Twitter users are no longer allowed to post links to rival platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Mastodon, Truth Social, ...), or reveal their handles to other platforms in their Twitter bio or tweets.

Musk also says that they're going to tweak the policy above blocking links to Facebook, etc.; they will only do suspensions when the account's "primary purpose" is promotion of a competitor.

I haven't been following the Tesla side but it looks like he's under pressure to move back over there (at least if he wants to keep his CEO title), so this poll might be the perfect excuse for him to get out...

He was just spotted chatting with Jared Kushner. Wonder if all pretence will soon be abandoned as he just hands the platform over to Trump&Co. All according to the will of the people (bots/trolls) of course - the decision has already been made, and the new CEO has already been chosen.

Twitter has been profitable before (which makes me seriously question Musk pitching his deep cost cutting as "necessary").  Of course, all of the advertisers that have been leaving the platform probably aren't making things look good for this year and next...  Since Twitter is private now, we might not even get to see good numbers.

 

 

Oh, plus Twitter owes $1 billion per year in interest payments now, that'll surely eat in to any sort of profit they manage to generate...

Right, some cuts were definitely necessitated by the takeover, in order to cover the extra financing cost - a common theme with LBOs.

He cut what? 4-5k people? I guess that works out in the ballpark of $1B in annual compensation.

hes rich because hes smart. driven. hes a nice guy judging from all the interviews. why all the hate. people in general need to relax and accept the fact they will never be as smart or as rich as elon and if they are going to hate anyone they should hate themselves? LOL

Nobody is questioning his intellect or drive here, it's more about the ethics (all the more important given his wealth and thus power). The two are not necessarily positively correlated. As for the nice guy interview persona, clearly that's fake, just ask all the people he summarily dismissed at Twitter and elsewhere.

 

BTW You should also learn to discern the not-so-subtle difference between a bit of a forum banter aimed at a celebrity and hating, or generally obtuse personal attacks against other members.

Like I posted above in the thread somewhere.  I have watched interviews and I used to have a high opinion of this guy.  His recent actions speak for themselves, though.

I dont really see any difference in twitter, pre or post sale. Perhaps the flavor changed but its still ground zero for Adults and children to go and whine about w/e seems to be trending in the moment.

For a moment there it was impossible to browse without logging in, looking better now, although the nagging is real (I'm pretty sure there was none before). I don't use it for any purpose although I know others that do, e.g. to share some business-related piece of info. Seems like it has become mostly a political tool a while back.

I normally don't even load that site on my devices. The rare exception being on pc to see what Prema is up to. Too many people complaining about frivolous subject matter that require nuance answers to which Twitter is I'll equipped to properly convey. 

 

Regarding Elon, while I understand why some may deify him, he's just another human, flaws and all. Criticize what should be criticized and praise what should be praised. Best approach imho

You may be giving them too much credit for sense of humour. The other "predictions" were most likely crude propaganda aimed at propping up the spirits among internal audience. For us those were idiotically funny, but I am certain they were taken literally or as "best case scenarios" by many at home. As for the Musk prediction (obviously stupid, as he was not born a US citizen): given that - despite the absurdity -  Russia would definitely love to see the other predictions become reality, it seems like they are liking him, probably due to all the support for the right-wing in the US (which Russia in turn strongly supports on both sides of the pond, all the while calling Ukrainians "the Nazis"...).

 

Apparently, Musk tried to row back from the "Epic thread" comment by claiming it was sarcasm due Medvedev not having taken the recent progress in AI into account. I guess he was trying to turn this into a bit of a banter, so best case scenario here is Elon and Putin's henchman having a bid of laugh together on Twitter. Yeah, absolutely epic.

to be fair, the wording indicates that hes putting out those "predictions" with a tongue-in-cheek mannerism.
