@jaybee83 By chance do you have any high resolution photos of the backside? I was curious if the Parade PS8461 Mux IC was physically present on the NJ55JNNQ board as it would mean there is a chance may enable it in a future firmware update. It would probably be on the backside opposite the eDP connector.

Thanks for the photo. Sadly I don't see anything that fits the description there. The PS8461 is a 66 pin 5mmx10mm IC. They may be using a different IC than the BGA model from last year, but its hard to read those part number printed on the IC without perfect lighting and a very good macro lens. Even Clevo's own service manual photos are generally blurry. If only they would release the service manual for the NH55. It is already 3+ months after launch.

ill keep an eye out for the service manual, as well. it usually takes a while until it "leaks" out, since its not intended to be available to the peasants = consumers 😋

btw got some promising preliminary results in for the copper IHS upgrade, the 10 min CB23 stress test resulted in almost 10% higher average clocks (+340 Mhz) at roughly identical temps and wattages. core temp spread was also reduced from max. 6C to now just 4C between hottest and coolest running core. not bad considering were talking about a locked cpu at identical settings!

will run the full set of benches i did for the initial baseline and then follow up with posting more detailed results.

Eurocom said they would give me the service manual if they had it. Although it may not be produced as quickly if this model isn't carried by the majority of Clevo resellers.

The results sound great. I ordered the kit to relid my 12900k as well.

reaaaaaally curious what thatll do to the 12900k performance in this machine 😁👌🏼

im now hoping that we can get some undervolting and RAM tuning action going to push this machine a bit further. as for the gpu, not sure how much we can get out of it considering that ill likely need a bigger psu at that point. are there are 280/330W psus around with the NH55 barrel power connector? i saw that Eurocom actually offers more powerful psu options, hmmm....

Yeah I am actually annoyed that I was not even upsold on the 280W power brick, given that I had ordered the 12900 and 3070ti config from them. The notebookcheck review had that brick and it was pulling above 230W IIRC!

i do have a wattmeter but so far ive only looked at hwinfo data and during gpu intensive runs the 230w total system power limit is actually breached. sure, wattmeter might show slightly different numbers but shouldnt be too far off i guess, so not much tweaking room left for the gpu on the 230W stock psu.

@win32asmguy ill have another look at the NBC review to check the model number of the psu. might be worrh getting it aftermarket...

So about these fans, are there quieter replacements or is that just wishful thinking?

i actually just set a linear custom fan curve and the machine stays super quiet, no worries on that front. and whenever full perf under heavy load is required i switch to full blast Fn+1. for my lady the latter is never really necessary, so shes a happy camper 🙂

for info: i set the fans to only start ramping up at 60C and above, then did a linear curve from 60 to 100C going from 34 to 100% fan speed. so the middle set point between the two ends resulted in 80C with 67% fan speed 😋

Working pretty good. This is on Quiet or Performance?

i always leave the profile on performance and then tweak from there via TS, win profile editor, etc.

hey guys, greetz from my vacay in greece 😄

i found the part number for the 280W brick, in case anyone is interested: Chicony A18-280P1A

Since i dont have the machine with me right now, could anyone check the outer diameter of the power plug facing the laptop? @win32asmguy@GT3000 that chicony psu comes in three different flavours, two of which are round barrel type. one is 7.4x5.0 mm outer/inner, the other is 5.5x2.5 mm outer/inner.

the NBC review of the raptor x15 actually shows a peak consumption at 260W so im hopeful that connecting the 280W psu will allow the system to draw more power. max ive seen so far was exactly at the 230W limit of the stock psu.

in any case, ive already found several different sites where this psu can be sourced from, with prices ranging 100-135€.

Just eyeballed mine with a measuring tape (this is the 230W A17-230P1A) and looks like it's the 2.5mm/5.5mm barrel plug without a pin inside.

Got my Rockitcool delid kit in, have a quick question: Is there a shelf life on liquid metal compound? I have some Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra I purchased in 2017 (for delidding a 6700K in the Tornado F5, that brings back some memories). I can use it for the relid if its good and still considered effective. Or if it would be better I could get some Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut from Micro Center over the weekend.

Or if it would be better I could get some Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut from Micro Center over the weekend.

not that im aware of @shelf life. im still using the gallinstan ive purchased on ebay in 2017 🙂 dont see a reason why it should be any different with clu or conductonaut...

looking forward to ur results!

As long as it was sealed and no air leaked in consistently it should be ok. If it appears excessively runny and grainy it may have degraded as I had that happen with an older tube of CLU a few years ago and the results were subpar. I ended up getting a fresh tube of silver king lm and it was night and day.

Alright. Got my new keyboard in (ended up costing me about 50 USD off ebay/aliexpress), keyboard skin 2-3 USD each, and a new laptop skin. That was about 15 USD. I'll install the skin tomorrow or this weekend. Looking forward to having this all wrapped up to help preserve the finish. Feels good to be able to type properly. I'll just keep the old keyboard as a spare.

Well it looks my delid is postponed a bit. Ended up picking up a high binned SP104 P-core, SP81 e-core from eBay in hopes it is a bit better than the my 12900k from Newegg and can close the gap with performance I saw on the Strix Scar 17 SE with 12950HX.

Nice! Hopefully it will extend your X15 even further! If it is the one I think I saw it is already delidded too right? Knock out two birds with one stone (Delidded and binned).
