  1. In an effort to twist the knife, they didnt disclose that it was Prema's work, just that it was a custom BIOS.
  2. Well, for now I believe I will attempt to re-purpose my 550w for just the CPU/Motherboard until the appropriate deal comes along. I've been putting off using that bundle for a while now, and its best not to make purchases while in am impatient frame of mind lol Especially if pricing is supposedly lowering over time then it would be best to wait.
  3. So worst case scenario I may just need to move some power to the HP 1200w server power supply if I were to pick up the SuperNOVA 750 G+? Nevermind, seems Amazon pulled the rug out again on me. Probably going to cancel my sub, its irritating to see something advertised as overnight to switch to 2+ days while in checkout.
  4. Im not sure if this link will work but its the current filters I am looking at. https://www.amazon.com/s?k=psu+850w&rh=p_101%3A19346685011%2Cp_36%3A-15000&dc&qid=1650059365&rnid=386442011&sprefix=PSU+%2Caps%2C170&ref=sr_nr_p_36_4 I dont need a huge power supply, but something that is adequate for a 10850K (OC) and 3090/6900xt. I have had good experiences with the Supernova lineup in the past, are they still up to par? https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-120-GP-0750-X1/dp/B0797HL9Z4/ref=sr_1_8?dd=71HHRGS1-1WS_x-OSvR5otNGzeC2M1AGI-JCm90QnS4%2C&ddc_refnmnt=free&keywords=psu+850w&qid=1650059444&refinements=p_101%3A19346685011%2Cp_36%3A-15000&rnid=386442011&sprefix=PSU+%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-8
  5. Good afternoon, ladies and gents! Due to the temperature rise in Texas and also a new type of power plan for our home its become more justified to turn off the mining equipment in a venture to consolidate everything into one system as well as take a headfirst dive into Linux, amongst other things. I have 4 1200w HP server PSU's that I use for mining. My old main system which was converted into mining last year uses an EVGA 550w which was great for my 2700x and 5700xt. I plan to keep using them to power my GPU's save for the primary. The great missing link here is a proper PSU for the updated rig, once again, thanks to @Mr. Fox providing an (lets say) innocent suggestion by providing this forums potentially highest value with his bundle that he sold to me not too long ago, found here. For the time being I plan to use my NH-D15 so while I may not be able to hit top potential clocks, I still plan to take full advantage of the K chip. Here is the rub. Consolidation with minimal investment. This isnt to mean "Cheap", and also fast delivery or local pickup in the 76001 area code. I believe there is a bestbuy somewhat nearby but more importantly there is a MicroCenter. Amazon also if I can snag it over night or Sunday. What I need for now is a power supply for the bundle above with the addition of a 3090 or 6900xt in terms of power requirement. The only condition is I refuse to purchase anything from Corsair. Thanks in advance everyone, I realize its a lot of context coupled with time sensitivity. @electrosoft@Rage Set@Custom90gt @Papusan
  6. They stole Prema's BIOS even after their business relationship (if there was one, Im fuzzy on the details) dissolved and actively sold it regardless.
  7. Just wanted to ask. I would like to automate a number of keystrokes but I would need to be independent of OS. I would like to be able to program them for different projects and purposes. One such use case would be making a series of alterations in UEFI sBIOS's
  8. Right right. I hope we see more development on that front. That being said AMD will need to put forward some real effort to promote and support adoption of their products. Helios 500 still never got agesa updates (iirc) or ability to upgrade cpu. I would even be highly interested in a 14" laptop and no gpu if that meant proper cooling (retaining 3 pipes and 2 fans) if the trade off is egpu for gaming. I long lamented that the AW13 R3 would've been amazing if it had no GPU and a 7820hk with the same cooling. The problem I tend to see (and I haven't had my ear to the ground for this) is price. They make the consumer pay for the capability of egpu which then makes the scenario unfeasible for most. Maybe this might change with usb4 but as everyone (including us) has seen USB standards seem to go out the window. It seems like we are regressing to the olden times where everything was proprietary. This time worse since it's proprietary functions within a standardized connection.
  9. I still hold that a DTR makes the most sense for the 5800X3D since it likely lacks @Prema love and also no support from Throttlestop. Shame the one platform we have for that only comes with a BGA 2070.
  10. Not sure why people pick teams, go with what works for you for the best price available.
  11. Interesting, I have a M6800 sitting in the garage that I have been slowly cleaning up. Might put the 4980hq back in it.
