you know , just thought about the 3080 MXM and i am angry right now because for a moment i wanted to suggest the area-51m but then i remember that dell doesnt use MXM on it ... the i remembered that this laptop was suppose to be the most upgradeable laptop in dell history .... then i compared it to the M18x R1, M18x R2 and the old 18 ....(which is proven to be easily upgradable) and now I AM PISSED from dell to do this to us in the area51m claims ...............

A- lets advertise a product that has upgradability

B- that is not in our benefits because if it is upgradable then we will not sell the next generation laptops and it works against our interest.

A- it doesn't matter , lets just say that

B- but then we will be Sued!

A- it is ok no problem ,let them win the case and the penalty will be a fraction of our profit for the fake advertisement.!!

Cool. Your GPUz screenshot indicates the card as a 6GB but on Xvision they only sell 12GB 3060s. Or don't they?

There is 2 different RTX 3060's on www.x-vsion.com but both have 12GB

Yes I have a programmer, I was thinking of that, I have flashed a few cards and some multiple times, but the last card I flashed was the RTX 4000 maxQ and now it is dead. Nvidia put a block on flashing since RTX but the nvflashk works around the block. IDK about AMD. If the card doesn't work in the M6700 then I would try to flash it.

If you need a new bios chip I can get one for ya and resolder it might not be dead dead.

On another note. @ssj92 notified me on this topic. I am skeptical because him and I both have tried A4500 and the xvis 3080 I have the later and I couldn't get it to post. On that note it did get voltage and was warm to touch about it. So I'm not sure about this just yet.

Any updates on the RTX 3080?

Alternative: Peladn RTX 3080M ?

Edit: What about the MXM Type A RTX 4060, would that work for us or RTX 5000M Ada?

Hi, question. Did you do basic INF mod or was there special driver mod needed?

Can I download any driver from nvidia site and modify INF to make it work?

I tried 4060m, but couldn't detect the device
It should be due to motherboard BIOS incompatibility
I don't know if there are any new cracked BIOS that can support the 4 series. I think it's probably a compatibility issue with UEFI

The device cannot be detected using the official website's driver, so installation is not possible
It should be that INF does not correspond to the device,

Alienware M17x,18x.. has been a product for a long time, and the original factory did not add an ID to the device for the new graphics card

Hi. I'm gonna try RTX A3000 12GB MXM soon on my Alienware 18 R1, seller said it works on M18X R2. So it should theoretically work on AW 18. The TDP is 110W.

Seller also told me that the 4050/4060 won't work because of motherboard's BIOS. It could either be ReBar and the interface you've mentioned.

Also does the RTX 3080 from X-VSION work with M18X R2? Seller told me yes.

AW 18 => Which model are you currently using? Do you have any GPU-Z for me to see

Which version of the 3080 you have?

130W TDP? 150W TDP?

Do you know how to edit VBIOS TDP? My RTX A3000 does only 60W instead of 130W. (VBIOS dump tells me it's a 60W max TDP)

Have you tried adding ReBar to M18xR2 BIOS?

It's a module. If you have a programmer and backup of BIOS I can try making custom BIOS with this.

Then you can test newer GPUs in the system.
