Mr Fox, what can I benchmark any ideas? I want to contribute to this thread but it's for desktop and my laptop is mid-tier. well the i7 11800h is pretty nice and the 3200mhz memory isn't shabby. but I thought about benchmarking my SSD. sigh wish I had the samsung 980 like everyone else

here it is underwhelming gen 4 performance. fast for gen 3 mind you

Bro, you are contributing. No need for verification. All of us were "DTR" overclockers (some still are) before we went back to desktop.  https://www.3dmark.com/compare/fs/26785502/fs/26785331# My questionable laptop scores, don't judge me, lol.

Keep learning and reaching, you are getting there.

Yes, totally agree with Brother @Rage Set (quoted below). Unless you are one of the "Chosen Ones" with sponsors that give them cherry-picked hardware to play with, nobody makes money or gets famous doing this. It is all for fun and fellowship. We learn stuff from one another and find things in common. So, anything you want to bench and share with us.

To name just a few, randomly and from the top of my head, some of the more entertaining benchmarks are:

* Some of these are old and hard to find. I downloaded them when they were still  available from the originating author web pages, but you can skip surfing shady web sites packing malware and grab them from my Google Drive >> LINK <<

That whole run of bad luck you had was crushing to read @Mr. Fox seriously..... 😪

Thank you. I know you and a number of others were affected by it and it is nice to be part of a group of people that care about each other even though we have never met one another face-to-face. It means a lot to me, brother.

I got a notification for the Z690 Dark, literally a day later after getting into the queue. I am not sure if I'm lucky or EVGA overestimated the desire for this board. What to do? I have the Z690 Extreme and the Strix-A...and one CPU for them both. I don't need another Z690 board...but it is very tempting. I could sell the Extreme but then I lose that sexy 10G LAN (yes, it is worth it).

That is a really tough call. All good boards, but given all of them are insanely expensive (save for maybe the Strix) I would probably go with the Dark mobo.

Amen to that.

Brother @johnksss disappeared on us again. Things must have gotten really busy at work, but that is a good problem to have.

Bro ryan continue as you do 🙂 And you aren't needed to post benchmarks in the thread. Thats up to you. As for benchmarks then look into my forum profile page "About me". You will even find links to software I prefer in my profile page. Please give me a heads up if you can't see it 🙂 And for all... Have a nice weekend.

Comparison of stock EVGA 3090 K|NGP|N backplate thermal pads vs. Fujipoly full PCB thermal pad (from OptimusPC) vs. Fujipoly full PCB pad plus MP5WORKS block. The test used was EVGA OC Scanner's Furmark Memory Burner test. The first two tests were run for 5 minutes each. After installing the MP5WORKS block I allowed it to run for 10 minutes.

Nice ~12c drop from stock to pads + block! How does the EVGA test compare to mining which really gets memory nice and toasty?

It is not as stressful on memory as mining but I don't have any mining software installed anymore to test with. The ultimate test will be how much colder chilled water can make it. I'll find that out a little bit later today.

The EVGA Z690 Dark is incoming. I guess I should buy another 12900k and maybe, just may be I luck out with better.

Edit: I'm going to sell the Asus Z690-A D4. No reason to keep it now.

Oh man. That is going to be awesome. I hope you pick a winner on the CPU.

Still working on finding the right voltage and v-droop setting for 5.7GHz validation. Getting closer, but not there yet.

Hopefully you get a monster bin! And yeah, that would make three Z690 boards. I like the EVGA approach still the best overall but they are pricing themselves out of my league quickly even with the Classified clocking in at $629.99.

The USB issue was the end for myself. As someone who works extensively with external media that was a deal breaker. 4x8 B-dies ran nice and tight. Outside of AMD purposely backing off of some boosting settings performance was good and you could always manually tune the CPU like Intel.

With that being said, I'm like 99% sure I'm going to skip the 12900ks and give the 5800X3D a whirl on a budget board.

Crysis-Remastered-2022-02-19-18-59-10-50

im getting 40-80fps with crysis maxed at 1080p I dont know how crytek went from netting me 20fps to 80-90fps but thanks and i dont know how nvidia makes dlss look like native resolution with 2xsmaa like how the heck. dlss 2.3 is so much better its not even funny 😛

I also noticed crysis remastered yet again has new textures and effects and better performance by quite a bit, its fun mowing down trees and spraying water now it has a FX of water droplets flying up and like I have never seen such good graphics in my life.

I would like to add the performance 80-90fps is with dlss off. so yeah it's a pretty big deal when games look this good and run this well. I have never seen a 1080p image look so sharp in a video game you will see what I mean when you turn off AA.

@mr.fox your 3090 can probably run 4k maxed now.....at over 60fps I highly recommend you check it out and let us know what you think.....in the name of benchmarking that is 😛

here is 40-60 on veryhigh settings with a 3060

now heres a pic of the beginning getting 84fps where I should be getting 54fps

they did something and I like it, this makes crysis remastered the perfect benchmark of new hardware.

Crysis is played in the name of Crysis. Nothing else is as worthy to be played.

That whole run of bad luck you had was crushing to read @Mr. Fox seriously..... 😪

I guess my bad luck streak isn't over. 😞

That CPU died. I can't see anything wrong with it. After benching it earlier today, I set it back to 5.3GHz all core at 1.265V.  I used the computer for several more hours, then I had dinner with two of my kids and their families. I came back a couple of hours later, set the BIOS to defaults and flashed the firmware on BIOS position #2 with v1.10 from EVGA. When it shut down after flashing it never booted again. It also won't boot in the Strix mobo. It shows a VGA error on the Strix (VGA red LED comes on). It goes through the normal series of codes on the LCDs and acts like it is going to POST and then stops with a Q-code 24 on the Z490 Dark. I cannot find any documentation on Q-code 24.

So, I am back to using my SP81 10900K. It's not the firmware. I am using the BIOS I flashed with no issues.

I am really super bummed out. I got to use it 3 days. I don't understand how/why it happened. Makes no sense. $400 down the toilet. I think it is time for me to give up for real.

WOW....I am speechless. I've known you for over 10 years now and I can't recall you ever having such a bad run on CPUs or situations ever.
