funny to see how "frugal" youve become in terms of spending money on new hardware my man 😄 but totally the sensible thing to do! nevertheless, i find it amazing how crazy fast DDR5 prices have dropped in just 3 short months. i can now get a 32GB 7600 kit for the same price as i originally bought my 6600 kit

Cheaper? Not the way I see it... When the 6600 sticks was out they was top of the line and very expensive. Now they are cheaper, slower and the new high end sticks are out. Etc G. Skill DDR5-8000 at near 600$ or equal disgusting priced as when the DDR5-6600 was brand new and the top dog.. So nothing have really changed 🙂

on the other hand, their plan is working, 40 series GPUs are so ridiculous in their pricing (aside from the 4090) that ppl rather go for the 30 series. lets see how much, if anything, AMD is able to change that in mid Dec....

Nvidia can't have help from the miners anymore to keep prices up. Now they have to do it themself. Just produce less cards to keep up the price point.

Could be Nvidia that have asked the retailers to help them get rid of 4080 cards. Because almost no gamer will buy them.

Now, can you please chastise bro @jaybee83 a little? He bought a Seasonic TX-PRIME 1600, that is even more expensive, and unfortunately no proper explanation has been provided yet 😉

HaHa.

Bro @Etern4l Wasn't about what you bought. Your choice of PSU was an exelent choice. And me... I don't want to judge peoples choices. If they are happy. Then I'm happy 🙂 And thanks for the nice words.

@jaybee83 are you good at math?🙂 How will this calculation be if you pay the double price for the more power efficient PSU and use it 12 hours pr day and sum up after a year?😁 Lets say the cheap one costs $250 and the expensive $500. How much will you save?CIGAR.gif.51fa958df67d03c9e72b014aed202c6e.gifCIGAR.gif.51fa958df67d03c9e72b014aed202c6e.gifCIGAR.gif.51fa958df67d03c9e72b014aed202c6e.gif

I think the more efficient PSU’s are better at simply making us feel better lol. Kinda Like, “hey I have a super high end, high quality unit” I feel great about squeezing tons of power from my components now! It will be as reliable as it can be! That’s what they do for me anyways. They don’t really do anything else for me beyond that point lol. Who doesn’t love a really nice PSU though!

Btw. My sons white baby just arrived. What a neat small box vs the big black box.

Edit. Damn small box. I'm not used to this. Neither for laptops and neither for desktops. I love big. Everything has to be big. Bigger the better. I can barely work with my hands inside this box, HaHa. One cm headroom left before the chosen GPU will crash in the pump, LOOL

Well, MB is off to RMA yet again. User error is killing me with this board.🤦‍♂️

While doing a flash back I thought the flashing was done after forgetting about it for like 10 minutes or so. I power cycle the board and no boot. Double white line. I try to boot 2nd bios and because the first flash apparently wasn't done it messed up the second bios. Oh brother!

Hit up MSI and they had RMA ready with paid label in under 5 minutes. From me starting off by saying "bad bios flash"

Not sure what is different, but they are footing the bill this time.

In other news.... I was able to reserve a Zotac and a Strix 4090, but then the Strix fell off and it kept the Zotac. LOL It's still sitting at Microcenter right now. Along with a Suprim X. They just got a shipment of cards in while I was over there looking for a replacement for this stupid MSI board and this Liquid X. They also have some Strix 4090's but guess what? All of them are DOA! So that was why they took the one I had in cart.🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️😂 And of course I asked how did they know this and their reply was...."Because we open them all and tested them." As to why they would even know to do that first? Guess Asus must know something or customer returns in less than 24 hours. I did not ask about the latter of the two.

Sorry to hear that. You've certainly had a "Mr. Fox experience" with that thing. I am glad they seem to be focusing on providing a better customer experience this time around. Hope all is well with you otherwise, bud.

New test bios out for Asus Z690... v2204 RaptorLake Resources

Still no MC SP for the Strix, but this BIOS is stable and now the Strix can easily run the M-die at 6800. It could before, but for some reason rebooting would usually produce Q-code 55 unless I turned off or unplug the PSU and now it does not do that anymore. So, that is good.

Yeah, I hear you. Working in cramped spaces on a desktop is infuriating to me. It makes me angry any time I have to work on a system where stuff is packed in like a can of sardines. The only thing better than bigger is no case as all. Moving to a desktop should make accessing everything easy and comfortable, not sucky like a laptop.

Could be Asus made some changes as for the Z790 boards like renesas pmic high voltage mode with no vdroop now.

And the MB makers could have made better Z690 boards from the beginning. The Z790 boards is better for any of todays  DDR5 sticks. M-die or A-die doesn't matter. Same for the worse Samsung and Micron ICs. New boards handle they better.  Paying premium should have offered better quality. Z690 was the guinea pig for DDR5 so the HW engineers should have kicked the the bean counter in the balls and say this is what it costs to make working boards (save money other places than on the boards quality)

Regarding small chassis. The The H7 Flow Mid-Tower, this is not the smallest mid-tower chassis, then imagine how it is to work in the smaller SFF chassis😀

Brother @Talon - new Z690 Dark BIOS is released. Gonna grab it and test now.

Edit: Flashed with no issue. Here are the new M-die and A-die profiles from Vince and Luumi.
(Nothing from CENS, but I never liked his profiles anyhow. They always kind of sucked.)

