oh sorry to hear that man. looking forward to that post!

Right now, it crashes sporadically on startup and the screen is distorted. I have to unplug and plug the DP connector back in and Adrenalin reports it crashed, recovered and all settings have been set back to stock.....problem is it does this even if I don't change any settings.

Adrenalin refuses to frame cap. No matter what I do, it won't cap the frames so start up menus are shooting into the thousands and the coil whine is out of this world. There are also places in FO76 where fps shoot well over 200fps (thank you 13900ks) which can cause timing/control issues with the FO76 engine so I need to be able to cap it for that along with coil whine and the display cap at 144hz. I can tell WoW to cap the frames if needed but 99% of the time it has that 6700xt breathing heavy even at 1080p Ultra settings (IE Ardenweald is in the 80's Ultra settings, RT off).

Clocks keep fluctuating massively from ~2600 down to ~1000 or lower in FO76 simply by where I'm looking and fps plummet from ~100-120 to 60 or lower.  I'm looking into locking the clocks if need be but I shouldn't have to.  In WoW I don't have these problems for the most part. It seems overly sensitive to the load and is under performing.

I get this odd banding/stuttering in WoW.

I don't have any of these problems on Nvidia. It worked perfectly. I had run all these identical scenarios with my daughter's 3070 on the 22" 144hz display with DP before giving it a clean OS install with AMD.

There's also a chance it is the 6700xt card too. I could request a replacement and have access to both at the same time for a few days before sending back one (or both).

I might pull the 6700xt and use an extra NVMe and pop it into my daughter's 12500 system and give it a clean install and see if I can reproduce these issues. I know when I tested the XFX 7900XTX "X gonna give it to YA! Edition" I did not have any of these issues either but that was back in January. It just under performed overall at that time but at least the clocks didn't dip all over the place or sporadic Adrenalin crashes on start up.

I haven't had any issue with my 6950 XT so far. It has worked perfectly. My guess would be your issues are either hardware related, driver related, or a combination of both. Perhaps the driver for that particular GPU just isn't any good.

In any case, you could try using Rivatuner Statistics Server, which comes bundled with MSI Afterburner to limit/cap your framerate.

Ready for more proprietary design? Dell bad? Just wait to see what will come from Asus. This is only the beginning🤮

Demanding DIYers will surely love the idea since it'll help reduce cable clutter.

Asus have started mass production of graphics cards with “special” BTF (Back To Future) hardware design.

Yes, wait for 14th Gen and exploit the opportunity to buy the best used 13900KS you can find for a fraction of the scalper prices silly people originally paid for them. 14900K is a refresh of 13900K/KS with a 200MHz turbo clock bump.

You are correct on that. Buyers are looking to exploit all preowned hardware. It's definitely a buyer's market out there.

For example, I briefly put up for sale, my Asus Zenith II Extreme Alpha, 3960X and 128GB (8 sticks) of G.Skill 3600MT RAM for $2100 (all of that cost me around 3.7K). I had people offer me 1000 or even 800 for everything. I decided to keep it and turn it into a server.

I'll have to play around and see if I can find what's up with the 6900 XT super low 3DMark benchmark scores. It seems to perform normally with anything else so I don't know if it's something that UL/Micro$lop did. And this surfaced a little over a month agoGames play normally and all that, just 3DMark is messed up. I tested on multiple versions of Windows 10/11 as well.

I tried running Speedway the other day and my score was in the 3000s and Firestrike is about 2,500 points lower than normal.

Hmmm. So you don't see the same problems as bro @Mr. Fox? Thats weird because both the 6900 XT and 6950 XT is from same gen AMD Radeon cards.

See bro @Rage Set Probably better late than never. If they have done their due dilligence they would have stopped the sales of all angled adapters after one week with melt hell. If one specific model suddenly melt much more than the others in 99:1 ratio they need to take action. Not 1.5 month after seeing 3-4 adapters turn into smoke every day while cables not. And early adopter program smells damn equal as Guinea pig.

From the screwed....The one thing I didn't try until today was reseating the GPU. In my head this issue came out of no where, and there is no logical reason for it. My GPU and everything was fine, so why would reseating work. But I was running out of options.

It didn't click in my head why it was hard to get out until I looked at the cable. This is a burnt cable right? https://imgur.com/a/1GmwEno

He won't be the only one that never grasp that their custom CM adapters was pure in-house trash with 2 dimple, Not the Astron 3 dimple terminals. But CableMod in their head found out that a re-call was worse than stop selling their adapters. Whats the difference between those options (re-call and stop selling it)? To reduce the damage done? Not so sure about that. The melt hell with the adapters will hunt them months forwards. That will damage the brands reputation more than a simple re-call weeks ago. Stop the sales is only to hide the problem.

Edit. Stupids is still the majority.... And leaks won't be his main problem bro @Mr. Fox

I doub't this will be an good idea. This smells more like aesthetics over real performance improvements. So pretty design over functinality. Same as with the new stupid Asus GPUs without a 8-pin/12VHPWR power connector. New and modern is mostly about pretty, cute and nice aesthetics. Not a real improvement.  So new and or newer doesn't always mean better bro @ryan

Almost everything is better than Jokebooks. And you can still do some upgrade path, so....... Why not? You have to start some places.

