  1. Yup. Hence I went with the bigger H7 Flow for my son. More space is better than lack of space. You never know what you'll put in later. The build for my son.
  2. I think it doesn't matter much with weaker GPUs. Buy the i9 if you know you'll get an 4090 within short time. 4080 is overpriced so that card shouldn't you touch for now. But as bro Fox said.... Maybe buy an i5 now and grab a cheap i9 once the 15th gen is out. Or see if the difference in price isn't that big between i5 or i9 when you start buying parts..
  3. I would avoid EVGA PSUs. Rather look if you can find an used or new Corsair HX1500i for cheap. Or the revised model with ATX 3.0 specs. The nice thing with Corsair.... They still haven't jumped on the 12VHPWR connector hype train for the PSU panel. And you get loads of 8-pins connectors. The new and more modern models barely fit in 5 of them. Some even come with only 3 or 4 of the 8-pins connectors. Avoiding EVGA come from many reasons. You don't know if they are here the next 3 years and they have shrinked on quality and cut down on warranty. Both, is big nopes.
  4. Hope Cablemod and their shilled mods can't ban me in the nvidia reddit forum. Me is all too honest🙂 Or can they bro @electrosoft? Yup. Some don't like that you are honest. Will see if CM will un-bann us honest people, HaHa And if you have followed CM reps claims about their "safe cables with the 12VHPWR connector" don't suffer from same melting... They are lying All Cpus now is bottleneck with 4090. Even at 4K. But this shouldn't stop you from building a new PC today or tomorrow. There will always come new HW and they all will suffer from the same problem.
  5. How big will the loss be if Cablemod now have to refund +100.000 angled adapters? Each adapter costs minimum $29.99 USD. And what with the shipping costs? You never got what you paid for. Will be fun see what pops up. I would claim all money back. Also for the shipping.
  6. The sad part. I wonder how many still have the v1.0 and continue use it. And how many stupids bought the v1.1 and will use it thinking "newer has to be better" @ryan🤐 until it melt down the cards. Could be as much as 100.000 adapters out there. Maybe Cablemod also this time can trick some people over on their "so called safe cables" with angled connectors to reduce the loss from this adapter failure. And how many have the angled adapeters for the lower tier cards as 4080/4070Ti and 4060 Ti thinking they are safe? They all will burn up in the end. It's only a question of time.
  7. @electrosoft Cablemod 1.1 adapter melted my 4090, had it secured all the way 100%, v1 had no issues Posted by u/CableMod PLANNED VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL OF CABLEMOD 12VHPWR ANGLED ADAPTERS, V1.0 and V1.1 Dear Hardware Community: It has come to our attention that certain CableMod 12VHPWR Angled Adapter V1.1s may be defective. We have since decided to discontinue sales of our angled adapters. We will be conducting a voluntary safety recall for all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊Angled Adapters V1.0 and all CableMod 12VHPWR 90 ̊ and 180 ̊ Angled Adapters V1.1 because of the potential risk that the male connector could become loose, overheat, and melt into the GPU. This recall will apply only to our angled adapters and will not affect our angled cables. Yup. I was spot on @Rage Set @electrosoft😁 But "voluntary safety recall" whats that? So people can have a ticking bomb for the Christmas/New Year holidays? PLANNED VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL OF CABLEMOD 12VHPWR ANGLED ADAPTERS, V1.0 and V1.1 cablemod.com And the stupid mods at Cablemod reddit forum banned me for only telling people the truth... Oh'well, can't expect more from that part.
  8. As the thread title say... "PC hardware you should avoid". Please post about your bad experience here. Thanks
  9. Not sure why you show oc'd 4080 mobile vs stock 4090. Oh'well. Here is the real numbers if you take account that Notebookcheck used an Ryzen Cpu for the desktop build. Far away from 60%. More like +100% difference in performance. https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-4080-Laptop-GPU-Benchmarks-and-Specs.675174.0.html Remember the 4080 die is under half of the cores vs 4090 desktop chips. You can't change the undelying physics in the HW bro ryan https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4080-mobile.c3947 https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4090.c3889 And if you look here. 4080 Mobile is in short an cut down 4070 Ti desktop chips and with capped TGP https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-4070-ti.c3950 With fake frames you can have fun with all sorts of older HW. Welcome the future... nvidia need help from it's enemy to boost FPS for their older GPU's. If you accepts a few hiccups/visual issues then why not? Nvidia won't help you if you haven't the latest and greatest so you'll have to look other places. FSR3 mods to double your FPS on Starfield and Witcher 3 Have created a new thread you all can post in if you experience bad products/bad value. PC hardware you should avoid. The do not buy list for computer parts. Any reason you don't test out some Klevv sticks? Because this brand is a subsidiary of SK Hynix. So they should be able to have access to a lot good binned IC's directly from it's mother company. Can't be much more expensive than G. Skill. Maybe more difficult to buy (limited availability) in U.S ?
