FFS, just took me 1.5 hours of jumping back and forth between 10 online shops, price comparison search engine and TPU reviews to finally snipe a 4090 😄

so while looking at the TPU reviews in the end i decided against the Zotac card, 300€ higher price for same cooler performance as the FE just aint worth it...

Strix OC looks like a great card, but good luck getting a reasonable price for it! and there it was, the MSI Suprim X for the same price as the Zotac, at a reputable online shop, sporting the quietest cooler and the overall strongest VRM power delivery: SNIPED!

5 seconds after my order went through it was sold out 😂 TRUCKLOADS OF STOCK MY A$$!

So almost no difference between FE and Strix. just on size and price..not worth it.

Sad times for partners card, almost same performance FE but they need to sell at a much higher price to get some profits..EVGA knew. Nvidia is killing them

Exactly, same thing finding derBauer found. If I was an AIB, I would come up with a smaller card that still does the same job, as it would. This tech is so efficient, there is no point in putting an actual radiator in the PC.

Yeah i edited my post, AIB are in deep trouble, they need to sell more expensive for profit but  teh cards performe the same as the FE..even the temperature is the same..almost no reason to buy one.plus 400 $ for a strix for 2 3 fps is insane

Apparently there is not much point in OCing this, but well done finding any stock at all today. Nvidia def learned their lessons on how to manage stock to extract max value 🙂

Nope. The FE card run significantly hotter than the better of the AIB cards. Around 10C hotter and with more noise. But the main problem is that Nvidia have voltage locked the cards. The 4090 cards ain't TDP limited. They are voltage limited. And Nvidia have also opened up the TDP slider for their FE cards this time. Aka big win for Nvidia's in house cards over the AIB cards. Cheaper and the AIB cards won't run much faster in games. The FE design is also appealing for some people (but not my style). I will wait to see when the AIB partners is forced to reduce prices of their more expensive cards. ASUS etc will lose lots of sales due the awful high premium. First batches wil may sell out, but the cards will stay here longer than a couple of months.

Source? Reviews generally state the FE card is cool and quiet. Der Bauer claims I wasn't able to OC the Aorus master over the FE. When comparing FE (stock or OC? not clear) to Aorus Master OC it's +6% in TS Extreme.

Sure a gigantic radiator of a card will be somewhat cooler, but will it matter in practice.

The only thing I would look for in an AIB card is less height (not available on the typical radiator AIB models) or a rear power connector. Anyone saw a 4090 card with the latter feature?

How are things looking with closing the case? The power connector looks crazy bent on this picture, like you are about to rip the connector off the PCB. The general advice is to minimise any bend on these high power PCIe cables, obviously next to impossible with the moronic card size and connector placement.

Nice, do you mind measuring the extra space required for the connector+cables, as well bent as you have them? Looks like somewhere around 20mm extra....

Reviews. One of the reason AIB partners can charge premium over FE is due overkill cooling. This come at a cost.

Well from what i saw the AIB cards. Strix and tuf are not that much cooler as the FE. Jayztwocents says araund 2 celsius and gearseekers says 5 6 degrees for the tuf and it dependals of the game. Personally for me this is not worth the  price increase over FE.

I'll be curious to see how the hybrid cards fair against all this air cooling. For air cooled cards, Aesthetically, the FE 4090 I like. I do like the Strix design too. It is very Asus like.

I'm excited to see some new builds with new GPUs and new motherboards too. I greatly enjoy watching other people's builds and results.

That needs a water block for a lot of reasons, many of them having little or nothing to do with the GPU. The most obvious is, you don't want that space heater with a cool core pumping a butt-load of hot air into your case if you care about something other than the GPU.

To some extent it will overclock itself. Doesn't matter for playing games. It does matter for competitive benching. For gaming having a consistent experience no matter the brand is a win. Everyone having a consistent experience is a massive loss for competitive overclocking. You don't care about the experience anyone else is having, you only care about how far you can push it past what they are experiencing. If you can't do that the product is worthless and a waste of money. You should buy something cheap for gaming.

Yes i think the 4080 will be the sweetspot for gaming, also in 4k. 4090 is in many current titles overkill in 4k, paired with a good CPU.

Nvidia's kick in the ass for to the AIB partners. Is +33% 600w what all partners is aloowed for 4090? And of course, Locked voltage for all 4090 cards.

BIOS Power Limit Manual Adjustment Range

Yep, Nvidia should have throw in the last nail in the AIB coffin (get rid of them all - the EVGA way) and made better cooling for higher sustained boost clock. They had the potential to be the overall winner but cheaped out on the max cooling. Good binned chips (both for the cores and memory) is nice to have. But same is better cooling for the cards.

image.png.4d0c7828dc0384226863b2c996ff0b72.png

Not the first time I have seen Zotac get the worse binned memory chips. Hope they can deliver better forwards. The GPU silicon is the binned one.