  12. Thanks for sharing, I'll add it to the topics I wish to cover in the next meetup hopefully sometime this weekend.
  13. I haven't played those titles, is it safe to say they are adequately multi-threaded? In the past chips like these tended to mostly shine when properly loaded. I liked that aspect but mostly due to when and what I was thinking of it. The frame times looked much cleaner as well, with Intel still pulling ahead unless I misunderstood what I was looking at.
  14. Seems like a nice send off for AM4, due to no OC the hype I did have for it is gone. That all being said I probably would pick this up for my AM4 ITX box but only off the second hand market sometime in the not yet defined future when its much cheaper. The gamers that dont want to think about tuning will probably look at this if appropriately priced.
  15. Very true, I really only see this making sense in a mobile DTR setting or perhaps an SFF system where you prefer greater GPU cooling bias or have a liking to a particular attraction to an SFF case that doesnt permit larger heatsinks. I hope it does well, competition tends to be a good thing all around.
  16. If past history with L4 cache can be used as a reference, then synthetics wouldnt benefit much but gaming would. Though I cant say if that should be used as a reference, my ear isnt that close to the ground these days.
  17. Finally stopped being lazy and cleaned up my P750FM today. Were back to 4.5Ghz on the 9700F and 1900 core on the 1080. I still want to get the full 200w though so Frankenstein's monster will be taking on another layer of aluminum to consistently hit that 2Ghz cap. I want to spend a bit more time planning the desktop so it was time to put some love into the monster. 4th Gen (P750ZM) chassis with a 6th gen (P750DM-G) motherboard with a 9th gen i7 9700F and a 1080 🙂 Its been a fun modding trip with @DaMafiaGamer
  18. Didnt realize my last entry was caching where I was when I shared it. First track hits really well, probably my favorite of the year thus far.
  19. @Mr. Fox Doesnt RGB add heat ? Or am I thinking of cold cathode?
  20. Most of the interest on that front would likely be relegated in large part to Mobile games There is a large market for that in the poorer areas of the world (at least per capita). Microsoft only needed to support their own platform as both Android and iOS are a serious pain to work with as platforms, they just didnt want to cut better deals with the market nor wanted to make additional attempts at more mobile phones. They are a huge sleeping giant that cant be bothered to roll over to get what they want these days. Especially if they had plans to support Android from within on their timelines.
  21. Just out of curiosity do you have a couple of pictures of it naked? More so need some creative starting point for my project. Also I think i should have been more specific in my inquiry. I have a table top that is currently 2 tiered. The table top obviously and its second surface is about 3 inches from the ground. I plan to use the space between to load up the 5+ GPU's for mining which is about 2 feet in height, and wide enough for my 5820x to lay flat. I do have about 10 drives I plan to connect via SATA but what I was thinking was creating a separate semi enclosed space on the top surface maybe with ABS sheet plastic. I also intend to keep the DPS-1200FB's separate as well so as to prevent them from being exposed from unnecessary heat. It will be akin to how those podium type systems from yore I am curious to if there are are sites out there for buying parts that facilitate these kinds of endeavors. Things like motherboard stand offs, PCIE brackets? As for the Linux oriented HWBOT, we can worry about the backend portion later, for now I would focus on the things that can be handled like proof submissions, system requirements and things of that nature
  22. True enough, its likely that we would only see this chip in the AMD DTR from Clevo and only because someone sought it out to replace what they have on hand. That is of course assuming the X3D chip actually delivers in a meaningful way over other 5xxx chips
  23. Hey guys, What sites do you typically use for sourcing parts needed for open air benching? I have little time these days but wanted to dabble a bit more in the benching scene with some of the older (notably cheaper) stuff once I can get this 10th gen setup running. Its probably going to be a dual-boot scenario since @Mr. Fox provided Win10. Since there is some disillusion with Windows, OEM's, ODM's, why dont we build a Linux oriented HWBOT? Its been on my mind for some time but I alone could never build it responsibly especially when I have other responsibilities here and projects to grow. If you guys want to build something and want a private space, the forum is at your disposal.
  24. Its always fun to think of the odd angle on things but as Hollywood's full of narcissism and committing such actions nearly landed him in the same category as Weinstein and Cosby Im inclined to think otherwise. The only good thing to come of this whole thing was Gmod version of the event 🙂
  25. Yeah Alder Lake is not friendly to laptops it seems. Currently I am interested in how the 5800X3D or something skin to it would run in laptops since there is no overclocking on it, would make more sense to see it in a platform that would make it more palatable to agree with the first non overclockable product from AMD in forever.