  10. Where did you get those numbers from? If < 4090 desktop card only offered 60% more performance than a wimpy power castrated 4080 Mobile I would throw my 4090 graphics card down the toilet. Congrats bro ryan 🙂
  11. Yup. It was very important for AMD to be sure that Starfield crashed/was impossible to game with Intel graphics. They would never do that with Nvidia. Or would they?😎 Stupid tech you should avoid bro @ryan for your coming PC build. When will this sick trend turn around? More and more bling bling and continued price hike. This perversity won't stop. Only $3 lack and you'll see a black single fan for $50 USD (the white version is $52). That would mean +$1000 USD only for the fans that is visible in my pc box. Yup, that's perverse. Lian Li’s Brand New UNI Fans Come With An Integrated 1.6″ LCD & Lots of RGB Goodness perversity
  12. Yup. Fans are more than just fetish😁 A single fan can destroy your reputation.
  13. Nice.... Yup, the newer, the better. Always, HaHa In addition, the problem should not affect systems running Windows 10—only the most recent Windows 11 versions were hit. Microsoft confirms Wi-Fi issues in Windows 11 KB5032288
  14. Cancer!!!! Never ever touch that brand. See for yourself... Have you seen similar before? Probably, because proprietary MB is the normal in laptops. But in desktops? Nope. XPS 8960 Service Manual | Dell US This is how a MB should looks like if they followed the ATX form factor. But Dell and a few others walk their own way with proprietary design. And not only for the board... I fix it for you bro Fox. They are equal Cancer!!! Use of socket CPU, desktop memory sticks and desktop GPU doesn't justify what Dell did with the whole PC package. Proprietary MB, PSU, cooling, bling bling and the PC box is just disgusting. And I won't talk about the very limited and fully locked down bios. That has to be for another day.
  15. Probably +10 laptops, 3 desktops, 2 NAS and 20 graphics cards. All HW are spread around everywhere. So difficult to tell exactly how many I have in my position, HaHa
  16. Yet, you continue collect up new laptops. Hmmm. Hope the new one is the last one you spend more than $200 for. No new modern laptop is worth more. I hope everything works out well for you. Not only for the money, but also for your health. Swift recovery bro Ryan.
  17. New/newer has to be better. Always. Isn't it? @ryan @Mr. Fox++++ Security patch breaks Wi-Fi on Windows 11 PCs with Qualcomm 802.11r Wi-Fi module Just another Windows patch creating problems! A sad, familiar story for Windows users Issues caused by Windows updates are pretty well-documented, thanks to official Windows forums. Recently, Microsoft rolled out an update for another issue which renamed all printers to HP. Microsoft has not responded to the issue related to 802.11r yet, but it's fair to say the software giant will roll out a fix eventually. It only took nearly a month for it to issue a fix to the printer issue. You can live without Wi-Fi for that long, right? It took ONLY Microsoft more than a year to fix one of the most infuriating Windows 11 bugs
  18. Nice, so a slim chance to see 14900KS pop out over New Year if Intel have binned properly. Yup, there is headroom for 6.2GHz chips if Intel push out KS's looking like that one. You mean Canadian dollars? If so maybe save up to the $900 USD floor and I'm sure you'll find something. You can then sell one of the laptops and grab back some of the lost money you spent on the new Jokebook 🙂
  19. FSP preparing 2500W power supply with four PCIe 12V-2×6 GPU power cables FSP is at the forefront of providing power solutions for a diverse range of applications, whether it’s fueling a cryptofarms, a multi-user gaming rig, or an advanced AI compute platform. The upcoming Cannon Pro 2500W power supply, set to launch soon, is to feature 80 Plus Platinum certification, ATX 3.1 standard specs, and an upgraded PCIe Gen5 connector. The Cannon Pro stands out with three PCIe 6+2-pin and four PCIe 12V-2×6 connectors, allowing for the simultaneous use of up to four RTX 4090 cards, or even five with the remaining standard PCIe cables. I wonder how many AD102 dies Nvidia stole from the Global gamers to support China with new gamer server cards... NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090D reportedly launches on December 28th in China Not in 2024, but already this year, gamers in China governments corporations will again have access to RTX 4090 graphics, sort of. The new model called RTX 4090D is a special edition designed to circumvent the U.S. export restrictions on high-performance GPUs that meet the 4800 TOPS threshold. Hmmm. Will these cards also be pushed into AI servers? And can we be sure Nvidia didn't hided a open door for more perfomance as they did with the 'LHR' video cards (Little Hash Rate) to boost sales of gamer cards for mining? Do you trust Nvidia @Mr. Fox @electrosoft? Hmmm. What shall you with yet another Jokebook bro ryan? Are you an collector? I usually get my (old) laptops for my collection... I mean my Jokebooks for free. I don't want to pay for them. Paying above 200$ for a new one... No thanks. Even 100$ is all too much. But I don't say no thanks if they are for free... Free has to be todays word🙂 You can have a lot fun with older HW. Just start build an new cheap PC. Much more fun than expensive Jokebooks.... And you don't need to emptying your wallet.
  20. Intel Brings Huge Improvements To Xe Kernel GPU Driver For Linux 6.8, Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake Gain Additional Support @Mr. Fox Intel Has Ramped Up Development At Linux, Targeted at Improving Xe Graphics Drivers & Offering Support For Next-Gen Arrow Lake & Lunar Lake CPUs
  21. I really hope EU regulation will look on this. Google won’t come around a huge fine when EU are finished with them. They will rip them apart. Google has gone too far now.
  22. It's well known that the Gigabyte cards have inferior PCB design. And from what I have seen/told from repairmans... The Gpu PCB from Asus flex quite a bit (even more than the trashy weird shaped PCB from Gigabyte) and are prone to crack as well due this. Much of this can be avoided with proper support sticks when the card is mounted. Also proper caring when you mount the card/take it out. But I expect some of the crack cases come from inserting/removing of the cards. As well if you ship the card mounted in an pc box. An inferiour PCB design is the major culprit togeteher with user errors as already mentioned. And a good support stick won't always save the card from user errors. A solid PCB design can help reduce this problem. But as we know... Better PCB design cost more money. LOOL. A real crocs family there.
