mode instead. in the end it just depends on which games ure testing or playing. every game will show u different results. -
yes true, 2.5" speeds are always a bit on the low side. also better check if that model is SMR, dont recall.
-
whats ur take on toshiba drives? based on reviews their MG09 line with MAMR tech is supposed to be super fast and comparably quiet. im having my eye on the 18TB model for backup purposes. we actually use that 5TB 2.5" model as an external drive in this household 🙂 i originally used it myself, then gave it to my lady when i moved on to SSD only. purchased it in Aug-2017, so pretty much exactly 5 years ago and still holding up quite nicely to this day.

duuuude, i only just saw this thread thx to brother @ryan posting, sick machine! especially those Vs in SLI, holy guacamole! u still holding on to all those gpus?

LOL, um....

still too early to tell, most people willing to upgrade are likely waiting for RPL, GPUs and B650 for AM5 (which MLID mentions, as well). but in general this is not surprising, after the pandemic craze where EVERYONE and their dog bought hardware nobody is willing to upgrade again already (except the crazy few here at NBT haha). also, regarding that 95C, its just a temp target that u can disable or adjust as you see fit. most reviewers just dont mention that part 😛

the 3090Ti does roughly 100 fps at 4K: since the 3090 is only a few percent slower id say youd actually be scratching 200 fps at 4K with a 4090 and around 100 fps at 8K 🙂 take this with a grain of salt, of course, since were talking napkin math here 😄 -
haha thanks man, appreciate the kind words! if i had the money id get one of these systems each for the top 20 NBT members 🤪 that would be awesome hahaha! and yes, im noticing that @perfect time to buy. pandemic pricing is JUST over, new gens JUST launched, new DDR5, new AMD platform with longterm support, new CPUs, new GPUs, perfect! as they say in business: you should always behave anti-cyclic, i.e. do what the majority does not do. the majority bought like crazy during the pandemic, and now nobody is buying, so here i am 😁🤠 btw, update on the mobo: i found a different shop in the meantime that has it IN STOCK / READY TO SHIP ASAP aaaaaaand its even 110€ cheaper mwahaha! plus they also offer the Asus cashback promotion, so triple win! will update OP to reflect that 😎🤘

having troubles keeping up with my limited daily reaction budget! classic papu post if there ever was one 😁 dude, ill be more than happy to take those "crappy" TeamGroup sticks off your hands for the price of the OEM green PCB A-Dies. someone's gotta take one for the team amirite? 😂 -
unfortunately not much to go by yet, im guessing these kinda bugs are being ironed out on all mobos. i guess thats the price u pay for being on the bleeding edge 😉 keep us updated on ur purchasing decision bud! righteous indeed 😄 aw man in a perfect world id just wait another month and see what RDNA brings to the table. id love to give them my gpu money just to smite Nvidia, those egomaniac bastards! but since im pressed for (gaming/mancave/free) time, im just grabbing whatever comes first, and thats the 4090, so team green it is... nevertheless, trust me if i say ill cheer AMD on if their 7900XT manages to kick the 4090's butt, I'd totally be happy for them to finally teach Ngreedia a lesson in humility 🙂

Arc Alchemist on October 12 - who's gonna be our guinea pig?
jaybee83 replied to Sandy Bridge's topic in Desktop Hardware
if they decide to go professional / server only, thatll still leave u EOL for consumer product drivers... in any case, please DO update us if u decide to get one 🙂 still very curious -
hmmm....you might want to have a look at the Asrock X670E Taichi Carrara, it sports this kind of marble-ish white pattern. Hardware wise it does seem to be better than the Asus Strix Gaming Wifi with stronger VRMs, USB4 support, internal power and reset buttons and more PCIe 5.0 slots. BUT... i kinda have a bad taste in my mouth recommending an Asrock board here 😅 this is not based on personal experience but just going by their childish behaviour as in blacklisting GN and HUB for criticizing their crappy mobos or cheating / cheaping out on those same crappy mobos (i.e. listing support for the 12900K but gimping it to max. 65/105W hardlocked in bios). admittedly, this was all for their lower range mobo stuff, but still... just that u know! aside from that, the Asus Gaming Wifi seems to be the highest end AM5 board in white so far (at least thats available for sale in europe)

yep, absolutely. one of the things id be on the lookout for in upcoming bios revisions would be improvement of memory compatibility, i think in that regard well likely see a lot of tuning being done. especially with DDR5 speeds taking crazy strides currently. -

haha i think thats a pretty good indicator for demand 😄 -
what can i say, only the best for my lady and her gear (and more toys for me to play around with 😂) however, im not planning to get her an RPL cpu anytime soon, ill likely wait for 14th gen to come out first and prices to drop. Alfred is already overpowered as it is for her needs 😄 yep, as usual wait for third party reviewers to show us proper data. whatever the case, i have the feeling itll be veeeery close, give and take depending on the benches. competition is sooooo awesome....

makes sense man, i wont be building a new rig two years from now either, so no need to call it quits on a 2020 rig yet. oh totally on the 4090, the 3000 series is a cursed generation from my point of view, completely messed up due to pandemic demands. if i werent in such a tight spot regarding timing, id actually wait for RDNA3 and give Nvidia the middle finger out of spite for their atrocious practices. but, it is as it is! in the meantime, got an update from the shop i ordered the mobo from: seems like the distributors had to push back their delivery dates, which kinda sucks. but at least theres no other rando in front of me and it looks like every other shop is affected by this, as well. literally nothing in stock anywhere for the Asus X670E Extreme. so far that is "kind of" acceptable, since ill have to wait for the case until 07-Oct anyways for it to get back in stock. so its not all lost yet 😛 edit: btw i just noticed i totally DERPED on the poll and forgot to include Raptor Lake + RDNA3 as an option! u guys think this might actually be a viable option for peeps? or would it be more like "if you go Intel then u dont do AMD GPUs"?

see, with me being out of the desktop game for so long, this kinda stuff is invaluable info. on laptop u basically had two bios versions to deal with: stock and PremaMOD. and once u flash the latter, u wouldnt ever wanna go back anyways 😄 -
