  1. Not sure why people pick teams, go with what works for you for the best price available.
  2. Interesting, I have a M6800 sitting in the garage that I have been slowly cleaning up. Might put the 4980hq back in it.
  3. Thanks for sharing, I'll add it to the topics I wish to cover in the next meetup hopefully sometime this weekend.
  4. I haven't played those titles, is it safe to say they are adequately multi-threaded? In the past chips like these tended to mostly shine when properly loaded. I liked that aspect but mostly due to when and what I was thinking of it. The frame times looked much cleaner as well, with Intel still pulling ahead unless I misunderstood what I was looking at.
  5. Seems like a nice send off for AM4, due to no OC the hype I did have for it is gone. That all being said I probably would pick this up for my AM4 ITX box but only off the second hand market sometime in the not yet defined future when its much cheaper. The gamers that dont want to think about tuning will probably look at this if appropriately priced.
  6. Very true, I really only see this making sense in a mobile DTR setting or perhaps an SFF system where you prefer greater GPU cooling bias or have a liking to a particular attraction to an SFF case that doesnt permit larger heatsinks. I hope it does well, competition tends to be a good thing all around.
  7. If past history with L4 cache can be used as a reference, then synthetics wouldnt benefit much but gaming would. Though I cant say if that should be used as a reference, my ear isnt that close to the ground these days.
  8. Finally stopped being lazy and cleaned up my P750FM today. Were back to 4.5Ghz on the 9700F and 1900 core on the 1080. I still want to get the full 200w though so Frankenstein's monster will be taking on another layer of aluminum to consistently hit that 2Ghz cap. I want to spend a bit more time planning the desktop so it was time to put some love into the monster. 4th Gen (P750ZM) chassis with a 6th gen (P750DM-G) motherboard with a 9th gen i7 9700F and a 1080 🙂 Its been a fun modding trip with @DaMafiaGamer
  9. Didnt realize my last entry was caching where I was when I shared it. First track hits really well, probably my favorite of the year thus far.
  10. @Mr. Fox Doesnt RGB add heat ? Or am I thinking of cold cathode?
  11. Most of the interest on that front would likely be relegated in large part to Mobile games There is a large market for that in the poorer areas of the world (at least per capita). Microsoft only needed to support their own platform as both Android and iOS are a serious pain to work with as platforms, they just didnt want to cut better deals with the market nor wanted to make additional attempts at more mobile phones. They are a huge sleeping giant that cant be bothered to roll over to get what they want these days. Especially if they had plans to support Android from within on their timelines.
  12. Just out of curiosity do you have a couple of pictures of it naked? More so need some creative starting point for my project. Also I think i should have been more specific in my inquiry. I have a table top that is currently 2 tiered. The table top obviously and its second surface is about 3 inches from the ground. I plan to use the space between to load up the 5+ GPU's for mining which is about 2 feet in height, and wide enough for my 5820x to lay flat. I do have about 10 drives I plan to connect via SATA but what I was thinking was creating a separate semi enclosed space on the top surface maybe with ABS sheet plastic. I also intend to keep the DPS-1200FB's separate as well so as to prevent them from being exposed from unnecessary heat. It will be akin to how those podium type systems from yore I am curious to if there are are sites out there for buying parts that facilitate these kinds of endeavors. Things like motherboard stand offs, PCIE brackets? As for the Linux oriented HWBOT, we can worry about the backend portion later, for now I would focus on the things that can be handled like proof submissions, system requirements and things of that nature
  13. True enough, its likely that we would only see this chip in the AMD DTR from Clevo and only because someone sought it out to replace what they have on hand. That is of course assuming the X3D chip actually delivers in a meaningful way over other 5xxx chips
  14. Hey guys, What sites do you typically use for sourcing parts needed for open air benching? I have little time these days but wanted to dabble a bit more in the benching scene with some of the older (notably cheaper) stuff once I can get this 10th gen setup running. Its probably going to be a dual-boot scenario since @Mr. Fox provided Win10. Since there is some disillusion with Windows, OEM's, ODM's, why dont we build a Linux oriented HWBOT? Its been on my mind for some time but I alone could never build it responsibly especially when I have other responsibilities here and projects to grow. If you guys want to build something and want a private space, the forum is at your disposal.
  15. Its always fun to think of the odd angle on things but as Hollywood's full of narcissism and committing such actions nearly landed him in the same category as Weinstein and Cosby Im inclined to think otherwise. The only good thing to come of this whole thing was Gmod version of the event 🙂
  16. Yeah Alder Lake is not friendly to laptops it seems. Currently I am interested in how the 5800X3D or something skin to it would run in laptops since there is no overclocking on it, would make more sense to see it in a platform that would make it more palatable to agree with the first non overclockable product from AMD in forever.
  17. Youtube finally gave up and fed me something new
  18. All depends on circumstances, pricing and timing at the time of serious consideration of a purchase. Basically, difficult to say right now what conditions there will be in the future that need to be considered before pulling the trigger.
  19. I wouldnt say that I am smart more so I always allow for hedging my statements because I dont know everything. Some context may be lost but I did recall @hfm using an eGPU scenario and based on his posts I never really took him for someone that settles for anything less than desired, I myself have been curious about eGPU's for some time as well although havent pursued it personally.
  20. Quite right, sorry room mates cat starting attacking everyone last night. Link provided, about 3 hours left
  21. Its a bit late as I just happened to take a look see. Anyways, anyone interested in IT certifications may enjoy this deal Chris https://www.humblebundle.com/books/get-certified-wiley-books?hmb_source=humble_home&hmb_medium=product_tile&hmb_campaign=mosaic_section_3_layout_index_2_layout_type_threes_tile_index_1_c_getcertifiedwiley_bookbundle
  22. It has to do with whether or not the TB signal has to go through any mediums before communicating with the CPU and vice-versa. Those small interruptions add up and take space to be sent. As I have read it before (but unaware of accuracy) TB4 is merely what TB3 should've been, as the speeds did not increase generation over generation.
  23. no chance at it being a nefarious actor in that company?
