    @ssj92 I was checking specs and the RTX 4050 mobile has DisplayPort 1.4a compared to P4000 has DisplayPort 1.4, I think DisplayPort 1.4a is backward compatible. Just keeping my hopes up cause the P4000 works with LVDS and EDP 120hz screens

    Depends on the DIE layout of the card. There is an offset of the DIE and xbracket and mobo mounting holes. My P870DM3-G has a GTX 1080 in secondary and RTX 3080 in primary slot. 3080 mounted to the board but heatsink doesn't line up, the 1080 mounts properly. The 4050 looks like the traditional layout

    The RTX 4050 said available on back order when I looked so I made the order any way and the told me when they get the money it will be shipped. They are going on vacation Oct. 1 so I don't know what to expect. (We will have national day holiday off 1st Oct ~ 6 th Oct) So I am hoping Sept.30 it gets shipped

    Yeah, I just paid for a RTX 4050 mxm at https://www.x-vsion.com/ Its listed for $280. Its an A card and am going to try it in 1 of my laptops. Its TCP is rated at 70-100Watts They also have a RTX 4060 but its at 115watts Also found a teardown video at 2:26 it looks like the 1 on xvision

    OK, Thanks for reminding me, I am not the picture person in the house, my wife keeps me busy unloading her phone all the time, I just seem to overlook that job until it's too late. How many times I assembled my PC and sat back and said Damn I wish I took a pic!

    The screw holes line up exactly to the board and the heatsink. Only part of the heatsink overlaps and covers nothing, but it should be more than the cooling the card should ever need

    Yes if it comes to that, the card lists DP/HDMI/EDP so if it does not work in m17xr4 with LVDS screen then I will try in m17xr4 with 120hz screen EDP and take out the P4000 and put it in the other. Then if all fail I would like to try the 2nd slot of m18xr2. These old laptops have alot of options LOL. I recently put a T2000 in Precision M4700 and its more powerful than M6700 now. T2000 is an A card, but it has a tab on it preventing installing in M6700, but it also should fit in m17xr4. Seeing how well the T2000 works and seeing a post here on the forums about RTX 4060 mxm A card an ebay selling for $600+ I decided to go back to xvision for $280

    Thanks @emcze, I downloaded your driver but my m18xr2 is running perfectly and am afraid to touch it. Its getting worn out from all the years of tearing it apart so I'll wait for it to tell me it has a problem I just can't live with. Right now the keyboard lights are out but I can live with that because I use a usb wired keyboard. I recently installed a MOBO in my m17xr4 and tried to change the service tag with "Dell Support Live Image" without success so I purchased a win 11 pro key and just going with that. Also made a purchase from https://www.x-vsion.com/product/mxm-rtx-4050-gpu-powerful/ to see if it works in the m17xr4 or maybe 1 of the laptops I have

    Thanks @Papusan, this is a nice step-up from rufus. At least windows can be back-doored as always, it's the 1 good thing about windows, there is always a back door!!! And Due-Diligence is the 1st requirement

    Which .inf file did you edit? My m18xr2 with 546.29 driver and nvdmig.inf edit is working fine. But I had some issues with later drivers so I went back. Also I had trouble editing the right .inf cause different drivers change the name of the .inf's. Like 552.22 has nvdmwi.inf

    That's the SLI pad, why would it be missing? It wouldn't be needed for m17xr4, I guess different manufacturer's or applied for each model's purpose

    I'd like to see an NPU on MXM and having 2 pcie slots maybe run both GPU and NPU

    That is strange but not necessary, the GTX 680 should run both enabled or disabled for legacy, but only PEG
