This is why Prema cancelled the project with XMG.

I don't think it's connected in any way. Previously, BIOSes came out on a Clevo laptops without RAM overclocking functions, and it was OK. Sergey and I are looking for ways to reduce RAM timings or at least slightly raise the frequency above 3200 MHz, but I have an assumption that 3200 MHz could be the limit for SODIMM. If it turns out to overclock, then at best up to 3400 MHz.

The weird thing is that the PCI lines from the processor and the structure of the SODIMM slot completely repeat desktop PCs. It is unclear why a laptop based on the Z590 chipset cannot overclock memory and what problems are associated with it.

@ViktorV I re-padded my laptop today, it gets to 80c core and 98c hotspot during heaven benchmark, however this was on auto-fan. I followed the picture as well. Will give it a day or two just to allow everything to compress pad wise.

CPU however no longer goes to 86c stays stable at 78c now so might need to adjust the pressure on CPU to see if that balances out on GPU.

If temps don't drop though might need your help again.

Is that your CPU temp during Heaven or running another benchmark? What were your GPU temps before the repad?

Temps was 71c on GPU before hand, as for CPU temps that was with 3DMark firestrike and also tested prime95 not together though.

Seeing currently 81c in COD MW2 with max fans over a 1 hour time run where it used to be 71c. But it could be due to pads not compressing much yet.

Might have fixed the issue by swapping the 1.5mm pads on vram to 1mm as after taking the heatsink off there was no contact to the die of the GPU. Now heaven is sitting at sub 60c with full speed fans.

With auto fans it's high 60'c.

Update: had a few rounds of COD MW on auto fan for the first time ever, 67c on core 79.4c hotspot.

Now time to purchase some more Thermal Grizzly Kryo Extreme (pink paste).

My X170 is finally coming tomorrow. There are delays with 144Hz 1080p screens from China and so they upgraded it to a 3K 165Hz monitor free of charge. I'll be using with external monitors anyway but nice of them to do that.

I noticed the X370 has been listed for March shipping under separate branding to the X170 (at least for Metabox). 13900HX and up to 175W 4090 with MUX.

3K screen, you sure it's not 2K?

Supposedly it's a 17.3" QHD (3K) IPS-Grade Edge-to-Edge Matte 165Hz LED - G-Sync 100% SRGB

Metabox Prime-X (X170KM-G) | 17.3" 165Hz G-sync | 11900KF | 32GB DDR4 3200 | RTX 3080 16GB | 1TB 980 Pro

So QHD meaning it's 2K or 1440p. 3K would be 2880x1620.

True. It is a bit contradictory - I just copy pasted what they said. I'll see when it gets here

I decided to check Sager and Xotic pc websites, and Xotic PC has the X370 listed for pre-order as well ("Pre-order- ETA: Mid to Late March as Per Manufacturer.")

4090 listing (up to 150W + 25W)

4080 listing (up to 150W + 25W)

It's here! The display is 1440p. Win 11 Pro installed with StartAllBack to make it usable. I've been through all the driver installs and still have two USB devices that won't start, but unsure what they are as everything appears working. OC was enabled in the BIOS by default, we'll see if I get any crashing.

BIOS: 1.07.08TMB

EC: 1.07.04

If I remember correctly , it is depending also of which CPU ( Intel 10 or 11 ) is used and how many memory slots are populated ( two or four ) .

No problem here with 10th generation, 4 memory slots and overclocking enabled (to enable undervolting and higher all core clocks only).

So it may have to be a combination of overclocking and ccc.

Of course with 10th gen one gains stability but loses one SSD slot - love those brilliant Clevo engineers...

Same for me . Intel 10 and four memory slots . No problems . However overclocking is not enabled . I prefer to " play " safe .

I already post about the problems with Samsung 990 Pro , now it turns out that 980 Pro also have .

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-980-pro-ssd-failures-firmware-update

I apologize if the post is not for here . If it is necessary please transfer it .

Geez what is going on over at Samsung?

I will have to check my drives firmware tomorrow, though supposedly it is mostly 2TB drives that are affected. I wonder if the PM9A1 is also affected?

Quote

So, if you have a 980 Pro running the 3B2QGXA7 firmware, you'll want to update to the newest firmware (5B2QGXA7) using the Samsung SSD Magician software(opens in new tab) ASAP. It should be noted that 980 Pro SSDs running the 4B2QGXA7 or 5B2QGXA7 firmware are not affected by this issue.

Good day to everyone. Tell me please, has anyone tried to put a miniLED screen in our laptop model?

Like Innolux HK173VB-01B. It's much more expensive than usual IPS screens BUT:

  1. 1180 cd/m²
  2. 1.07B   100% NTSC
  3. 12000:1

And seems like it's compatible with eDP1.4 40-pins connectors. I don't have an idea could it work properly on X170KM or not but you can't make an omelet without breaking a couple of eggs. 😁

Hey everyone, finally decided to do some research after a long time and was excited to see the bios was unlocked.

I upgraded my ram a while ago and I've had to deal with it at 2133 for some reason even though all sticks were the same and jdek 3200.

I unlocked my BIOS and enabled overclocking and the XMP setting however when I try to actually enable xmp it shows default or custom. I am unable to actually select an XMP profile. Any help?

It happened to me too, I seem to remember that I solved it by saving, restarting, entering the bios again, and this time you can select the XMP1 profile

Hey all, im hoping i can get some help here.  I have a 170km-g, and i have run into a rather strange issue. i am having some power problems. still trying to lockdown some specifics, but here's what I got so far.

First, the laptop WILL NOT turn on if it is plugged in with both chargers. (keyboard lights up for three seconds and then everything shuts off.)

It will turn on, but only when unplugged, and it still charges from from the ac adapters. so they work.

I did manage at one point to get laptop to turn on when using just ac power. removed the battery. However, haven't been able to repeat that feat since. it now defaults to the first problem.

strangely enough, if I am playing a gpu heavy game, and the battery (still trying to lockdown the actual percentage) is at or below 68% i can plug in both ac adapters and it will not turn off but begin operating as normal. (normal fps boost when plugged in included.)

the other issue i have had in the past, maybe it is related, is that the screen would turn black when adjusting the angle. That is not new and has come and gone. some times weeks past before that issue crops up again, but the battery issue is new.

Anyway, I am wondering if something has affected my bios. i haven't tampered with it at all, but i the only reason i can thing the laptop would shut off and yet stay off in such specific circumstances is if it is getting too much power when not actively playing a game.

However, this issue is beyond my scope. never encountered a problem like it before, and I am hopeful/curious to hear all of your thoughts.

Odd, still can't get it to work out for me. Advanced > overclocking performance menu > Memory correct?
