So here are a few pics. Got it installed in m17x r4 and it is recognized. I am having issues with AMD drivers and software. The latest drivers amd-software-adrenalin-edition-24.1.1 installs but comes back with an error the hardware does not match. So I am trying different drivers but they keep getting stuck. Hey @ssj92 X Vision is safe to order from now get that 3080 so if it works I will get one. I wonder if there is a .inf file that can be modded or do I need to disable driver signature enforcement? Oh yeah the GPU fan isn't turning on so I needed to run HWInfo everytime to keep it cool. Man I thought I burnt my finger! Edit added a few pics for clarity, see where I files the resistor on the card to help it fit under the copper heatpipe, also filed the copper hoping not to puncture it

Sorry for the suspence but you should be in my shoes! LOL It came yesterday after I made the post. Nice card but I didn't take a pic instead I matched up the m17x r4 GPU heatsink and it needed modifications, Hacksaw and File's. So out to the shed most of the day, took a few pics. I will re post Just wanted to say X vision is right On!!

Thats funny you say that, well it is really not funny. I am still skeptical about my order. Technical.city does NOT mention a mobile AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT. And searching google turns up only desktop GPU's. Searching 3dmark.com/search also turns up desktop scores, no laptops, maybe I missed something. X-Vision.com did confirm the order and $$ transfer and said they will process soon, now I have to wait and see. X-Vision.com is in China and seems to be the ONLY place that mentions these MXM cards. Do you know anybody with a RTX 3080 mxm??? NON Clevo??? form factor. This is why I orderd the cheapest, usable so as to make the pain as little as possible

2 reasons, it is cheaper just in case I dont receive anything from this xvision site and I can put it in another laptop maybe my M6700 or m17xr4. If it comes then I'll get the RTX 3080 for the m18xr2. Its so much easier to swap out the m17xr4 than m18xr2. And there is a chance it might work in the M6700, but if it doesn't then the m17xr4 will Here is a 3rd reason

I would recommend using a bench router and securely passing the plate along the fence adjusting the router cutting depth incrementally with each pass. To avoid needing a steady hand, Expecially at my age LOL Great PICs, I can see the line you cut and the solder filled in nicely. That also looks like it can work in the m18xr2 and m17xr4. Now to find SPS - Heatsink DIS 25W N19E. Thanks for this Great Post!!!

O.K here is what I did. Lucky my wife took some pics as I was doing this as I am not so good at documenting what I do, I get a bit rambunctious to see how it works out. the third pic is the m18xr2 GPU heatsink stock fins. The 1st is after I sanded it down with a belt sander W/240 grit paper. the 2nd is a scratch line of how much I tooki off across the whole length as you can see the even edge across all the fins in the 1st pic. It is now installed with RTX 3000 in m18xr2. The RTX 4000 I flashed another vBios and now I think it is no good. I am waiting for an AMD RX6600 XT from some Fugazy site I don't trust but If I get the card then I will order a RTX 3080 mxm to put cleanly in m18xr2 and the RX6600 XT in the m17xr4 and a possible tryout in the Precision M6700 if not a T2000 might eventually work So the only problem with the HP RTX 4000 is the offset of the DIE and mounting holes about 1/4" or less. It sets the heatsink back to the rear and the fins hit the chassis of the exhaust outlet of the m18xr2. So that 1/16" of an inch worked out really well with just enough clearance and since it has a thicker DIE put a slight pressure under the light board and keyboard. I did it against my better judgement. I ordered Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB from x-vsion.com using Pay-pal to make a deposit in HSBC The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. It will go thru on the 14 Feb. $315.00 is worth the risk. x-vsion.com website even has the drivers to download, which I did just to check for malware, Defender came out clean. The website seems very dedicated to GPU hardware. There is some contact info but I only got an order confirmation. IDK I just couldn't stop myself LOL

If you go to 3DMark support page and type in "Graphics card is not recognized" and hit new support ticket they will fix the VGA card problem pretty quick

You must use 1F76 to install the card. Each card has its own hardware ID. My RTX 3000 installed in m18x r2 PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1F76&SUBSYS_05501028. 0550 is the m18x r2, 0551 is m17x r4. 17 r1 IDK, look in device manager for it. see pic. see my post

Just found an old thread from https://www.techinferno.com/index.php?/topic/11378-msi-gtx-1070-mxm-successfully-working-on-alienware-m17x-r4-another-socket-victory-against-bga-crap/& He mentions disabling "adapter warning" in BIOS. He says it stopped the throttling of his GTX 1070. Maybe its the same issue

So that means the P4000 is working as expected in the 17 R1? That eliminates the 17 R1 for issues, and RTX 3000 ??? My RTX 3000 works both in m18x r2 and m17x r4. I also have a RTX 4000 sitting in a box and might be my fault for swapping in different vBios. IDK if its bricked or just ruined. It will only fit in the m18x r2, it being a HP RTX 4000 and to get it to fit in the m17x r4 chassis grinding is needed and am not ready to do that. I love the MXM cards but having a box full goes with it I noticed this thread might be helpful troubleshooting the card

What DirectX do you have? Go check out https://benchmarks.ul.com/legacy-benchmarks and try older ones. Use the serial # to unlock full version. I have them all, the last one I ran was Vantage, but just to see which works for your PC

What benchmark did you run? There are many, many benchmarks for testing your hardware. 3DMark you must have a Nvidia or AMD graphics card. CPU-Z you can test your CPU. Others test your HDD/SSD