So they admitted the adapters have a higher chance of melting. I think someone in CableMod's legal dept needs to tell this guy to shut up at this point, because all he is doing is providing more evidence for a potential lawsuit....yes even if they are repairing all damaged GPUs. I can see someone wanting damages based off loss wage potential and more.

I'll let it rot and collect dust on a shelf in my office rather than sell it for that price. Had he offered that for just the motherboard only I might have considered it.

Hmmm. So you don't see the same problems as bro @Mr. Fox? Thats weird because both the 6900 XT and 6950 XT is from same gen AMD Radeon cards.

I think it was a driver problem. I did a lot of aggressive registry editing after running DDU and manually deleted everything I could find in the registry that made reference to "Radeon" and "6900 XT" and "6950 XT" and reinstalled drivers after rebooting. So, now it functions correctly again. These are basically the same GPU and I don't know why they created a clone of the first. I guess they just needed something with the different name to sell. Some drivers can't tell which one is installed because they seem to only differ in firmware and hardware ID so it gets named "6950 XT Series" which doesn't even make sense. I believe that running DDU between driver installs was not good enough and leaving garbage behind that was causing conflicts. Just a guess on my part, but I don't have any other explanation for it. Seems logical based upon what fixed it.

This was a weird flashback to like 10 or 12 years ago. I remember back then having similar goofiness with drivers not being able to identify whether the GPU was Radeon HD 6970 or HD 6990 and assigning a generic "6900 Series" name in Windows and that caused random glitches in behavior. It was also annoying because when you uploaded your benchmark scores to 3DMark it identified the wrong video card most of the time.

Buggy firmware, drivers and software have always been their primary Achilles heel.

I admit AMD's drivers can be buggy, especially when overclocking a card near its silicon limits. With that said, that 6900XT is technically a 6950XT. Same core, as you know. The software likely saw it as a normal 6900XT and put in those limits.

RTSS has increased latency. It should just be able to cap from the mothership but apparently it has been broken for years compared to Nvidia which just works out of the box.

This Redditor sums up the issue nicely in his frustration

New set of drivers dropped

I'm going to give it a clean install with these and Windows 10 vs 11 just to itch this scratch and see. 🙂

This makes sense considering how powerful the 4090 is compared to every other GPU out there and overall lackluster sales this generation. Even slapping on 3D cache won't save the 7900XTX.

Couple this with ADA-Next not due till 2025 means ride your 4090's for a full two years+ (Well, those of us who bought ours early this year / late last year).

$259 USD for 2x16gb, $279 for 2x24gb. Have not decided on which, and still waiting on MSI for a bios drop 😕

ha, at the current price trends shouldnt take long for that. but beware, the RAM "schweinezyklus" (german for "pig cycle" lulz) will bite you in the butt if you wait too long. recent forecasts show that by end of this year RAM prices will be increasing again!

have u searched for inofficial beta bioses?

my RAM tuning so far: 6400 Mhz, 2133 Mhz IF (2167 provides less performance and 2200 aint stable anymore), CL30 (can go down to CL26, but BSODS right away, CL28 keeps up for about 2 hours in ABSOLUT@anta777 in tm5, bit then starts throwing errors).

now continuing onwards with all subtimings, one by one 😋

i got a good feeling about this, should deffo be more performant than my previous 6600 sticks....once im done with gear 1 ill check and see how far gear 2 can go mwahaha. fun times!

btw, the dimms max out at 50/52C with a 140 mm fan pointed directly at them. thats at 1.6V VDD/VDDQ. once i dialed in all the timings ill follow up with voltage testing, drop it down as far as possible while maintaining stability 🙂

New set of drivers dropped

I'm going to give it a clean install with these and Windows 10 vs 11 just to itch this scratch and see. 🙂

I hope this fixes my Micro$lop Office text rendering problem. Still fighting this nonsense with the 6900 XT. It only seems to affect Word and Outlook, but it is extremely annoying. It is very difficult to concentrate and not feel disoriented when part of the information you entered in an email or a document 1 second ago randomly disappears (becomes invisible) momentarily. Drives me nuts some days when it is really bad. There are other days that it never happens.

That's good news. It will make the ludicrous pricing of the 4090 a little less painful if I can get 2 years out of it before it becomes obsolete.

What is the temperature of the DIMMs when it starts erroring out? It may be thermally induced. I can overclock my memory much higher without error when liquid cooled than I can trying to use a fan blowing on the stock heating blanket trash that memory ships with. The chance of having errors and random BSOD issues is much greater at 45°C and higher. Same was true of DDR4.

The relevancy of memory stress tests like TM5 and MemTest Pro is diminished when errors are occurring due to heat. In real-world utilization you may never encounter any instability issues at all like you do when stressing the crap out your RAM and overheating the modules using a memory stress test. Probably the more reliable way to test is with benchmarks and extended gaming sessions. The memory modules generally do not get nearly as heated up doing things that are normal use scenarios. The load some of these memory stress test produce is not a realistic representation of what would occur in typical use, even the more stressful of the typical use scenarios.

Yep.....Only CM adapters enjoy the <<<<melt heaven>>>>> I wish more proplr listhening on old Papusan
