  1. Since @ryan decided to necro this thread with the same old hum and drum, I will be locking it.
  2. Half of pcie ssd's is still far greater than SATA based SSD's Though the one thing I would be curious about is 4K-Random and if that stays above SATA thresholds. I personally dont care much for PCIE based storage solutions in a system I am typing documents on or gaming.
  3. I think the issue was originally brought up on NBR which caused it's own series of arguments. The main issue at that time that I could gather was there wasn't any way to manipulate the systems behavior under battery operation like you could on most Intel based systems. Sadly that thread also just became a shouting match of individuals arguing for their positions instead of something more constructive. Gotta say though @Papusan being called out as amd fan boy, nearly choked on my drink lol
  4. All of a sudden xfire and sli start to make sense again. Look at the product stack, nothing looks appealing. Double up on what you have? Sure I guess. Too bad that option is off the table now.
  5. Deleted off topic content.
  6. Basically sounds like you are looking for a Traditional 1800 styled keyboard. Leopold makes one of the best pre-built products on that front, basically the same I have been eyeing for some time now. The mech switch is more or less subjective but you can get the above unit that @saturnotaku suggested in a few different types. There is also the Keychron Q5 but its too pricey, the V5 seems to get the point across at 90 USD, not sure what it would cost to you though @Papusan as shipping and VAT might drive it above the budget. I havent used any of their products yet so I cant speak to them personally, on paper look pretty good?
  7. Full size meaning what exactly? Dedicated Function keys I would assume given what you like to do, but what about standout arrow keys and standout numpad?
  8. The bios is in the Alienware club on the forum. Also the full write ip is still available on the nbrchive :)
  9. Its an interesting concept, I never tried it myself yet but there is a pretty devoted following on those types of boards so it obviously works really well for those that click with it. That looks like a clean keyboard, nice aesthetic! The one keyboard I have always wanted, but for reasons that I cant articulate, never bought, is the Leopold FC980M. I'd like for my next keyboard to have QMK functions though so that once again rules out the FC980M, but I can get the layout through other means.
  10. @ssj92 Is one the resident mad scientist who has the M18xR2 and Alienware 18, should be able to point you in the right direction.
  11. Welcome to the forums, some of the communities' regulars peruse the Alienware sub-forum. I had also upgraded my Ranger to a 1070, it was an interesting experience :)
  12. Oh a split keyboard? The layout reminds a bit of the Tidbit Snap. Never tried using that layout. Did you naturally gravitate towards that form factor or just decide to take the plunge one day?
  13. Good Morning All, Just wanted to get a keyboard thread started, a lot of the stuff I do with revolves around various means of input so I figured I would start this as I plan to start making a semi-custom Traditional 1800 board after I do a bit more research. What kind of keyboards does everyone use? I used to pretend that I dont really belong in the hobbyist mechanical keyboard realm, but that doesnt seem to be an honest rendition of the current situation, haha. For now, what I have is the following... IBM Model M w/ the ol' Bluckling Spring Durgod Full-Size keyboard, Cherry MX Brown WASD Keybaords Code v3 TKL Cherry MX Blue Pok3r Vortex 60% Cherry MX Nature White Nullbitsco Tidbit, QMK, OLED, Rotary Encoder, Numpad w/ Cherry MX Black I find myself enjoying the Nature Whites the most, not so much the 60% layout though, it has its charms. I have long since desired a traditional 1800 keyboard as it reminds me of the Alienware 17 R1 keyboard, which I also enjoyed. Previously have always been a big fan of the MX browns (still am) but the Nature Whites are fantastic to type and game on. I am thinking of getting a QMK powered, "custom" Traditional 1800 PCB and build it out with MX Nature Whites.

  15. Yeah, HR is a pleasant way of saying corporate spin doctors. Now I'm tasked with replacing her, an IT professional by trade and years of experience with unskilled labor hired off the street. Probably time for me to review my options.
  16. A coworker of mine that I have been training for the 6 months was fired today. I was hoping she would be able to replace me in my current role but HR got involved, and now she is gone. Like I tell everyone, the more HR gets involved, the less Human I feel. The one honest person I have come across and they got rid of her. Meanwhile I have more expensive people around me that cant scan a barcode accurately, show up when ever they want and dictate the terms of their roles. Truly gutted
  17. Content and quoted content has been removed, @Aaron44126 post will remain so that context is provided. Thanks All

I could think of worse things to do to kill time during a teams call.
  19. Yep, I will be addressing this with Hiew IRL next time I see him, things appear to slowing a bit with both our work lives so we I intend to hopefully address a number of holes overall on the forum.
