Second article from Pcworld. Amazing they are able to see much of the same as we. Nvidia need to pump up production of own FE cards. I expect more AIB partners need to throw in the towel. Not the Evga way but because of their own stupidity and greed. Let nvidia flood the market with FE cards. I don’t care if some companies die in own bloodbath. They aren’t worthy be here. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2049912/new-msi-slim-rtx-graphics-cards-still-take-up-three-slots.html I can easily live with the LTSC versions. I don’t game much so others will probably be more affected than me. Sad anyway. -

Even the stupid Pcworld editors is able to see Microsoft’s madness. Spam ain’t much different than malware… This is also a part of the modern tech world. Tech is much more than just hardware. And if none is able to stop Microsoft this will only be worse forwards until Win 10 is EOL. https://www.pcworld.com/article/2049502/microsofts-incessant-windows-ads-are-getting-out-of-control.html Right now, my Windows 10 computer is free of pushy Windows 11 notifications—but I expect another round to pop up soon, since Windows Update is still reminding me I have a compatible PC. But let’s set the record straight. People who have installed Chrome vastly outnumber those who use Edge. By market share, Chrome is around 60 percent, while Edge is five percent. Five. And keep in mind a person has to go through the trouble of downloading Chrome and installing it. This choice is actively and consciously made. -

With the FE you get real 4090 cards with 600W vbios. Totally opposite of the coming cards from AIBs as etc MSI. MSI only offer 600W for their top of the line cards. Two models, the rest is castrated even if they are the thick or the new slim. How sad is this? Wish Nvidia could offer their FE cards all over the world and in proper quantities. This would push AIBs to rethink their stupidity. But yep, the new modern slim is niche. Hope they fail hard 🙂 -

They can also tune own card’s. I mean 4090 can go as low as 0.900v. Or even lower. Then you have the same different tools that can make changes also for much lower power consumption even without much change in default voltage. No need for special made cards from AIB that destroy the product you still pay above $1600-2000 Usd for. I want it all for what I paid. Castrated or so called special made cards will also get less value the closer you come EOL date. There is still some that keep their cards longer than the next models is out. Get the best value when you can. And slime/slim weaker cards won’t come cheaper. In worst case they will even be more expensive than the real deal. And I hate bad deals vs what I got. Here you have it. Desktop cards has become what we hated with laptops. And I can’t live with that. I stopped buying laptops many years ago. And that’s for a single reason. Destroyed products. As a sidenote. Just look what the different AIB partners talking about when they mention new slim cards/special models as Colorful. All is about modern gamers and lifestyle. I’m happy I’m not the new modern. Being Old is sometimes bothersome but has its own advantages 🙂 -

Just look at some game sessions showed up on ocn. Many way above 500. Even above 600w. As I said before. ADA is very power efficient arc and loads/power consumption can be tuned down. No need for crippling the card from factory. The lifestyle seekers could do the same without have to buy down tuned cards from the different AIBs. And it will come even faster processors that will remove the bottlenecks. Aka you may get even more from your expensive graphics card purchase. Edit. True gaming power above 500/600W. You don’t even need max out the voltage slider. The 4090 HOF etc have 550/666w firmware. Not an XOC vBios. Just right out from Galax factory. https://www.overclock.net/threads/asus-strix-4090-oc-brute-force-max-watts-heat-test-furmark-30-min-pass-at-3840x1600.1803901/ -

Yep, we have now Max-Q design also for desktop cards. 4090 range from 450w for the cheapest models and up to 666W for the 4090 HOF. Or a massive 216W difference. That’s worse than for 4090 laptop cards😆 Beat that bro @Mr. Fox Yep, desktop hardware is now more crippled than in laptops only to please small and disgusting cute tiny pc boxes. Hmm, maybe you should go back to laptops because they are less crippled, LOOL I still can’t understand why someone want the top tier laptop craphics cards down tuned with 90W TGP. In same way as for desktop cards. You don’t get what you should expect. Nvidia finally understood this hence they giving their FE card 600W vBios. AIB partners going the opposite way. Yep, times have changed. Only to please all in same way as they did for jokebooks. All I can say about this modern trend. I hate it. So today’s word has to be trends and lifestyle destroying modern tech 😉 -

The gaming X models is 480w cards. And minimum specs for being called a 4090 is the die size and 450W. So maybe 450/with 480W OC boost power as max. Could be crippled to max 450W if Msi really want destroy them. Yep ADA is very power efficient and can run at quite low power but no need to cap off all the balls. But what do I know. Their lower end 4090 is 450W. -

