  1. Hi. You'll reach 5.0 with an ok chips. There is an Amp cap shutdown around 166w so there isn't much more you can do with the older Clevo model. Run it stock and call it a day. An 8700K is more than enough. If you can get an binned one with low leakage(cooler running chips), the better. An P870TM model would be a better choice for an 9900K.
  2. The diseased thin and sllim laptop trend strikes again. It comes with a huge drawback. Design over functionality. Why go for worlds thinnest design over functionality for an gaming laptop? Make it so damn thin that you can't offer better performing graphics cards and on top have to opt for the most castrated version of cards match the thread topic as hand in glove. "The new Alienware x14" offers the latest technology and stable gaming performance, but the slim chassis requires some compromises. A thicker chassis would have probably been better for many most customers. Alienware x14 Review - The world's thinnest gaming notebook requires compromises The marketing phrase “world’s thinnest gaming notebook” sounds good, but we are pretty sure a slightly thicker chassis would have resulted in a better product.
  3. @Hertzian56 Thanks. Some has to bring the good news, LOOL March 8, 2022—KB5011503 (OS Build 17763.2686)2019 LTSC Windows 10 servicing stack update - 17763.2510 Prerequisite: You must install the August 10, 2021 SSU (KB5005112) before installing the LCU. 4. German Cyber Guard BSI warns now against the use of Kaspersky antivirus products Posted on 2022-03-15 by guenni Can antivirus products from the Russian based company Kaspersky be used in companies and government agencies without risk? After Russia's invasion of Ukraine, this question has becomehot. After hesitating for some time, the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has now issued a recommendation. In short, the BSI recommends replacing applications from the Kaspersky anti-virus software portfolio with alternative products. And if you enjoy Malware on your computers then visit M$ Store. There is no need to spend time on unsafe webpages. Microsoft is very keen offer you new features/highlights, LOOL Electron Bot: Malware in Microsoft Store infects over 5,000 machines Posted on 2022-03-15 by guenni [German]Security vendor Check Point has come across a new type of malware that enables a complete takeover of systems through a backdoor. In addition, the malware can take control of social media accounts from Facebook, Google and Sound Cloud. The malware was spread via games offered for download in the official Microsoft Store. And the tragic thing is that virus scanners like Microsoft Defender did not detect this malware.
  5. Not so sure they add all ideas from Win 10. A lot is changed with Win 11 and to the worse 🙂 And this is the main reason Microsoft didn't dare offer their newest tech only for Win 11. They know all too many will stay on the better OS for a long time🤪 What Is DirectStorage on Windows 11, Windows 10, and Xbox? DirectStorage is a feature of DirectX 12 found in the Xbox Series consoles that accelerates the performance of SSDs using the massive parallel processing power of today’s GPUs. DirectStorage could change this for the good, so we won't have to stare at loading screens frequently, because games will switch between areas faster, render more complex worlds with NPCs, better animations, and richer visuals. The good news is that it is not exclusive to Windows 11, the API is compatible with Windows 10 too. Microsoft says that DirectStorage will run better on Windows 11 due to storage stack optimizations in the new operating system, but that could be marketing jabber. Here's an official video that explains more about DirectStorage on Windows. Image courtesy: Microsoft.
  6. The older fans push a lot air. Helped me a lot on the old 3070K setup. It would be bad if they go for less noise over performance. And not so sure I like the rounded fan design. Yep, I'm quite a traditional guy, LOOL but we'll see when the reviews is out 🙂 Evga should have used an thicker rad and also offered an 420 mm AIO. https://hwbot.org/submission/4951931_papusan_cinebench___r20_core_i9_12900k_12016_cb https://hwbot.org/submission/4951935_papusan_cinebench___r23_multi_core_with_benchmate_core_i9_12900k_31603_cb?recalculate=true
  7. Ready to get more ads on you computer? Microsoft's software engineeers ain't finished make Win 11 better, LOOL Microsoft is back with ads in File Explorer on Windows 11 Many Windows 10 users may remember ads in File Explorer. Microsoft used to show them at some point of time, but eventually abandoned this idea. It looks like the Redmond software giant is again tinkering with this feature in the upcoming version of Windows 11, version 22H2. The company is exploring all possible ways to increase its revenue from Windows. For instance, the recently added Clipchamp app, while aimed to be the app like Windows Movie Maker, is completely useless unless you pay for extra features.
  8. Happy you was pleased. And thanks🙂 Microsoft will add more useless Win 11 bloat on coming Win 10 feature update. @Mr. Fox @Ashtrix Microsoft Releases Windows 11 Feature for Windows 10 with KB5011543 for Insiders wccftech.com The taskbar search box and search home will periodically update with content, including fun illustrations, which help you discover more, be connected, and stay productive. Search highlights will present notable and interesting moments of what’s special about each day—like holidays, anniversaries, and other educational moments in time both globally and in your region. I'm sure they will add in more Win 11 features in the future...