DAAYYYUM!

@Talon

My generic green M-die sticks just booted and loaded Windows at 7800... LOL.

All I did is load a profile and set boot priority. I haven't tuned anything and it's not 100% stable. But, wow... M-die running like this is pretty great. Eager to see how your A-die runs Brother @Talon.

Not everyday I see great features added for desktop chassis, but this one was new. I like it. Maybe I can buy one and paint it in the same black color as my Corsair 1000D. Need more info from the owners of this chassis first.

OK, that makes sense. It is not covering it, but next to it. 👍

Yeah, I like that bracket as well. I look forward to hearing what you find out from Lian Li about availability.

If the color Lian Li used for the Lancool chassis wasn't ugly brown black and instead used real black it would almost be plug and play. Just drill 4 holes. Even two would be enough. Could be the color is different in real life. All the White modern color mess destroy for proper black colors nowadays.

@Talon

Not ready for prime time. Going back to the old BIOS until they fix a couple of bugs.

@evga_james - memory overclocking is much better, but I see a couple of problems.

  1. Ring/Cache will not go above 45x. I have it set in the BIOS for 47x. In Windows is shows 45x and it does in ELEET. If I try to manually set it to 47x in ELEET, it goes back to 45.
  2. All core clocks do not hold in Cinebench. Cores randomly drop to 800MHz across the p-core and Cinebench scores are 10,000 points lower.

Good first stab at it, but those things need to be fixed before it is a usable firmware.

Do they even test firmware before they push it out? Can't even test if the core ratio works as it should. This reminds me all about Microsoft and their awful CU patches.

I'll see if I find similar cheap fan setup for bottom chassis below the GPU. What I have now isn't on same level in finish🙂

Hello no. None of them (MSI, ASUS, Gigabutt, EVGA) do. They probably make sure nothing is too badly broken and then wait for people to complain about what needs to be fixed. Sometimes they get lucky and everything works. The nice thing about EVGA is I can email their support team and ask for a modification in the firmware, and they do it for me. If I reply that it works well and show them the benefit, they implement it on the next release. No way MSI, ASUS or Gigabutt would do that. They probably would not even give the courtesy of a reply to say no. They don't give a rat's ass about the people that buy their garbage.

I have seen kits with the metal brackets and screws for very cheap, and you add your own fans.

I hate PayPal… Who else is with me? They never hold my funds. I sold some items last month immediate funds available, and now PayPal is picking on me left and right by holding my funds. I sold something for $150 USD, and they finally released the money 76 hours after delivery 😂

I shipped and sold a CPU to Germany for a lot more money. Wonder how long they’ll hold those funds for? It has already been 36 hours since delivery.

Do you guys think PayPal is trying to draw interest or what are they doing? Their policy says payments released 24 hours or 1 day after delivery. But they’re not honoring that policy at all. Seems crazy to me that they can even do that.. They literally just tuck your money in their crack and sit on it. It’s so frustrating.

I’m super off topic, wanting to vent frustration lol. Anyone ever deal with this before though?

I don't use Paypal all too much and I haven't had one of these issues. My only suggestion would be to get in contact with them if you haven't already and discuss the pay period with them.

I haven't had any issues with PayPal, but I know others have. Now, eBay, on the other hand... nothing nice to say about that scurvy outfit. I cringe every time I sell something on eBay, clinch my butt-cheeks and pray that I don't get screwed again. PayPal holding your money sucks, but it is an inconvenience. I'd rather have them hold funds a few days selling something versus the highway robbery fees you get screwed out of on eBay.

I closed my Paypal account after they "mistakenly" put in their terms of service, that they  reserve the right to fine you if they found that you were spreading "misinformation". They can go suck the south end of a northbound bovine, as far as I am concerned.

WTF happened to video card prices? Holy Jebus!!! I am not getting a new one with my build at those prices...Stupid how much hardware has increased in the short time I was away. Ive just about gathered everything, and decided to go with an all in one cooler. Less of a headache. The reviews seem pretty solid at the egg. Has anyone read/heard anything about the EVGA CLCx?

Almost all large corporations involved in techology, especially where it involves use of the internet, (yes, PayPal falls in that category) is a sick, ungodly, woke leftist retarded mess. Unfortunately, I have to use PayPal for certain things because there is not another option. I'd love to see them, and all the rest like them, go out of business. I am thoroughly enjoying watching the lefty emo-nuts come unhinged over Twitter. It's great to see karma exacting its vengeance on them for all of the evilness they have shown over the past 2-3 years.

I'm not buying a GPU anytime soon. I'm not willing to pay what they want. I am thankful that I do not need one. I will just keep using what I have that is already more powerful than it needs to be. They can bob over and plant a wet one where the sun don't shine, LOL.

If I were going to buy a GPU today it would be an Intel Arc A770 (assuming I could find one). I tried to find one when I purchased this 3060 Ti and it was not for sale anywhere.

EVGA CLCx... I think I remember... yup, found it.

I will use them, but only as a credit card processor. I will not have an account with them, and transfer funds to and from any business or person. Thanks for the video, After some research it seems that the cooler is actually an asetek built for EVGA? ahh nevermind, he explains that in the video.
