duuuude, dont make me regret my purchase like 5 minutes after i made it 🤣 but thats ok, here the warranty is actually handled by the shop u purchased from, so i naturally chose one that had a long standing reputation and good customer support. nice lil addon: asus has a promotion going on currently where u can get 100€ cashback plus another 25€ if you leave a review on the purchased X670 mobo. not bad! oh boy thats gonna be sooooo clooooose between the 13900K and 7950X! looking at the gaming benches, the 5800X3D still stands strong compared to the 13900K and thats saying something in Intel's own slides. as for the 7950X, really depends which review ure looking at, its either slightly ahead of both the 12900K and 5800X3D or slightly behind, so overall on par Id say. CB R23 single thread will likely go to Intel, but for gaming i think itll be more murky. as for multithread, no idea either to be honest. depending on how much they were able to pimp up their baby cores they might squeeze out a win here and there. overall pretty close fight and fierce competition, means WE win as consumers *mwahaha*. in the end i chose to go with whats available first and which platform has the highest chance for long term support 🙂 u said it bro! AMD really tickled the giants and gave us competition again! i love it! and THAT how u do it 😎🤘 rock on bud -
btw man thx for the headsup on the cashback promotion! turns out i get 100€ cashback on the Asus board, NICE! ill put that straight to the 4090 lol delid pretty likely for me, bare die not sure yet. for that ill likely have to switch to custom loop. however, if i can still mount the AiO then itll be indeed a no-brainer. ok cool man, gimme some time to write up the OP with all the components and some pics / reasoning for my buying decisions 🙂 lulz, my own little sub-forum, i like that idea 😄 as mentioned above, gimme some time to whip up something good.

wanna hear something hilarious? thats the board i got 🤣 but for 230€ cheaper with Alternate 😛 i got the AF II 420, hoping that should be "sufficient" to keep that beast cool haha. ill switch out the stock ARGB fans with 6 Noctua IPPC 3000rpm fans and use the stock fans for added case cooling instead. should be sweet! btw, i think its time i open a Build thread 😉

aaand done, actually went with ASUS on this one. i prefer 4 dimm slots since capacity is also a factor for work related stuff. ill still try to squeeze more Mhz out of the sticks, naturally 😛 reason why i chose Asus over Gigabyte and MSI were sturdier VRMs, USB4 included, 10G LAN and overall more balanced package. the others always had something lacking and if possible i wanna keep this board until AM5 is EOL, so i dont mind paying more now. excited! oh one more thing that convinced me to go Asus: they have this nifty feature implemented where u can automatically switch between stock boost algorithm for max single thread and manual all core OC for max multi thread performance. best of both worlds 🙂 delid tool looks definitely interesting, will keep tabs on that. bare die frame not sure yet, so far im going with the AF II 420 AiO, so bare die would only be sensible if i switch to custom loop down the road. -
yeah i checked their mobo section right away to see if i can bundle it up with the CPU. unfortunately, they dont seem to carry any Asus boards yet? hmmmm

7950X ordered now for the mobo....hmmmmm -
LOL welp someone has to do the "dirty work" i guess 🤣🤘 aight, just a few more minutes... edit: BAM! ordered 7950X with Mindfactory at MSRP woooooooo! now for the mobo....
-
i know right, ugh....what are they thinking? but yeah, its the early adopter milking tax, which im gonna have to pay up i guess. currently glued to the EU shops and checking my phone like every 10 minutes to finally see the cpus and mobos go live 😛

ha, what a "coincidence" that its likely at the same time of Zen 4 shop availability 🤣 so predictable! -
GN asked EVGA directly about this "non-compete" contract thingy and they basically got laughed out of the building for asking this. theres definitely no such thing going on 😄 in general, i think its just too early to make any rash decisions for them yet. plus, they still have about a year or so of Ampere stock left, so theyll need to get that out, as well.