  9. Maybe we will get an benchmate validation software on top of benchmate to validate the scores 🙂 I just got a pack of Window/door gasket for the chassis. I'm still baffled Corsair couldn't do a better job on a chassis that cost +600$. And I bought a Metal strip covered in black plastic to make an arm for fans intended cooling the memory/vrms.Will work same as the flexible arm for mounting fans for bench tables. Not as pretty but I think a proper mounting will make it pretty enough in the chassis 🙂 Edit. Yep, the gasket works well. It cost 10$ here home for the package (perverse for 6 m wimpy thin P shaped gasket). I'm sure it wouldn't cost Corsair more than 1$ in parts to fix their broken/bad design decisions. And probably less/same for mounting it on the chassis.
  10. The bench finished, but you can see that the run is invalid from the rendered pict
  11. Oh, I didn't see that. The run is invalid. But show its potential with better cooling.
  12. A nice improvement. 20C lower temps is great. I expect even with an PCIE 4.0 drive you won't have such problems anymore now 🙂 Probably more in the tank with an custom cooling. Luumi said above 80C and Alder lake become flaky. https://hwbot.org/submission/4951309_papusan_cinebench___r23_multi_core_with_benchmate_core_i9_12900k_31949_cb?recalculate=true
  13. Nice scores bro Fox. Regarding the PCH temps. You said thei went down 6°C with swapping the drive but what reduction did you get with the heatsink? And what PCH temp do you have in idle and when running ssd benchmarks? ATTO Disk Benchmark
  14. Yep. And there isn't many reasons to go from another Chromium browser. And I won't touch Windows newer browser. Microsoft have the bad habit add in too much junk/bloat. Here's a few.... Is Microsoft adding too many controversial features to its Edge browser? Microsoft is adding more bloat to Edge with a Games button by Ashwin on Dec 28, 2021 in Microsoft Edge - 27 Microsoft is adding a new feature to Edge, but you're probably not going to like it. The Chromium-based browser now has a games button, because why not? Microsoft's Buy Now, Pay Later integration in Edge is highly controversial by Martin Brinkmann on Nov 30, 2021 in Microsoft Edge - 35 Microsoft announced a new addition to the company's Microsoft Edge web browser in mid-November. Available only in Insider Builds of Edge at the time, the feature was rolled out in Edge 96
  15. Be happy you don't have an 1080P screen. A hell lot worse. Almost impossible see much of the benchmark rendered screen. And on top... They have created an very ugly Asus UI for Asus boards to make it fullfilled. Not sure why but probaly a paid work. Bigger is better... Isn't it?😀 What did you expect?😀 The bot server is handled by an wimpy 2 core's cpu. The trend continue bro Fox. Always downwards. Same for Intel and Amd. Expect an ugly patch coming from Intel in the near future. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-cpus-see-less-than-10-performance-drop-from-revised-spectre-v2-mitigations And I expect a new one then afterwards to fix another or new (Not published) security vulnerability. A never ending story due sloopy Cpu design.
  16. Please post pict also for TPL. And use higher resolution pict. Too small for my old eyes. Try adaptive voltage. Go from default and add offset if needed when you push clocks. Start with core ratio. You can work with cashe afterwards once you get some good results from the cores. Core is always king. High Cashe ratio will give a performance boost if you run fast/faster ram sticks. Not so much with slow ram. You have voltage high enough for ++4.8GHz 🙂
  17. I see we lack a thread for Security news in the foirum. Hence I put up this new thread "All about security and anti-virus software". TP-Link Said to be Sharing Customers Browsing Data with Third Party Techpowerup.com | March 12, 2022 These days, routers are quite complex devices that are doing much more than just routing data and are often the main security device on a home network. As such, we've seen a surge in third party services such as Asus' AIProtection that runs software from TrendMicro and Netgear Armor in cooperation with Bitdefender. Chinese TP-Link is likewise offering similar services, some in partnership with TrendMicro and some with Avira. It now appears that TP-Link's HomeCare service—that the company is offering in partnership with Avira—is sending data to Avira even when disabled in the UI, based on a thread over at Reddit. The standard Avira features are meant to offer protection against malicious content, network intrusions and even against infected devices on the network that are said to be quarantined from other devices on the network. It also incorporates some basic parental control features, such as automatic content filtering and time controls. However, in this case, the issue isn't the functionality itself, but the fact that there apparently is no way to turn off the HomeCare feature, since even when seemingly disabled in the UI of the affected routers, it sends data to Avira. It seems to be a fairly large amount of data being sent as well, with the initial poster claiming over 80,000 requests in a 24 hour period. According to a review of a TP-Link product over on XDA-Developers from May last year, TP-Link said that they were working on a firmware update that would allow the Avira service to be turned off permanently.
