Thanks a lot for the data point and advice Bro. Good idea with the electrical tape, although in my mind it would be something worth trying when buying on a secondary market. If Corsair can't ensure a power cord fits a brand new flagship unit correctly, what else could go wrong? Or am I asking too much of the manufacturers these days lol?

I think it is an exception or a lucky accident most of the time when something tech-related turns out great. The norm is the opposite. I think they are all capable, but caring is questionable.

I just roughly used what people are paying on eBay to obtain these GPU’s.

Strix 4080 is $1,800

Strix 4090 is $2,800

Any 4080 is $1,500

Any 4090 is $2300

Look for average sell through and price for starters since launch (or the last month) and you will see a sell through rate of ~9% for 4080's and ~53% for 4090s. As you've seen, Strix's cause people to dump massive sums on name brand over MSRP.

Secondly, go back and look for completed sales for the 4080 listed by ended recently and you will see most are black (not sold) vs green (sold). You would never see so many unsold units back during the Crypdemic. This doesn't take into account auto renewed listings.

Nvidia can purposely hold back inventory all they want but they are not going to manufacture demand except to scalpers. The overall demand is just not there. Just keep watching and wait till ~Feb 2023.

Sit back, relax and enjoy your 3090 till then. 🙂

I sold my KPE 3090ti last night so I'll be waiting it out with the Strix 3080 till Feb 2023 and beyond before I make any type of decisions. I'm putting the A770 in the wife's rig and A380 in my daughter's rig.

It’s crazy how the RTX4080 is like the worst value in GPU history. And anyone buying one is essentially bending over for Nvidia.

However on a side note, even if we did want to get pounded by Nvidia for $1200 USD for a cut down GPU. I can’t seem to find them. I find it hard to believe that this many people are actually wanting to buy a RTX 4080. Who is it that uploaded these videos talking about “4080’s rotting on the shelf” is that actually real? It looks like the market is very scare for 4080’s.

2 hours ago, electrosoft said:

Where are you looking? Using Best Buy or Newegg as a metric is flawed. What is being asked and what is actually being paid are two different things and if Nvidia wants to create artificial scarcity in the end someone has to want to buy it when it is available.

This "demand" isn't anything like before and anyone buying right now over MSRP is making a mistake vs just waiting a few months

This is so Ugly it can be. Who thought AMD would help Nvidia sell their overpriced 4080 cards? Could be that the overpriced 4080 looks great on paper when we take into account of what the custom AMD cards will be priced at. Nvidia is smart... Maybe they know AMD don't have much cards in stock to push out. Just let the ugly prices be there and people who waited on AMD's offer will have jump on 4080 as this cards most likely will be in stock.

Pre-orders for AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 7900 XTX & RX 7900 XT graphics cards have opened up in China and it looks like custom cards would be just as expensive as NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 line.

All this supply problems with cheaper new models will also help Nvidia to keep up demands for their more expensive 4090. Everything  will be sold out and at very high prices. I'm after a 4090, but it doesn't look promising for me for now.

I just bought a 13900K (SP121 P-Cores /SP88 E-Cores)

Skipping the KS model for sure. I’m impatient, and I am absolutely addicted to good silicon. I wish I could go back to when I could care less about cpu quality.

Dreading next gen. 😂
It will probably be 1P-Core 56 E-Cores lol

I love binning but I've slowed down recently on everything in a way I haven't done in quite some time.

Sold my Z690 Classified sealed

Sold my KPE 3090ti

Sold off a few laptops

Sitting on my 12900k and Strix D4

Prolly sell off a few more things and just sit back and wait

For on the go use, my X170SM-G is down for the count while I wait for a replacement RTX 2080S to be sourced from ZtecPC (one month and counting) so I've adapted and living off my MSI GL66 Pulse. Prolly sell off the X170SM-G at this rate when I get the GPU replaced under warranty.

I'll sit back and enjoy your binning adventures and whatever @Talon buys next. 🙂

Looking forward to seeing the results of a targeted binned purchase versus going 2 for 3 on off the shelf rando luck. It will be fun to see with your setup how this chip does and will put your two winners in proper perspective comparatively.

Careful, Don Jensen would not be pleased to hear that... Listen, you will buy our new carhd, eh? You can buy one carrhd, you can buy two carrhds, it's up to you. We don't care as long as you spend a grrhand, OK? The prices are good, you understand? If you wait, the carrhds won't be so good anymore. Our new 3060 carrhd is for those who waited. All the best for your lovely family from Nvidia Family, we will be back soon.

The first small move from Nvidia? More to come? 20% lower and I’m sold on the 4090. This would be the same as the 25% added tax over U.S price point. Every 5% down is equal $100 here home.

I wouldn't read too much into this, unfortunately. Just a minor adjustment to correct for the recently weaker dollar.

Let's look out for any price cuts in the US. For now it seems that Don Jensen would rather cut throats than prices.

I swear I was thinking of doing this exact thing last night. I play a lot of games, but I think I have more fun messing with CPU’s and memory anyways. And, I could give up some graphics power. I’d end up paying more than the $350 asking for one though. I couldn’t find any in stock.

