  1. thats what id call superb forum cooperation. good job there guys, makes me happy to see such threads 🙂 like a well oiled machine 😁
  2. every member and post / thread counts! 🙂
  3. problem is always the wife approval factor and the flexibility of your wallet 😄 i feel ya! haha dunno yet what settings im gonna use for the RGB, but its not a high priority tbh. gonna feel my way through the build first, its been a hot minute! im thinking of opening up a component list / order / build / presentation thread to showcase the new baby 🙂 should be fun! its hilarious to see how much "good value" the 4090 is compared with the crap 4080 cards below it 😄 makes u wonder why so many tech enthusiasts are becoming more and more cynical, eh? helps u deal with the fax... all power to AMD, for sure. ill be cheering the red team on to crush Nvidia's 40 series, even with a 4090 tucked in my system. i mean, heck! Moore's law is dead actually QUOTED Nvidia's own engineers being surprised by the steep pricing of the 40 series and ACTUALLY ROOTING FOR AMD AT THIS POINT! imagine that for a second, how messed up is that? i for one think one of the major reasons the 40 series is clocked and powered SO damn high is for team green to make sure they stay on top of AMD. this likely means AMD has something SERIOUS to counter offer in November...lets watch the showdown and hope for some good competition, especially with Nvidia being such a dick lately. funny actually, i saw this max. 30 cycles note on Zotac's website while researching 4090 cards from AIBs and bam 1-2 days later Jay makes a video about that 😄 in any case, this whole situation makes one very cautious when choosing the power supply. im currently set on the latest Seasonic TX-1600, although its not fully ATX 3.0 specced ("only" up to 1000W for ATX 3.0), but the only alternative right now is a Thermaltake 1650W 80Plus Gold psu with ATX 3.0. ugh....i hope more options will come out SOON, otherwise how am i gonna keep this monster gpu juiced? hey bro, I heard you're a bit tight on storage... ðŸĪĢðŸĪ˜ (but look whos talking, amirite? haha) thats a big fat nothing burger out of the box without any context, i.e. ambient temps, cooling setup, etc. as for those DLSS 3 "fake frames" im kinda curious of this tech. if this turns out to be somewhat well implemented it might be a nice way to postpone next-gen gpu purchases for a while in the future. i know i know, for now only 40 series supported, but backport to 30 series or even open source alternative from AMD wouldnt be out of the question.
  4. welp thats a kick in their reputation... havent seen or heard about that, but havent been following latest thermal paste developments. still using my bigass tube of kryonaut, gonna last me a while longer 😄 in combo with my huge supply of Gallinstan supercheap ebay LM haha so what exactly was wrong with it? pump out / drying? high variance between batches? unwanted separation of components?
  5. sounds nifty but also kinda annoying if not implemented properly. i for one am a pretty straight shooter in this regard, i just disable all sleep states / hibernation features entirely and just use high perf ON or machine switched off 😛 NO WAY! Geforce Experience causing problems?! YOURE LYING! ðŸĪĢ
  6. back on topic guys, i really hope we can bring this machine over to Raptor Lake, pimp it up with a 24 core 32 thread 13900K, wouldnt that be sweet 🙂 definitely in the books as an upgrade path sometime down the line for my lady! but ill first wait for prices to come down... next week ill be sniping a 7950X and having my eyes on an ROG X670E Extreme mobo to go along with it. lets see how many kidneys ill have to give up for that combo 😅
  7. black is sleek for sure! my new built will also be quite blacked out, although i got some RGB sprinkles here and there to make it pop a bit.
  8. hmmm....remains to be seen how "unaffected" Nvidia will be. especially considering that EVGA made up a whopping 40% of the gpu market in the US, those are crazy numbers! plus it opens the door for the remaining AIBs to make their voices heard, add to that the reputation damage for Nvidia...although I have to say there wasnt much left to damage, anyways lulz
  9. u got the right one, id say by now NBT can be considered the official NBR replacement 🙂 welcome back into the fold!
  10. wooo one more to join the NBT partay! welcome back mate, looking forward to your input here in the Clevo section 🙂 NBR Clevo gang FTW ðŸĪ˜
  11. i think for now they just need some time to reorganize and get their new priorities straight. as understanding as their actions against Nvidia are and as honorable as EVGA's CEO appears to be, i also got the feeling that he follows a thick-headed approach to things, i.e. "were gonna do / not gonna do this because I say so and it feels right". give it some time, im pretty sure EVGA still has something to contribute to the PC component market 🙂
  12. depends on the sticks id wager. iirc the Kingston HyperX 2133 sticks are actually SPD programmed, so should be pnp.
