@ryandownload the free Macrium software, and make an image of your OS, that way when/if something happens it only takes 3 minutes to get your system back up and running. Now you can do reg tweaks to your hearts desire, and not fret about screwing your system up/ Also ask @Mr. Fox@Papusan@Rage Set @electrosoftand others if they run antivirus software, or windows defender? I bet most if not all do not run that garbage, as do I. -

I can just about guarantee you could get improvements like this if you weren't constrained in a laptop, with mobile hardware. I bet that you are throttled because of heat. It is very difficult to make any gains benchmarking with hardware that is only meant to perform at a certain level before being bottlenecked/throttled. -

I remember being on IRC winbeta downloading pirate betas of XP. Loved those days. @Mr. FoxAMD's integrated driver, and wifi does not have a windows 7 driver either. I just disable them, and I installed an Intel 7265 PCIE dual band card for 7. But you are correct in that Windows 7 is dying, and there is nothing we can do about it. Just as the early days of Android being a blast to customize, and hack. Now those days are gone as well. It seems that anything anyone enjoys is taken away, and replaced with crap (Ie Windows 8, 8.1, 10, 11). I have still yet to try 11, as nothing about it seems to compel me to. -

But that means no more Windows 7 for brother @Mr. Fox Unless you have found a working driver for it? -

Put it up for sale in the marketplace, then build yourself a dream desktop. Or close as you can with whatever budget you set. I have an HP Probook/turdbook. Its great for what it is, but it is what it is, and it wont be anything beyond that. I have benched it for a few points on the bot, but never tried to overclock it. -

If you're in your own room, bundle up, close the door, and bring an electric fan in with you. I open the side panel up and let the fan blow directly at my components. If I had more time, I would be doing just that. It's been bitter cold here in Idaho this week, with temps in the single digits Fahrenheit at night. Stanley, Idaho 3 hours from here had a windchill factor of -45f this morning. 🥶 -

Ive been impressed with the WD Black I purchased. I think it was $60 for the 500gb, and in crystal mark testing, it smokes the 970 evo I had in my last build. (probably samsung chips 🙂 ) -

I think the ? is because your gpu driver is is not verified, or some bs like that. I couldn't upload one yesterday, because of the same error you were getting. I think UL adds the ?, so the bot thinks its an invalid URL. -

Would be nice if EVGA would pick up AMD, and Intel, and make graphics cards again. Nvidia burnt that bridge. One of the best gpu's I ever owned was the 1080Ti FTW. Solid build quality, and OC'ed really good. I love EVGA products, but they are a niche company, that needs to expand their product line. They are not very diverse when it comes to PC tech. Last I checked they have not released any Ryzen 7000 motherboards either. -

I have always liked the Dead Space franchise. Sounds like it might be pretty good. Might have to check it out. -

Yesterday was a crap day for me. One of my best friends and coworkers last day at work was yesterday, and we had to put our yellow lab down after 13 years 😥 We are a little heartbroken today. -

Not to interrupt everyone's discussion, but I finally figured out why I've had to install Ltsc so many times, (11). Turns out my ssd had a bad sector, that normal chkdsk wasn't catching. In fact normal chckdsk would corrupt the OS. So I ran chckdsk E: /R from windows 7. It was able to repair the problem, then I quickly did macrium backup. Whew! -

TEC's making a comback? I tried one back in the Phenom days, and would get to the point of diminished returns. Its was fun to mess around with for a while, but was finicky. There was a fine line between having it cool great, to having the hot side take over, Here is a pic of my first prize winning 25th anniversary AMD photo contest,(AMD Swag won) and the TEC I was using. Note: This picture was taken with a Sony Mavica...You know the camera that took the 3.5 floppy disk 🤣 Also note the Quad HD Raid 0 array, and the 2 ATI 3850's crossfired 😆 Note 3: See the Cold cathode on the bottom of the case...lol -

After reading a lot of comments, most think RT is a bit over hyped considering the FPS hit you take when its enabled. To me, it seems more like a marketing gimmick and less of a necessity. I guess Im not the huge gamer I used to be. Am I wrong? -

Just moving across town. Much like tech, its time for an upgrade. Many builders and their finance teams are offering lower interest rates, (incentives) so hopefully we can get in on some of that. Supposedly we are in a "buyers" market, but the problem is most people buying need to sell first...haha. Being in Idaho, (very red) is a luxury that we are enjoying, so we wont be moving out of state any time soon. My wife being from the Philippines, we did build a house there, for her family, and us when I retire. Getting ready to board our 12 hour ferry ride to where her parents lived. 2017 -

Getting closer to cracking the 40K mark in CB 23. Need to do some tuning on the ram. Today is shot though, we are having an open house today, (selling). Wish I could run this in Win 7.
