  1. It might not but .... You can by a thin copper on online that replaced it . Should be sufficient as your only getting gen 3 speeds so it won't stress the controller much .
  2. it took a lot of tweaking and im still not done i now have the ram at 3200 as i got single rank dimms and now its nice .
  3. Now I will add is it could be your cpus Imc that is having issues with the faster ram . I can say the 4700mq throws fits with anything above 1866 but the 4930 4940 should be able to take up to even 2400 with little issue unless the CPU was cooked to death and degraded
  4. My Alienware 18 let's me mess with it's bios fine . I usually go in and enable the overrides for long duration power and short and then set to 1024 on both which pretty much is unlimited lol my 4930mx is at 4.2ghz 1 240 volts . Ahd yes the aw18 can use up to 2133 ddr3l ram . 1866 works just fine to . I've ran both in mine but sadly one of my hyper x sticks farted out so now I'm at 1600 cl7 . I am going to go back to 2133 MHz as there is a noticable difference. Another thing I'd want to try is the 4980hq the chip with iris igpu and 128mb l4

  7. I am going to do the tm1 heatsink mod to aid in cooling as this chip is spicy . At full 4.8 ghz with 5.3 single core turbo .
  8. The ones without ihs are usually the weaker ones . The ones that have the caps on the bottom tend to have better memory controllers . They are also picky in ram . Dual rank dimms are hit and miss . Mine is running. 40gb at 3000 MHz ram . Once I went to single rank dimms . ( Yes you lose like 3 percent performance going from dual rank to single rank dimms but ) You won't notice it . Furthermore as long as you are in dual channel you are fine . Also to others, having all 4 rams slots filled will make it harder to get faster speeds . These chips usually work with 2 ram slots . So there is that . If I take out two sticks are drop to 16gb I can hit 3200 but 16gb isn't enough for gaming these days really .
  9. Weird I've seen people in other threads state the 3060m supports lvds . As well as some 6600xts and 6850xts . The 6850 can be pulled from the weird external GPU for the rog ally . But if that's incorrect then shucks . One thing I'd find interesting would be to use one of the pin soldered 4980hqs . Sure you'd be limited to 2 slots for ram * I think * but the iris graphics would be miles ahead of the hd 4600 plus the 128mb cache is great . There are benchmarks online showing the performance . At any rate I'm going to order a 3060m or 6600xt soon . Probably 3060 do to vram

  12. I know this is old but most aw 18 lcds can oc to 95 to 100 Hz so I'm betting the cable is fine Btw I know this post is pretty old but j figured I'd chime in since I have an Alienware 18 r1 viking
  13. The guy I got the clevo from bought it from eBay . The seller had a bunch of these cards . Used for AI. In weird mother boards with built in MXM slots . Some even had 4 slots . They then offloaded all the gpus and sold them on eBay as 3080s . Some of the cards are 3080ti mobile versions . So they perform on par with a full 3080 . The 200 watt power draw is tough on most laptops but these clevos do ok as long as you have the vapor chamber .they are designed to be install into rack most systems . The card has 16gb vram . And just works . There is a clevo bios on it to funny enough so hmmmm .
  14. Mine is happy with 2933 . 4.8 ghz all core and 2 core 5 ghz .
  15. The port can handle up to 200 . My 3080 ti easily hits 190 watt . Held back a bit do to CPU bottleneck ( QTJ1 ) but in some games I've seen it spike to 200 . It's a custom mining card
  16. The 4080 MXM that excuses in the wild is a 150 watt part . That I've seen . I have a 200 watt 3080 ti 16gb and apparently it's faster according to developer . Maybe I'm wrong . Further more I think our main limitations is using regular MXM GPUs in these . I've tried with a Quadro p4000 that has known edp support and I was met with angry beeps lol
  17. Both . Even at 2666 it feels better and loading programs is just snappier
  18. Sorry to necro but looks like only need to chop of the heatsink extension on the vapor chamber? To get the tm1 heatsink to fit ? I have a qtj1 and the chip gets spicy at 4.8
  19. One thing . The cache on these is set at 21x so 2.1ghz . I bumped mine to 4.0 made a noticeable improvement
  20. Mine hits 2666 with 3 ram sticks in . Don't ask why lol but I'm betting with the right ram if get 2933 and sadly that's one of the only ways I've found to reset cmos aside from removing a ram stick which then makes the system retrain and boot
  21. My plan is to de lid the CPU . Put better compound on it and 5ghz all core . Regardless the QTJ1 is still a nice CPU
  22. Still testing but getting better scores . At 5 ghz the single core is a bit above 600 but puts out to much heat lol .
  23. Daanke i9 9900ks 128gb bios is the way to go . It has most of the features anyway .
  24. I got myself a QTJ1 mutant CPU . Really nice processor . Mine seems very happy to run at 4.8 ghz all core with a 5 ghz single core oc . P870dm3 flashed with daanke 9900ks 128gb me disabled . Only thing is these chip run got so at full load 100 percent in benchmarks mine drops to 4 6 sometimes but still in games it sits at 4.8