  13. Titan V SLI mod? deetz! 😄
  14. yep, with EVGA out of the picture i was a bit in a pickle and had to do some research on the other AIBs. seems like ill get the Zotac top tier 4090, mainly due to their 5yr warranty option after registration. considering the gpu will make up roughly 25-30% of the total system cost, i think warranty will be my main focus 😅 plus im curious see that curvy 4090 cooler in real life 😄 aside from that, 9 heatpipes, vapour chamber, dual bios and 24+4 VRM design sounds good to me! isnt the issue compatibility though? morpheus II has been around for quite a while... um....WHAT exactly made TH give that piece of crap 4 out of 5?! wth ðŸ˜ĩ the very first thing bro papu will do with white components and white crocs is grab a black sharpie and go nuts ðŸĪĢ sweet setup! im also hoping for enough space in our next appartment (currently on the lookout) to set up a monster desk for my monster build. a guy needs space in his man cave! 😁
  15. oh wow that was fast! wasnt MX-5 basically only just released? makes me wonder why they suddenly sped up their cycle... i keep wondering if the Honeywell 7950 performance is due to its material properties, i.e. being able to balance out wonky laptop heatsinks or if its thermal conductivity is really THAT good. im cautiously tending towards the former, considering this paste is used for mass production OEM purposes.
  16. one @Mr. Fox rant a day keeps the doctor / BGA sickness away 😁 always refreshing and a pleasure bro haha. tho i have the sinking feeling u are indeed correct, the NH55JNNQ machine i got for my lady will likely be the last highend laptop I ever purchased. Ill try to keep it alive and kicking as long as possible. as for my Batman P751DM, ill likely be selling it off in parts (be on the lookout in the NBT marketplace for that!) to be able and use the money for the monster desktop and a new phone (waiting for the Pixel 7 series in Oct)
  17. depends on the paste and its viscosity, but in general its also no biggie. ull only need to get a feeling of how much paste is adequate for ur particular chip / heatspreader size. after a few tries ull get the hang of it, for sure 🙂
  18. oh dont get me wrong, the knowledge and skills is there, alongside the willingness to share and help out fellow enthusiasts. its more about the interest and engagement being the bottleneck regarding a specific sub-topic or "branch". doesnt help anyone if we have dozens sub forums with most of them sparsely populated, if at all.
  19. haha yep nice analogy
  20. NBR Clevo Gang unite! welcome back 😁
  21. i put my sights on the upcoming Pixel 7 Pro. sick n tired of walled gardens, i want my customization freedom back!
  22. if youre comfortable with it, choose the base config and get everything else via aftermarket upgrades, i.e. installing it yourself. anything related to RAM and storage is a breeze, same with wifi. gpu i would get with the machine, cpu depends on if socketed or not.
  23. soon super broke gamer kid coming through... 😅☠ïļ u know, this is really ridiculous, pricing for the 4090 is actually "senseful" when considering inflation, but 3080 and 3080 fake edition are just bonkers. shouldnt it be the other way around? for anyone looking for a nextgen gpu ill also recommend waiting to see what RDNA3 has to offer, this gen should be the most competitive ever vs. Nvidia, the only reason why the green goblin decided to go so overboard with power consumption = keep the performance crown at any price (and 4090 Ti in the back hand just in case AMD surprises them). unfortunately for me waiting will not be an option, so my eyes are fixed on the 4090. my lady and me got our first kid on the way (yay!) due in mid march, which simply means: an extra month waiting is an extra month gaming time lost ðŸĪŠ with EVGA out of the picture, im now considering Asus, MSI or Zotac due to their warranties and/or known well built cooling designs / power deliveries. i think in the end ill just have to check and see how aftermarket pricing looks like for the respective models and decide spontaneously... one thing is for sure though: at 1949₮ 4090 pricing in Europe, AIB cards will likely START at 2100-2200₮ *sigh* (please let the Zen 4 chips be a bit cheaper than the first placeholder prices listed in France!)
  24. very nicely summed up my friend... so, whos up for a 40 series card this october? my focus is on the 4090 now. i know it would make more sense to wait and see what RDNA 3 brings to the table, but "unfortunately" my gaming days are numbered since we got a kid on the way. so gotta use the time i have left as best i can, which means: 4090 it is for me 😅