Remember you aren’t young and trendy gamer. You are the last breed of performance enthusiasts. We doesn’t fit into this sick madness. And I don’t think @Talon who is younger than us two will accept this either. The modern world is on the way becoming crazy. Gaming now involves fusion with other lifestyles that aims to be trendy, unique, and inspiring. You have to wonder why Nvidia preferred 1.070V for the new revision of 4090 silicon. New slim edition cards is on the horizon. Maybe they can’t handle 1.100v. And burned up AIB cards also didn’t help them to stay with 1.100V More disgusting are soon here. Slim serie, or slimy editions @Mr. Fox https://www.sweclockers.com/nyhet/37084-msi-bantar-geforce-rtx-4000-serien-med-ny-slim-serie And the new power connector as Asus prefers on the next gen MB and graphics cards don’t sugar it up. Yep on top of 16 power pins it will have 12 signal pins. Be you sure nvidia knows how to use those 12 new pins to control all power to the cards and from the board. Oc’ing graphics cards as we know it today will be worse. And nvidia will thigten all new loopholes with custom flash software. Then the 3rd disgusting…. MB that will come with all power connectors on the backside of the board. Aka you need a new chassis. You probably also need a new benchtable as well. What a beauty for the nearest future. -

There is almost no point in sending more than 1.150v through the 4090. Temp and power consumption will explode. Got that info from the oc”er I got the 4090 HOF XOC vBios and tools from. He warned me about use it without care. And he is on very cold water loop. I have air cooling so that makes it even worse. Also the Hof XOC vBios doesn’t have thermal limit. I think Asus one is built as the HOF one. That’s a drawback with cards that pull 666W in stock configuration. Rather slightly diminishing results if temps go wacko due no thermal limits. I will try more with the XOC in the winter but I’m sure aircooling doesn’t help much with 800-900w. Or even +1000w as the fried card.Today’s tech is more fragile when they squeeze out the most of it. You need an chiller and sub 30C minus to make use the increased possibilities with the XOC firmware and tools. The modern Ryzen 3D Cashe chip just shows how fragile it has become. Smaller node makes things worse. -

Home l can fix temperature with an oven. Here l have nothing. Only a fan. Last year we had access to air cooling. Now only a fan 😞 35C inside is awful. And this isn’t what I’m used to. 20C is the norm home. When you can’t control this and temp even go higher im screwed. And only 35-40 % remaining lung capacity doesn’t help with this. I don’t know what to do now. They can’t fix me an portable AC. Life sometimes sucks. Exactly as jokeboks. I hate it! -

Yep, a nice tool. But useless for me with dual 12VHPWR connectors 😞 Can’t have it both. Then adding more connectors on the loop also add more possible failures. The Cablemod way😆 And Corsair’s engineering star Jonyyguru have only one tips… Extenders should be banned. Yep, nice the top engineers follow Papusan’s ways thinking tech. The whole world is filled of trash-ware you don’t need. Btw. Happy camper in Canary with 28C. Hope this doesn’t change. Thank you very much my friend. Look at this the next 14 days... Canary Islands, Spain 14 day weather forecast But where we are in Canary the weather will be between 25-29C in middle of the days. The usaual weather is mostly 26C. So perfect for me 🙂 Edit: https://www.holiday-weather.com/playa_del_ingles/forecast/ Much hotter as above 30C and I start struggle with my lungs in same way as in rainy and cold days here home. Can't have it all. So I will enjoy the days with the best weather for me. Edit. Yep, tape works well to keep the aircraft together. Real screws is too expensive. Tripod plane the Dell way😁 Canary here I come. Rain and Norway… Goodbye Yep, real crocks bro @electrosoft😁 All black! https://imgur.com/a/Soer1ok -

Only few hours from now and old Papusan leave the rainy hell called Norway for sunglasses. I have almost forgot how to use them, LOOL😁 One month right outside the coast of Africa with nice weather will make me and my wife good Canary Islands Every summer we spend one months of the year on the islands. Slow days under the outdoor roof and large parasols. Can't be better than this for an old fart. -

Galax/KFA is the sub-brand of Palit Microsystems. Worlds biggest Graphics cards manufacturer. Colorful Group (Colorful Technology) own Colorful graphics cards. A huge Chineese Global brand that operate even in U.S. But that doesn't help yoou much if the best SKUs remain in China/mainland and for the chosen one. Make a limited version of their cards is to push out rest of their gamerboy toys. Flagship models today is more for helping the manufacturer to sell their cheapest SKUs. No one really bother offer avesome. Value and Conclusion This Colorful card comes with an excellent edgy aesthetic that's dominated by sharp angles and a black/gray color theme. Under the hood we found a super powerful 24+4 phase VRM design, which should handle 600 W easily. That's why I was even more surprised to see only 480 W manual adjustment range. This is lower than any other card we've tested today, even lower than the default setting of the ASUS STRIX (500 W). This pretty much disqualifies the card for serious overclockers, unless they want to solder on their card to trick the power limiter into "seeing" reduced power draw. Why the need for destroying own products for no real reasons? Hmmm The big hope is that the U.S government throw out Nvidia from the AI rush in China. Nvidia will still own the high end. Maybe they let Intel get the low/mid end to get rid of AMD. -

