  1. Settled @ 5.0Ghz for now until I can spend the time on the homework. This Taichi 5700 XT is a dog, my PowerColor card did much better but also let me push 2.2Ghz versus the 2050-2080Mhz this one will hold. Though this is also without the additional soft mods. Kind of irritates me, might just throw in the towel and run the RTX 3090, wont be mining for a month or so (for the most part). https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/74682904? My memory is also a dog, though I did originally purchase it with the express desire to run 3200Mhz on a new 2700x so cant always expect a lucky champion to work outside its spec. Have any of you guys ever worked with fans where the blades operate in opposite directions to generate more static pressure? I think LTT mentioned it when unboxing the SuperMicro stuff for building a PB of RAM, been a bit curious about it since then.
  2. Auto-following where you post I believe is a setting you (currently) opt-in into. There are additional settings for notification behavior. It is odd that all your settings were cleared, be sure to let us know if that happens again!
  3. I would look at your notification settings, following threads also is an opt-in setting as well.
  4. I am using the MSI GTX 1080 version, no supplementary power required but requires extensive heatsink modification since the GPU die is located in a nonstandard layout.
  5. While they may hope it becomes standard, until it is, its not. Dell + Intel = same mentality + "other manufacturers" = those who are likely to be strung along for the ride. I dont personally care either way to be honest but its irritating that Dell wants it both ways. Its not proprietary and also no one else makes it* (*yet, pending potential approval)and hasnt been standardized* (yet, pending potential approval). Dell sadly, has amongst the worst track records for supporting their own designs especially on top dollar items. I hope for the sake of the consumers I am proven incorrect.
  6. Looks like I need to more research overall, I'm not at all comfortable with the bios settings as I had been during first Gen i7 with my golden xeon w3520. For now I am at 5.1Ghz but during load ts reports 1.24-8v when I set 1.35v and then bumps back up after load is lifted. This is at L6, so turns out skipping on homework only gets you so far :P while I appreciate the guidance provided thus far, do you fella's have a good resource for reading up on all the functions in the z490 boards? I was able to bump my ram up from 3200mhz to 3333mhz with no voltage adjustment, 3400 might be possible with voltage. Now before @Mr. Fox perks a brow I put my 32GB in place of the 16gb that originally came with the bundle. No testing yet for the 5700xt
  7. Yeah its all so very foreign to me, haven't touched desktop overclocking in any real sense since maybe 2nd Gen Intel. My amd chip basically let me drop in 4.2ghz and never needed to look much deeper, since that was the cieling for zen+ anyways. Trying the static approach now using ts as a quick and dirty bench before looking at other tests. Got the ram working correctly too, had them in bay 0/2 instead of 1/3. Looking at some guides for the board and hopefully figure out the details. Gonna shoot for a 1.385 and see if it plays nice. Pretty happy the D15S is letting it flex, 250w and it's handling it well
  8. This is Fox's old bundle, so far small tests of 5.1Ghz @ 1.32v (according to Throttlestop) @ 195w and 5.2Ghz pulled 255w but I think that was auto settings. It does 5.2Ghz at 1.38v pulling 211-215w. Tried lower but crashed the system lol Early days
  9. Yep! It has some shortcomings but for what I wanted it suits the bill quite nicely. I suppose I could bring Temps down with liquid metal, still have some left over. Next I need to alter something in the bios so that it retains the xmp profile and executes it. Right now it's defaulting to 2133, likely your old mem oc still in place.
  10. D15 w/ 2150rpm gentle typhoons holds 5.2Ghz @ mostly low 80's @ 255 watts with cheapo nt-h1 paste Pretty happy with the setup so far @Mr. Fox Ill do some tests via remote tomorrow while at work. As it stands it's lovely to be able to let a system flex a bit. Power saver let's plex do its a thing @ 5 watts
  11. First boot. Decided to grab my Taichi 5700xt and strap 3x 45mmx92mm fans. I think they do 6k rpm's. Went the AMD route for the perceived hope of an ease of use for Linux but also I cant find my x570 stock motherboard mounts so that system is down for now which means AMD will be migrated first.
  12. PSU ordered! Hopefully be here tomorrow
  13. Light net search seems to be an issue born from Win10 era systems since all the posts regarding it are 2016+ Intel(R) Serial IO GPIO Host Controller - INTC1056 Some recommend going to "Treexy", but I have never heard of that site so I wouldnt desire to go there as a download source. However, may prove useful as a last resort. https://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion/database/system/intel/serial-io-gpio-host-controller-intc1056/?o=id-/acpi/
  14. Then I will probably order this unit. I liked the open bench you mentioned before, purchased it and everything is already set on it. I think I have a 512GB NVME some where around here I might swap into it though. Its going to be one of those rare scenarios where I am anticipating a build, but also forcing a lesson on top, making Linux the new daily driver. Carrot and stick
  15. Ah gotcha, in retrospect the question is a bit silly. I looked at my current PSU, only 1 CPU power connector. As someone who has had cables burn out via mining, I like the idea of spreading the burden upon more connections even if I cant break any records with my NH-D15. So it looks like a purchase will be required. Currently looking at this unit below https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-120-GP-0850-X1/dp/B0797D6G5R/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1HX8I8RSUCKCM&keywords=SuperNOVA+1000+G%2B&qid=1650609248&sprefix=supernova+1000+g%2B%2Caps%2C214&sr=8-5 The GPU's will likely be powered by one of my HP 1200w (900w) power supplies so my main concern is delivering what the CPU needs, everything else is secondary
  16. @Mr. Fox I noticed the bundle you sold me has the extra 4 pin CPU power, what PSU did you typically use with it? Or is that simply made from an adapter solution?
  17. https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/74309332? My best run tonight after modding additional cooling potential to the P750FM. It seems my scenario is not going to break any records. 😛 What do you guys think? Decent performer?
  18. Corsair reps insulted me in a product suggestion thread where I recommended that if they follow the trend, 360mm CLC's would likely be an attractive product to the people that wanted water cooling but cant be bothered to make a loop. So I dont participate in their products any longer. I wanted to keep the price around 150 but for 1000w may have to extend that. My first concern is primarily the CPU at this time but its true that buying a larger PSU would make it an easier decision long term.
