I have installed a new 512GB M.2 SSD. We’ll see what happens. I wish that was all it was. It’s interesting because I can run Ycruncher full ram usage and the system just chugs right though. I ran it over 90 minutes last night. -

Quick update! The issue still persists! Things I have tried. (1) Two different GPU’s (2) Pulling ram cleaning and reinstalling 1 stick only. (3) Removing CPU, checking pins, cleaning contact surfaces and remounting CPU all torqued to spec at 12in lbs in correct sequence! (4) unplugging everything and plugging everything back in to motherboard. (5) A different 12vhpwr plug (6) A different PSU all together . (7) Different bios on my motherboard. (8) Reinstalled windows 11 (8) moved M.2 to a different location. (9) Tried different PCIe slots (10) tried running only x8 PCIe speeds (11) Tried adding unrealistic CPU and ram voltages at stock speeds or reduced clocks. PC is completely freezing I can still see the picture. It completely HARD locks. Things I have NOT tried yet. (1) Using a different M.2. Maybe my 2TB M.2 is failing? It has fairly low health left something like 75%. (2) Different motherboard. Maybe my Dominus Extreme is failing? (3) Trying a new CPU. Maybe my Xeon W3175X is failing? I am at a loss. It sure does look cool though lol!!! -

Would be awesome if running two RTX 5080’s was useful for something. 😂 They really match so perfectly together!! Maybe there is a benefit? Or a waste. -

Yes! Very very hard to buy a 5090. That guilt is STRONG after buying one too. Today’s prices are nuts. 5080 is a value and gets the job done!! Gone are the days of high end affordable GPU’s. It’s a rich man’s club now. EDIT: So happy I found the issue! When that 2nd brand new Zotac RTX 5080 locked my PC up, I was concerned and relieved at the same time. Relieved that the RTX 5080 was not defective. But also worried what the issue could be. The bad cable was ran daily on a shunt modded 5090FE, so it must have took the cable out I guess. What’s weird though, is I had no issues running the 5090FE up until the day I pulled it from the system. So I think maybe it sitting it just degraded? It’s so weird. I’m going to do some testing now and see which is the best GPU! I would prefer a low voltage low power queen if I had to pick. I don’t know what all the fuss or hate about Zotac is either. Both of these cards are built incredibly well. I had a Gigabyte 4090 Gaming OC, and that thing felt like a Dollar General toy lol. 😂 these cards feel nice and look very high quality. -

IT WAS THE CABLE!! I think my 5090 did it in lol. Swapped the 12vhpwr. No crashing!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩 -

I am trying a different PSU cable to see if that helps, so far it’s a 6/20 loops in Steel Nomad 🙏. Previous cable was a Lian Li 12vhpwr to 12vhpwr. Now I’m trying a 2x8pin to 12vhpwr. If this fails I will try another PSU. I cleaned the PCIe slots with MAF automotive cleaner. It’s great! It leaves behind zero residues unlike how alcohol can. I pulled all (12) ram sticks and cleaned those as well. I’m thinking CPU socket pins could be suspect as well if a new PSU+cable doesn’t resolve the issue. Maybe the shunt modded 5090 was just too hard on the little 1200 unit or its cable…😂 Would be curious to just test both cards and see which is the best!!! -

Just an update. I have another issue going on with my computer.. Both 5080’s crash and lock up my PC. Yes I bought a brand new one from Newegg lol. (Now I have two) I am not sure what it could be. My system was perfectly fine when I unplugged my 5090 at the very end of 02/2026. Now here I am in 05/2026 and it’s locking up after 5 minutes of rendering anything 3D. I have two functional 5080’s it seems. Maybe bad PSU? I have ran R24 and Ycruncher and those run fine . -

Nah man, I got the full brunt on this one. I bought it on Face Book market place, did some very quick sessions with it like running a game for all of 1-2 minutes, ran a single steel nomad benchmark lol. And works fine in 2D applications and will run however long you need in 2D, but under 3D load it is locking up the PC after 5-10 minutes or the 2nd Steel nomad pass lol, I have tried all sorts of things and it just won’t let you game more than about 10 minutes. I tried my son’s GPU in my system, and that works just fine. No locking up. But, did not try this 5080 in his system. I suppose there is no point in that now. I am 100% certain the GPU is defective. -

I think my 5080 is defective. Been trying to play some games longer than a couple minutes. And it just hard locks my entire PC up after about 10 minutes of playing. Tried different drivers, reseating the GPU in a different slot, tried DDU. Nothing helps. I have completely reset my PC bios to all stock settings. I Flashed the 5080 back to its original bios, no difference at all. Same crashing no matter the game. 3Dmark stress test fails at 0.00% every time. -

Yeah 5090 is certainly fast in Forza, that’s really good though. But man +60% for triple the cost. I’m thinking 1K 5080. VS. 3K 5090. AI has pushed these things to crazy price tags. We got to beg to pay 3K cash for one on FB Market place lol. -

I sold the shunted 5090FE and the EKWB waterblock only for $2,350 on overlock.net. Just wanted to get my money back out of it. I actually still have the FE air cooler and FE box. I kept those so new potential owners couldn’t turn around and scalp the card on eBay or somewhere else. 😂 The 5090FE is still shunted and someone is still running it as far as I know. -

