Twitter is removing the "government-funded" labels from NPR/PBS/BBC ... and it is removing the labels from propaganda outlets like RT in Russia and Xinhua in China as well.  The page that used to explain these labels is also gone.

 

Also, now that "legacy" verified blue checkmarks are being discontinued and removed, Elon Musk is giving out blue checkmarks to some celebrities who didn't want to pay for them...  (Wasn't the whole point of this new system to supposedly level out the playing field for everyone?)

Twitter policy states that logging in once every 30 days should be good enough to keep your account (presumably, regardless of whether or not you post).  ...I've had my account for 12+ years and it has 0 tweets.

I am calling BS in their policy, just wanted to entice people to interact with the platform. They have no real incentive to delete real user accounts. 

In theory they should be identifying and deleting multi-accounts and bots, but again, not clear they want to do that. Content is content, and free speech for bots too (might want to stay on their good side before Starship is ready for the ultimately hopeless evacuation of the select few to Mars). 

 

BTW I'm abandoning the use of "likes", upon the somehow only recent realisation that it's one of the key tools social media use to promote unhealthy user dependence on the platform.

Musk is staying on, "overseeing product, software & sysops", so I wonder how much will really change...

I am legitimately curious what Linda Yaccarino saw in that job opening.  Like, what is the potential upside in applying for, let alone accepting, that position?  Elon is a famously difficult boss, and Twitter has well-publicized problems.  Sure, if she can lead Twitter to success, it'll be a great accomplishment, but what makes someone think, "CEO of Twitter under Elon Musk is the job I was made for"?

 

On the plus side she can hardly do worse than her immediate predecessor, Elon Musk... but that's probably not the criteria for success.

Twitter was pretty universally acknowledged as worse than YouTube comments.

thats strange I heard twitter was worth over 60 billion dollars. so your saying a company that grows from a few thousand dollars into billions and billions is actually doing something wrong? how big is your company?

The way this worked I imagine is the new Twitter CEO checked with Elon and they decided to lock guests out of the platform for some reason (clearly, they are hoping to force people to log in more, and believe this will have some benefits that outweigh the loss of traffic).

If it doesn't work out, Elon will complain about not being able to do everything himself properly and fire the CEO person; if it does work out Elon will be going around saying he hired the smartest person possible as Twitter CEO lol

I didnt speak to Twitters Financial worth at all. If you want to go that route, youtube, not the parent company is around 180 Billion in 2022

Twitter wants to sue Meta because of intellectual property now. They are in damage control. The same intellectual they fired when musk came😂😂😂🤣🤣.