I tested 3. I got SP99, SP101 and SP106. I gave my brother my SP99. Kept the SP101 and SP106. I'm not bothering with further binning and doubt I'll go KS. I am very happy with any 13900K and memory OC is the META now. Core clocks bring minimal gains for my use case and default is just fine. Memory OC brings much bigger gains. I grabbed a Z790 Apex and 8000 CL36 is now easy. Hoping EVGA gets their shit together and gets a decent BIOS out soon, looking like 2.04 is trash. If they do fix it, I'll rebuild the second rig with the Dark board

Right now I'm sitting on some hardware, but I'm finally selling stuff off again. Thinking about dumping my laptop too since it's not been used in months at this point.

SP106 is a very good chip. I had a feeling your chip was good because you had mentioned a while back that your power draw was less than 300 watts stock during R23. Not many 13900K’s can do this. Of my (4) tested only (1) could do that lol. I know of course we can fix voltage lower and manipulate them to use a lot lower wattage. So when I say stock, I mean like auto voltage/ bios reset and run.

I think most of the chips with SP100 and higher will do this if the P-cores reach +SP110. This if they use adequate cooling. And better SP rated chips than the mentioned above will reach 300W if temps become too high. High temperatures will push the chips above the 300w target in CBR23.

Then you have good binned chips that will use more wattage than average retail chips. Look at Der8auers video of Alder lake. Good binned chips doesn't always mean lower wattage at same clock speed.

Yeah my idea was to list it at a price I'd be willing to sell and just keep using it while it was listed. I was actually playing WoW when I heard the ching ching of fleabay. I love the card (understatement) but I just can't reconcile sitting on a ~$2k card to play WoW and FO76 as much as I'd like to keep it for several reasons (EVGA last KPE, aesthetics, still games like a monster).

True story, I told my wife I sold it while we circle the wagons for the upcoming year and that I would be putting the Strix 3080 back in my desktop. She said, "Awwww, why?" I lit up the aux system with the A770 in it and said, "I'll be putting this one in yours." She immediately said, "Oh **** yes! WoW that is beautiful!"

.....didn't even ask if it could run WoW properly....lol.

I will say this about the A770, it would sing with a block but I would never block it even if I could it looks that good.

In a week we will have a "Runs on Intel ARC GPU" household on 2 out of 3 systems. Who would of thunk it?

Nope. It HAS been awhile but Zoltan let me know they Sager has the 2080S available and they have processed an order to obtain one. Once it is in shop I then send off my X170SM-G. I think I am going to request to not use K5 Pro this time but just the stock thermal pads it will most likely ship with as that K5 is messy.

There is always...ALWAYS a mass influx of early adopters/buyers for all hot new tech. Even AMD 7000 sold out in many places but we see how a few months on prices were cut. Nvidia isn't magical and the demand just isn't there like it was in 2020 especially at those mid tier money grab prices.

@electrosoft is @Talon binning chips too?

Nope, I completely skipped 13900k. First time I've skipped an Intel since 2008. I am on the fence with 13900KS too and will most likely ship that. Just the idea of minor architectural improvements and slapping on 8 more e-cores turned me off this time around along with the ever creeping prices of motherboards.

I'll wait for 14th gen / 7000X3D and see what that brings to the table. if 7000X3D is anything like the uplift 5800X3D brought to the table it is going to be something substantial.

Plus playing WoW and FO76 at 5120x1440 my GPU routinely is pegged at 100% while my CPU never breaks 30% no matter what I'm doing in game. That is even with e-cores off since WoW for some reason keeps drifting onto them and you get this nasty little hiccups.

Five percent is five percent and better than nothing. And nvidia have never been so fast change prices due the exchange in valuta before. And here is more... Medio middle Desember. We'll see

If nvidia have enough 4080 and too little of 4090 they need to make some changes. Whats the point flood retail with more of the 4080 cards if no-one buy them because of the awful disgusting prices?

Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 could get a much-needed price cut soon

I do not wish to dampen any of your enthusiasm due to the anticipated massive Nvidia price cuts, but even with the 5%: I will believe it when I see it. There is nothing in the UK Nvidia store apart from the 3090 Ti still stuck at £1150, and even that is on and off. I don't see them reducing any prices soon. Perhaps this is specific to the Eurozone or something. Don Jensen ain't your Santa, he has a "business" to run.

Put it this way. When scalpers struggling hard sell their 4080 cards, even Jensen should grasp reality that the prices for 4080 is all too high. Nvidia have nothing new to offer outside the 4090. People will rather buy new than 2 years old cards for sub $1000. And AMD can offer this if they is able to increase production of 7000 series cards. How many of the 4090 are nvidia able to throw out to keep up maximum profits? Christmas season is soon here. What do you think Nvidia will do if they can’t offer what the people want? Air and love?😀

The operative word is "should". Some actual pressure from AMD should indeed help, and a lot depends on the Data Centre demand. This could well falter given the situation in tech (although I wouldn't hold my breath just yet). We are also assuming Nvidia is capturing a decent margin on those 4080s and 4090s, but we don't know if that's actually the case.

I hate to influence the market and say how much I paid. But I will say this, the guy was so nice, because he held the chip for (4) days while I dealt with PayPal holding my funds for no reason. During those days other people were continuously messaging him the entire time and offering more money, while I sat here wanting to murder PayPal HQ 😂

It was $50 more than what I sold

my last CPU for.
