I'll not run it on Alienware. It'll go on Clevo p570, had no issues with 4080 115W power limited thru Nvidia inspector.

The 4090 I got is a 115W one and doesn't have any capacitors lying around the x-bracket's zone.

The 4070 I have, doesn't have eDP. It doesn't work on M17X R4 and Clevo P570wm eDP displays. 4080/4090 have the connector present on the Nvidia control panel but they don't have eDP.

Have you actually tried to run 4080/4090 though? Each gpu is different and vbios is different. a vbios alone makes the difference of gpu working or not.

I tried Aetina GTX 1080 in P570WM but it was too long. I'm running 880M right now and have a P4200 that needs bios chip soldered to use that.

I think M17xR4 needs DP_C to be eDP not DP_D. This is why it's not working (speculations of course)

4070 is probably DP_D. What about the HP 8770W/8570W/Zbook G2 at? Are they DP_C too?

I tried the 4080 too on my Clevo eDP, it didn't work for the internal display. On Alienware it does the 8 beeps

I don't know about HP.

You can also try 4090 in P570WM. There's a extra vbios uploaded here (150w) model that you can try on your 4090 too to see if it boots.

Bios from ZRT? I'll receive the 4090 X-Vsion in a week. Are the DP_ from the VBIOS or are they hardcoded to the hardware ?

It;s a mix of the two. Normally vbios alone can change the output.

I hope everything works, I'm interested in ordering one of the 4090's also. I'll have a 3080 on the way hopefully in a few days.

I actually learnt that my laptop does eDP on DP_D.

For the 4070, the seller told me it has eDP. Didn't specify which port, so I assume DP_D and it doesn't work! I tried different VBIOSes but the results are the same.

I think the 4070 doesn't have physical capabilities to do eDP!

I'm using a custom heatsink bought from eBay since the core was offset. That plus custom drivers is all that's needed.

I assume I bought the same heatsink off ebay. Did you use the standard x bracket or source a different one? The x bracket I have with the original 100w Nvidia heatsink will need to be modified where it's a different offset with the 3080. Shouldn't be hard to do that, but just making sure. I think I have everything to fully upgrade my M18X R2 this weekend. It's going from entry level 3610QM and 660M to 3920XM and 3080.

I use x-bracket from 680m I think or some 100w nvidia card.

All upgrades installed, 3080 is up and running. I've never done custom drivers or unlocked bios, so I appreciate all the info you guys put on here. I've built dozens of desktops and practically built this M18X at this point. I swapped everything over, the motherboard and all to a nebula red case and upgraded everything in it. 🤙

Good job. Best is to use nvcleanstall which does clean inf mod with all customs options that you need (telemetry, trackers off, optimus...). It's pretty straightforward

Actualy in AW17x r4 scheme is eDP connected to DP_D output on mxm conn ,as is on ZRT4080/90 datasheet. what i see. If eDP out not working  must be other problem there i think.
