I know you’re from Germany. Yes I have a fully functional P775TM for sale. I can als sell it as Barebone without CPU, GPU…

Yes let me see tomorrow with the i3 8100 if the Mainboard works or not and try and test the i9900k on another pc.

In this area, the legs are still covered with thermal paste, there may be poor contact with the processor nickels. Also check the contact pad of the processor, it may also be contaminated with thermal paste.

Yes i saw that as well but i think its from the last application there last year so it worked until now like this. But i will take a contact spray and clean that when i mount the test cpu

Reprogramming doesn’t help you. I did it many times like I posted in my thread. A technician where I sent it to, couldn’t fix it without spending many hours to locate the bricked component. It could be many things.

Do you have another video card to check? And one stick of RAM that is not from your kit will not hurt. Have you tried to put different sticks of RAM one at a time?

It's just that if your motherboard died completely, then the behavior would be completely different, and you have a reaction to the power button and an attempt to initialize the system, but at some point there is a transition to emergency mode, and it is very likely that some of the components do not receive an answer about condition or temperature. This may well be a faulty RAM or video card.

Yeah i tried all the Ram sticks one by one, so i  think they are good. The rtx i cannot try it in another system sadly but i think its ok aswell. Why i think the Motherboard is faulty is because of the first thing that happend was that one of the SSD Sata ports was not working anymore. That was the first symptome it showed..

Maybe the chipset died/malfunctioned?

That's the first thing that comes to my mind, because of the SSD failure. It's controlled by the chipset.

I assume on normal Z370 motherboards the chipset is cooled with proper heatsink, but on the P775 it's cooled using a 4mm thermal pad against the metal chassis which is kind of a joke and not actual cooling.

Both of you with your failed machines have me getting very anxious about my P775TM1-G 😬😬😬

Found a firm that's doing clevo repairs among other laptops. They say they will look into it and try to repaie the motherboard. So one more chance to repair it. If it fails ill sell the rest of the components and go desktop route early as planned.

How many does it cost?

Around 220 with transport, if the repair is successful. If not then only around 30-and 40 euros. Well see, ill keep you posted on the progress. Will take around 3 weeks though.. Until then working and playing cloud games with gamepass😅 on the i3 8100 office pc or the tab s7+

  • 1 month later...

So the laptop is back from repair shop, sadly unrepaired...they did repair the cpu socket pins but the problem is still there.

I just want to try and reflash the bios with a programmer to check this aswell, but i didnt do it until now so i am a total noob there. Right now on it it the latest bios from clevo and latest ec. 1.07.29.

So can one explain in baby steps and with pictures what do i need to do :D. And of course what programmer should i buy.

Or can i try directly from a usb stick?

BIOS:
Format the flash drive via Rufus in FreeDOS, and upload the contents of the archive to the root of the flash drive
 #

1) Boot into the BIOS, in the Security section, disable Secure Boot (disabled by default)
2) Boot from a flash drive in UEFI mode, enter the meset command (the fans will work at 100% and the laptop will reboot)
3) Boot from the flash drive again, enter the fpt -d backup.bin command to save the current BIOS to backup.bin
4) Enter the command fpt -f the name of your BIOS.bin -rewrite -y wait for the end of the process (erasing, flashing, verification) and enter the fpt -greset command (the laptop will reboot with clearing CMOS)
5) To roll back to the previous BIOS, repeat steps 2 and 4, changing the command to fpt -f backup.bin -rewrite -y

You will most likely need a programmer, since in order to flash the BIOS from a USB flash drive, you need a workable laptop. This CH341A programmer from your link will work just fine.

If you need help with the details of the BIOS firmware, then ask, I will help as far as possible.

How is the laptop behaving now?

If there is such a programmer EZP2019 + USB SPI Programmierer for sale near you, then it’s better to take this one, it’s better

Thanks, but i just talked with the repair shop and they also did a bios flash with the programmer with no luck so it looks like the mainboard is fried.. 😑.

So i think this is it for the laptop, cannot find a cheap replacement so probably ill sell the working components..

Oh my god. That’s what they did? Bios reflashing and pin rapiring? Stupid guys. I told you before that it’s not a Bios issue. It could be many but not a Bios or a pin issue. Did they check that all voltages are correct?
