I think it's probably the most entertaining benchmark there is. Certainly my favorite in terms of entertainment value.

The i3 is a better sample for sure. Intel is sand bagging so hard with this "low end" locked SKUs. They could have eaisly released higher clocks. But milk milk milk. 🐮🐄 Alder Lake is a beast.

ok so I tried it out yeah that works saves a few steps thanks @Talon

I usually use Snipping Tool included with Windows for all my screen grabs and such (unless full screen) for posting and saves. Give that a try too.

Pushing a bit further. Pretty excited to see what the i3 will do now. I'll see if I can get 5.5Ghz out of this chip first though. Not bad for a Pentium dual core in 2022 lol.

lol, I have an i3-12100f being delivered to finish building out a low cost system with an Asus H610M-A! 12th gen is pretty nice to the point where a 12100f can keep pace with a 9900k for most games. It slaps down my i3-10105f that's for sure.

Edit: I actually ended up switching to an Asrock B660M for less and it offers more. When going dirt cheap is the ultimate goal still try to extract the most bang for buck.

Pure P-Cores and half the count at that leaves a nice bit of thermal headroom and yeah, you know they could open it up a bit but the 12100 definitely has to fit within a specific envelope for its target audience.

What mode are you running your RAM in? In the BIOS there is an option to change the memory speed. I think you'll find that using 3200Mhz Gear 2 is worse than using 2933Mhz Gear 1. Although it's not labeled this. It's labeled SA GV or something similar. There is 20ns difference in latency and not that much difference in read/write to justify the latency hit.

A dramatic improvement in memory latency and better overall system performance. Not sure if Gear 1 is SA GV on or off, but whichever option mean Gear 1 in proper vernacular.

The stupid Gear 1/2 foolishness was one of the reasons I did not like Z590 and went back to Z490. There is no idiotic Gear 1, Gear 2 nonsense on Z490. There is no reason for the latter to exist. It does nothing but allow higher RAM clocks at the expense of sloppy loose timings and horrible latency.

It should help lots of things. Run AIDA64 Cache and Memory benchmark with it turned  off and repeat with it turned on and you will see the change in latency. It is nice when a free "upgrade" that takes 1 second does so much that you can feel it in the seat of your pants. But, it remains a mystery what the reason is for the poor performance option to even exist. The fact that it does seems very stupid to me.

yeah not sure but I had to disable like half of windows 11 to get the look and feel of 7/10 as for latency I think im going to keep it off as my computer feels faster and games are running better.

73maxed.png

maxed no dlss not bad getting 74fps average its above the magic 60 even though it dips into the 50s looks pretty similar to normal so I don't think ill be playing this game maxed as my eyes have a hard time spotting the differences between normal and maxed. a big jump in IQ however is setting DLSS to quality, smoothes things and not sure how it works but im getting better performance, I should be able to get a locked 144fps. will try.

At those low of frequencies for laptops, Gear2 makes absolutely no sense in any way, shape or form. Gear1 should always be the default. Blame it on the OEM. With much tighter latency the trade off is astronomical versus minimal gains in bandwidth.

My Acer Swift 3 in my sig is AMD based and runs gear 2 but at least the memory is at 4266. I still would have preferred 3200 Gear 1. It is soldered on which I loathe too.

you guys heres my stock gpu and undervolted cpu score, not pretty....no idea why after a month the cpu is running so hot.  When I first got this computer I was running 4.8ghz topping out at 85c now im running 4.1ghz hitting 100c

Screenshot-22.png

im thinking of taking my laptop to london drugs to get liquid metal put on cpu and gpu for 100. I'm getting a pro to do it because its easy to fry your cpu or gpu with liquid metal, super risky. this way I have coverage

most people with the omen 16 are hitting 12k im hitting 9k... gpu is spot on though maybe even a little high

I thought you weren't the biggest fan of MSI, but this board seems to be really good for the price and generally really good for memory OC, hopefully you won't have too many problems with it as I know Asus boards have given you hell.

Thank you. Based on the research I was able to complete among a tremendous amount of marketing noise and lies, that Unify-X does seem like the best option overall. As much as EVGA is my first choice, I am not willing to pay the premium price for an EVGA Dark board. If Brother @Rage Set gets some incredible results from it, I might consider it later on if the MSI board isn't everything I hope it will be. The one thing I do not like about the design of the Dark series--probably the only thing--is the VRM heat sink interfering with placement of a water-cooled GPU backplate. Besides my own less than wonderful experience with ASUS, I have been noticing many things that do not boost my confidence about the brand based on what others are experiencing.

I haven't been impressed by MSI overall and I am kind of going out on a limb here. My only experience with a product made by MSI was the Tornado F5 laptop, so my opinions are only based on what I see, hear and read. They have historically been a brand that caters to gamer-boys and that has been the basis for my not liking them, but the Unify-X does seem like a legit overclocking enthusiast product. I liked Buildzoid's breakdown on the product and at the end of the day I don't care about brand except to the extent it become synonymous with quality (or the lack thereof). I like that MSI ditched the iGPU and the Unify-X doesn't support it at all. I also like that it has dual BIOS, board-mounted buttons and no RGB features on the board (only RGB headers).

that forum. had like 2 replies per week. I find it sad seeing NBR all divided up. If anyone knows spartan maybe he can join here, not sure what his problem is.  usually he posts alot and all of his content is high quality

Well, it looks like this is the place to be now. I advocated using all three sites while the smoke cleared and in less than a month it has done just that. I liked the approach here and Spartan's approach. They both felt like the old NBR in a good way.

Hopefully either Spartan is working on something behinds the scene, eventually makes his way here or both. He's a good dude and a valued member of the community.

Welcome! 🙂 I knew you would join the club! I just didn't expect it so soon. When I'm getting ready to discuss something I want to buy, I usually start with a home made meal, make sure any chore list items are finished and then ask if there's anything she's had her eye on and try to establish parity in purchase desire. It works....sometimes.

I really have no problems with MSI boards. I found their value Z590 board was a monster overclocker and I grew to like the BIOS very much. I was torn between the MSI Z590-A Pro and the Strix D4 this time around. They were my only two choices.

I still can't stand Gigabyte boards.

My hard limit for a motherboard is $350. $829 + tax is just crazy talk for my wallet atm.

I take it you snagged the SP92 on ebay? That looks like a decent sample if that's the one you picked up.

Those Hynix ICs are the way to go too!

Congratz Brother!

Congrats my friend. and I hope the bad luck finally turn on to the better. Everything won't last forever. And good luck will come back.

Got a new HW for my machine (OS disk). I always stick to Samsung. Have always done that. Not that the new Pro disks is much better than other similar disks... I still jump on it. And the other brands ssd's is near in price point (Prices is near 50% above what you'll pay in U.S), so..... Samsung it will be 🙂

Here is new pict of my crocks bro @electrosoft 🙂