  18. Untick C1E and tick the Speed Shift box and change the value to 0. As well untick the box with more Data for normal use. What Cashe ratio do you put? And what clock speed do you see right after boot up without TS enabled? And yep, 4.5GHz should be enough for +1000 in Cinebench R15 🙂 Btw. The laptop jockey's will be heavily screwed when we will see 4000 series graphics pop up. It will be darn disgusting to see an 4080 at 85W TDP in tomorrows Apple designed laptops: Here's bro @Mr. Fox reaction when he see mobile 4080 graphics in laptops erly spring 2023 The weakest 4080 mobile graphics will get an TDP near 5.3 times lower than the similar desktop cards. But the laptop gamers will be happy regardless level of crippled mobile graphics cards vs. desktop cards. Design over functionality will always be the prefered choice. And Nvidia and the OEM will deliver in loads. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090-class GPU with 600W TGP has reportedly been confirmed https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4090-class-gpu-with-600w-tgp-has-reportedly-been-confirmed --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The data harvest from the users systems seems to be out of control... For the interested. I put up an new forum thread All about "security and anti-virus software". Enjoy.
  19. Maybe Intel also could help AMD fix their never ending HW problems? 😀 Intel Finds Bug in AMD's Spectre Mitigation, AMD Issues Fix News of a fresh Spectre BHB vulnerability that only impacts Intel and Arm processors emerged this week, but Intel's research around these new attack vectors unearthed another issue: One of the patches that AMD has used to fix the Spectre vulnerabilities has been broken since 2018. Intel's security team, STORM, found the issue with AMD's mitigation. In response, AMD has issued a security bulletin and updated its guidance to recommend using an alternative method to mitigate the Spectre vulnerabilities, thus repairing the issue anew.
  20. The beauty lies in the details. Or rather say that the performance slide down the toilet. When shall Intel stop take short ways to increase the performance then take it back it few months later? How much time do you think they spend on new security patches/firmware updates? Intel CPUs Suffer Performance Hit From New Spectre-v2 Mitigations tomshardware.com According to Phoronix's Core i9-12900K (Alder Lake) results, networking and storage performance went down the toilet after enabling Retpolines. The publication recorded a 26.7% performance loss on the former and 14.5% on the latter. That's the hallmark of these mitigations: Any external I/O from the chip takes a hard hit. Workloads like web browsing or image manipulation in GIMP didn't show a huge impact. Even modern Intel CPUs are losing up to 36% performance with the new Spectre BHI patch A new CPU exploit based on the infamous Spectre v2 has been discovered. However, when the security patch is applied it can affect performance by up to 36%, that's according to a recent study... Have a nice weekend 🙂 https://hwbot.org/achievement/20909_
  21. We can add in AMD into this beauty as well. Intel, AMD, Arm warn of new speculative execution CPU bugs bleepingcomputer.com | Today Speculative execution trouble The speculative execution technique is designed to optimize CPU performance by running some tasks in advance (branch prediction) so the information is available when required. Straight-line-speculation In parallel news that coincide in disclosure, grsecurity has published the details and a PoC that can leak confidential data from AMD processors via a new straight-line-speculation (SLS) attack method. This new variant of SLS affects many AMD chips based on the Zen1 and Zen2 microarchitectures, including EPYC, Ryzen Threadripper, and Ryzen with integrated Radeon Graphics. AMD has published a list of the affected products and also a whitepaper that offers security advice for the medium-severity flaw tracked as CVE-2021-26341.
  22. Yep, and the cheapest one is probably better than the garbage I got with Corsair’s most expensive chassis. I’m sure you find some with RGB disaster. A lot people like bling bling in all shape and form nowadays.
  23. Yep. better with several small packages so people can pick only the one they want. No need for etc RGB garbage if you only want an simple fan control. It seems bloat cancerware for desktops is equal bad as it is for the new modern Jokebooks. One package (all included) has to fits all 😞 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bump. The name is correct. But any suggestions on better quality kit? Thanks. Is this the English name for this part below? PSU Cable Comb Kit? The one's that followed the Corsair package is hard and not very flexible. Probably the cheapest they could put with this Corsair 1000D chassis. Do you have a suggestion for something better than this cheapo garbage? I see we can get Corsair Cables_ Cable Comb Kit_ Type 4 (Generation 4)_ Black here home. Why couldn't Corsair offer this kit instead for the stiff cheapo garbage in their premium chassis package?
  24. Yep, Nice seeing some people finally start pointing out what I have said the last decade. Try the middle way. You shouldn't need to completely disable turbo boost. Test with different clock speed.
  25. With today’s modern and disgusting laptop cooling you may benefits from disabling Cpu turbo boost in some games to let the graphics get better boost clocks. The damn Unified heatsink design can’t cool both the Cpu and graphics adequately in full load for both. And it help even more with a weaker graphics card(or very disgusting cooling).
