I have to say that it is nice that the AMD Apex was not priced higher than an Intel Apex. It is the price I would have expected to pay for it, not inflated or even tariffed. Nice! It will be good to see some 1DPC comparisons on a top tier board and if 8000+ is worth it on it.

 

There are plenty of people with too much disposable income AND those with zero fiscal restraint via credit cards that continue to fuel the overt scalper markets who are snatching up everything for immediate markup and resell. 😞 I'm a firm proponent of the market setting its own conditions in regards to supply/demand but being in the business of just buying up everything with bots and middlemen just to jack up the prices and resell? That gives me pause.

 

I have never, ever purchased anything marked up and never will.

Asrock, what happen to thee?  Their 600 series 1dpc cheap boards were absolute bargins and routinely beat much pricier options from Asus and MSI.

Thx, lots of work related stuff and busy with the kids and wife..also got fed up with the industry. Nothing exciting anymore. Doing more WM stuff on old hardware like Proxmox, learning more kubernets and stuff😀.

Hahaha, nope. But it was a funny coincidence I saw on the last pages that you guys were talking about the 6000 pro and today at the office comes a guy from the research department and gives us a 6000 pro in the hand. When we have time to find a machine in our racks that can accommodate  the beast so they can test it🤣. It was free  from nvidia, our firm has a collaboration with all the big players  and we get from time to time stuff to test...funny thing is they don't want them back so after they lay in the firm, forgotten. But it's a heavy one. But also only one crappy small 12hpwr on it...

 

I haven't bought anything from this new stuff that is on the market..in my eyes is only expensive shit..nothing worthwhile..I will not pay their prices. I'll wait for next generation or buy a 5090 when it's under the msrp price 😃. The same with the expansive amd and intel 💩

It is important to Micro$lop that all of our PCs are zombie machines that allow the Redmond Reprobates to monitor and control them and harvest data in whatever ways they deem appropriate. The machines that are not subject to their command and control ecosystem are non-compliant trash to them. They also loathe that these rogue machines are often owned by rebellious consumers that dare to defy them or bypass their mandates and edicts. And, this is precisely what makes the older PCs and properly deconfigured and overridden "features" on new machines come to be viewed as not trash to everyone else. Intel have created a real Frankenstein processor with their fake and real tile chips mess. If you want every drop from your expensive Gen-5 drive then you are forced to borrow lanes from the GPU path. And this can't be fixed by firmware. I'ts done by design. Yees.

That score is not very promising with a shunt mod..... He might be missing the steps to make the score much better and more presentable for other FE owners.

 

This score I posted on OCN is using stock cpu and memory. Meaning bios is stock right now.

Which is good news for SN as this means nothing else is really influencing the score. It's pure GPU

Well, I’m sure it’ll probably drop a huge amount off of the tiny 2 slot air cooler temps.  The 5090 FE PCB is super thick so contact pressure should be great. I hope it’s good.

So, the X870E Apex is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

 

 If it doesn't handle bifurcation on the PCIe slots the way I need it to then I will return it for a refund. I am pretty sure only one M.2 slot and DIMM.2 can be populated. Two of the motherboard M.2 slots must be ignored if you want PCIe X16 for the GPU. Same is true on the AORUS Master, but all of the slots can be used without gimping the GPU.

Honestly, says 5/16, but I’m not sure how concrete that is. I did not order from EKWB. I got mine from Aquatuning in UK. 🇬🇧 I expect Aqua tuning to receive their B2B orders first before customers buying direct “1 Block” from EKWB getting theirs first. Aquatuning is a bigger customer (Sad but probably true) 😎

BIOS 1401 on Hero x870e boots DOCP 8200 on the TG 8200 sticks no problem with this 9800X3D but those stock timings are ugh

I'll be real curious to see how it compares to the Gene and Aorus and if it's worth the lucre being charged for it. On the other hand, it is only $50 more than the Hero at this point so.....

hm if thats true it would be a regression. on my board i can populate 4 out of the five M.2 slots without affecting the GPU (as i currently am doing with my storage setup).

The "problem" with the Apex and many others is too many Gen5 M.2 slots and USB4 ports. This is a design choice and deliberate allocation of resources. Gen3 and Gen4 is fine for storage and hardly anyone benefits from Gen5 M.2 or USB4 on an overclocking-focused motherboard. It is a wasteful use of resources on things that shouldn't matter much.

 

Thanks to the overrated and unnecessary PCIe 5.0 and USB4 rollout, now we generally have to choose between M.2 sockets and PCIe slots because there are not enough lanes to make everyone happy. I prefer to have usable PCIe slots over M.2 sockets because I can use the slots for whatever I want, whether it is for more M.2 or something else. Not being given a choice is the part that I object to. It is why the Taichi was installed less than an hour before I sent it back for a refund. Not being able to use a PCIe slot without halving the GPU slot bandwidth to X8 is unacceptable. The AORUS Master handled this the way I require, but that is unfortunately rare to find now. All of the motherboard development monkeys only know one way to do things and it is usually not the right way.