duuude, jealous! keep us updated on if u can reach that fabled 8000! for now ill settle with M-Die at 6800-7000 😛 LOL i was wondering why u said RPL launch today/tomorrow, isnt their announcement still like a month away or so? in any case, good to know pricing already! is pretty much in line with the leaks. -

from their perspective its the other way around tho: that 95C is a set target to let the chip boost as much as possible to get the max performance out of a given cooling method. cpus becoming more and more like gpus with fluent boosting behaviour and set target temp. were still able to switch off that target and do manual tuning tho, so best of both worlds. always good to have options! -

considering it made existing AM4 coolers (mostly) compatible with AM5 it was a good move. and for most consumers not really something they would lose a thought about. us freaks will at least now still have the option to further unleash the beast 🙂 -

absolutely, 20+ C lower is totally insane! and delidding doesnt seem to be as difficult as expected due to the SMDs on the cpu top. im curious to see how much improvent a simple delid and relid would bring. also, im betting custom IHS with SMALLER thickness could be incoming for Zen 4. maybe even with larger contact area? in any case, ill be on the lookout for that stuff 🙂 on a side note, anyone noticed this new teamgroup ram kit yet? DDR5-7200 incoming! surprisingly cheap, as well, considering DDR5 pricing. https://www.newegg.com/team-32gb/p/N82E16820331923?Item=N82E16820331923 -

yep i noticed the same, GN was suspecting scheduling issues from the game side. all in all though surprisingly little issues mentioned. but best to check for real user input for this kinda stuff, since reviewers tend to run things utlra vanilla stock. judging by the data ive gathered to far, Zen 4 beats ADL by a mile in terms of productivity, but only catches up / barely beats it in gaming. so RPL could be slightly behind in productivity and slightly ahead in gaming. should be very interesting match up! -

ouch, i felt that zing! 😛 thx for the clarification, that makes more sense now. i agree with the notion that even though AMD is actually kicking Intel in the butt and managed to get them "up to speed" again, it still seems like Intel is just doing the bare minimum to barely stay on top, even if its just on single thread performance. at the same time, AMD seems to have gotten a taste of "being on top" and what do we get? core stagnation. they could have surely progressed to a 24 core top sku, but why bother, right? from a business perspective, it doesnt make sense to go all out if there is no actual need. in this context, im very very curious about how Intel will react to the X3D 7000 cpus next spring. afaik they dont really have anything in the pipeline to directly address that, except maybe a 13900KS overclocked to kingdom come? 😅 MLID recently made a good point on this, i.e. with X3D AMD might be in a position to basically offer 13900K gaming performance in a frigging laptop (thin n light crap of course), Intel wont have anything to offer against that since they cant go stupid in terms of wattage in a laptop form factor. but hey, who knows, maybe THATLL finally be motivation enough to bring back the glory days of big fat desktop laptops 😄 all that being said, i think we also shouldnt step into the trap of "expecting too much". best example was all those rumours for the 40 series listing ever more crazy performance claims, 2x, 3x, 4x or even more. same for wattages going to 800W+ at stock. im not saying that none of those numbers MIGHT come true in the future (4090Ti) or in some special use cases (Nvidiot Racer X "game"), but the gist of the matter being: it would be silly to be disappointed at 50+% generational performance jumps! this doesnt include pricing of course, purely performance perspective. hey bud, did u forget to add something to my quoted message? its just tacked on at the end of ur post 😄 -

crap...about 150€ more than i expected / was hoping for. then again, some other shop in Spain listed the same card for 2050, so theres still hope....besides, still early! we still got 2.5 more weeks to go! fingers crossed! thanks for the headsup btw 🙂 first up: no fanboy here, ive had both intel/amd cpus and nvidia/amd gpus going to whatever camp offers the best deal for my needs and wants. that being said.... what exactly is "meh" about almost 30% more single thread performance and 25-42% more multi thread performance inside a single cpu gen? those kinda jumps we usually only see on the gpu side. look back a few years and this wouldve been unheard of! this kind of perf progression is basically what we got back in the Sandy Bridge days, only now we get these kinda jumps from BOTH intel and AMD! seriously, whats not to like about this? -
yup same here. too bad, i was getting into the reading flow and suddenly got interrupted by the missing images 😄 will check back again later!