Yep. And I can't see a single reason buy the 4080. Even 900$ would be disgusting. The 4080 price point should be the 4080Ti. With no 4080Ti we have none real 4K cards outside the 4090. And Jensen know that. MSI have still the Lightning brand in their portefolio. On time they start fire it up or add the Kingpin brand name on these SKUs and push it out. Asus and Galaxy need competition. In the old days we had Lightning, Kingpin, Matrix and HOF. We need them all back. And in all regions around the world. So 3 players. MSI could come back with Lighning cards, but they prefer not to do so the last gens. They don't need Kingpin to do it. They have the resources to make fantastic cards. But prefer the gamer kid segment. Same as all others. Aka barely good enough at premium price. Edit. Colorful pushed an limited number special SKUs for the chosen one, the LN2 oc'ers (modern influencers for HW). But really no option. So as of today there are minimale options for those that want the best. We all have to accept how it is if we want cards. The gamer kids win, the enthusiast lose. Exactly as with laptops Jokebooks. Aka Unisex = All should have the same. I know @ryanlike this one 🙂 -

Yep, that being closer than ever. Nvidia won't accept working tools like this above. If 1xxx-2xxx-3xxxx and 4xxx was almost locked... What you think will happen when we see 5xxx series in 2024/25 ? An simple performance tweak as cross-flashing with better vbios will be a wet dream from the past Edit. At least one graphics card manufacturer goes the opposite way....... Intel Overclocks Arc A380 with a Driver Update Intel Graphics figured out a unique way to step up performance of its entry-level Arc A380 graphics cards. While other companies prevent BIOS updates and generally discourage overclocking; Intel has given the A380 a free vendor overclock. 13:47 - Is The RTX 4090 Overrated. Nope. The only card worth to buy from the 4xxx series lineup. -

I don't think that's possible from what I have read. -The Tool can not flash random files that the average joe made. -Files made by a Bios editor, won't be --such - but it is a different form of access. -One does not change the cards behavior or flash a custom -OS.Falcon behavior remains to NVIDIA™ property, and RiscV loads Nvidia™ proprietary software - Do not flash Matrix/Lightning/Kingpin/HOF OC-Lab bioses to unsupported PCBs. Their voltage controller layout differs strongly and a lot is managed by 3rd party MCU, where your card has no way to simulate that. And Nvidia will be damn angry(you can also flash your FE with a custom-design vBIOS from board partners). Cross-flash will be closed with 5000 series cards. You all who buy lower tier AIB xx90 cards will be heavly screwed. Nvidia have now long enough time to fully lock down 5000 series cards. Enjoy your 4000 series cards while it last. 5000 series cards will be a huge disaster for us. Be you sure. Want a working 5090... Then forget anything that isn't HOF or Strix/Matrix. Maybe MSI if they go back to Lighning cards. The rest of the SKUs will be a no go. -

The remaining questions will be... Nvidia going fully retarded with 5000 series Nvidia graphics card (No more cross-flashing allowed and even more locked down cards than ever). They won't accept this. No in hell. NVIDIA BIOS Signature Lock Broken, vBIOS Modding and Crossflash Enabled by Groundbreaking New Tools EXCLUSIVE Today, 09:35 You can now play with NVIDIA GeForce graphics card BIOS like it's 2013! Over the last decade, NVIDIA had effectively killed video BIOS modding by introducing BIOS signature checks. With GeForce 900-series "Maxwell," the company added an on-die security processor on all its GPUs, codenamed "Falcon," which among other things, prevents the GPU from booting with unauthorized firmware. OMGVflash by Veii; and NVflashk by Kefinator (forum names), are two independently developed new tools that let you flash almost any video BIOS onto almost any NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, bypassing "unbreakable" barriers NVIDIA put in place, such as BIOS signature checks; and vendor/device checks (cross-flashing). vBIOS signature check bypass works up to RTX 20-series "Turing" based GPUs, letting you modify the BIOS the way you want, while cross-flashing (sub-vendor ID check bypass) works even on the latest RTX 4090 "Ada." The tools bring back the glory days of video BIOS modding using utilities the likes of NiBiTor (now discontinued). The possibilities of such utilities are endless. You can, for example, flash the BIOS of a premium factory-overclocked graphics card onto your close-to-MSRP graphics card. For cards up to RTX 20-series "Turing," in addition to clock speeds, BIOS modding lets you raise power limits, which have a more profound impact on performance, as they increase boost frequency residency. BIOS modding also gives you control over the graphics card's voltages, cooling performance, and fan-curve, so you can make your card quieter, as long as your cooler can keep the GPU away from thermal limits (which you can adjust, too). With cross-flashing (without modifying the BIOS or disturbing its signature), you are now able to restore a voltage of 1.1 V on your RTX 4090 GPU, if you've got one of the newer models, which ticks at 1.07 V only. You could also flash your FE with a custom-design vBIOS with high power limit, to go beyond NVIDIA's power limits. (omg)vflash | Fully Patched nvflash from X to Ada Lovelace [v5.780] nvflashk - Flash any BIOS to NVIDIA GPUs - Safe board ID bypass up to 4xxx series NVIDIA BIOS Signature Lock Broken, vBIOS Modding and Crossflash Enabled by Groundbreaking New Tools