@Mr. Fox and @electrosoft I almost sent the money for that scammer 5090 Astral. I had talked to the guy on the phone and he made me feel super comfortable. It’s crazy to even say that lol. But I held back waiting for proof of ownership. And once I saw the pic, I knew something was seriously wrong. Also, I asked chatGPT if the photo was found anywhere online or if the photo was even real. (The floating paper pic lol) ChatGPT said “This is a real photo” 😂😂😂 this didn’t help. Anyways, I ended up getting a Zotac Solid OC 5080 for 1K cash locally just a few hours ago. 5090’s are just wayyy too extreme price wise for me. My system was setup for a water cooled GPU, so I just threw a D5 pump and top in there to allow water to pass through. Flow rate is EXTREME with (5) D5’s and no GPU 😂 online image resizer with hosting I also sold my laptop! I came up with this idea on Saturday to sell it and help fund a 5090 and alleviate the extreme blow for such an extraordinary expensive item. So I listed it for $1,500 bucks. Selling my laptop put me in a really really good position to buy a 5090 now, but even then, I couldn’t grasp the idea of doing it. Then my wife caught wind of me messaging people on FB Market place and making offers. And that idea of dropping 3K was all over with at that point. 😭 Anyways. Gaming on a laptop just isn’t for me. I don’t like the power limits, and the thermal limits. I really love the idea of a laptop. But when it actually comes down to it. It’s just really kinda lame. It worked fine for working from for about 3 months. Update: This Zotac 5080 is insane how well it undervolts. I tried the Gigabyte 5080 Master bios(Does not work drivers won’t load) then flashed the Zotac Extreme bios (This worked great) card maxed out of 1060-1065mv voltage. I am running 2,955@0.895mv. SUB 200 watts in games. It is pretty astounding how well it’s undervolting. Lots of fun 🤩 abnormally efficient GPU that’s for sure. This is roughly a +400 offset, it has some more room I think. Hope you are feeling okay @Papusan have a great night everyone! -

Hey fellas. Yeah I’m just burned out on just barely gett’n by is all. I’m 35 years old now been contemplating life a lot lately, me and my wife both work full time from home, life is good in the new house. Bills are paid, but that’s it lol. Things are getting really expensive lately like (Daughters new braces 😬) kids will need cars in a 2-3 years (I’m broke). I need to do something on the side and make some major moves. About ten years ago I use to buy and sale junk cars, this was extremely lucrative. There were times when making $2,500 on a good day wasn’t impossible. I have been complacent and living on auto pilot for several years now doing the minimum.. The 5090 had to go though, I needed the funds to help fund a truck+car trailer+winch. In this case, not a truck but close, I bought a clean and well kept used Tahoe Z71 4x4. Lately I learned that we got to step outside of that comfort zone and take some risks in order to gain something or see change. If nothing changes, nothing changes. Life is hard, none of us make it out alive. 😂 -

Someone used the wrong screw and drilled through the card @Mr. Fox lol what the heck. People are something else man. I’ve had mine apart like 4 times now. You would have none of these issues though. That’s not a screw that would be included with it either. All the screws in that section do not look like that at all, and they all match. -

That’s great, yeah I’m genuinely amazed that just (2) 480’s is so powerful. It’s easily better than my previous External Alphacool 1080x45 rad. I’m wondering about adding another though in the future, but the only way to add another would be to introduce warm air in to the case. And I never like doing that. Currently I’m setup with (1st) 480mm GTX rad in the basement (Air passes through the bottom sides of the case) the 2nd 480mm GTX rad is in the top roof portion of the case, so it exhausts warm air out of the case. So my case stays incredibly cool inside. If I added to the front= Warm air inside case. if I added to the floor below the 5090 warm also blows inside. -

That’s really funny! Hopefully the video is useful as it covers everything I learned with LGA1700 and DDR5 overclocking. For 8800 Gear 2, I would probably use a 40-54-54-54 as an easy starting point, and 32k tREFI. Those rams were on chilled water and 262k tREFI is heavy with heat and also very temp sensitive so it’s a double edged sword, and 1.620v VDD/VDDQ is also kinda heavy with heat. 😂 it actually didn’t need that much, and I was able to dial it back. But that was its first boot, and just typed in something crazy and it seemed to just scoff at it, which was why I made the video. I’m really unfamiliar with Z890 IMC strength. But very curious to try the platform out with maybe something cheaper like a 245/265k. -

So what’s the issue with the actual board though? Performance wise I just wish I could do is flash my bios. The bios holds me back. And it’s not all that much. I could care less if the board was 40 pieces lol. It’s a 5090. It performs. -

Is that the same thing as when you minimize a game and it has to regain signal?, and it’s not an immediate response? It was like that with 4080/4090’s that couldn’t handle it. Every-time I would press the windows button in a game, the monitor would go black and have to regain signal again then It would finally reveal the desktop. Fortunately they fixed it with the 5090! Pressing windows button is immediate. My 3090 didn’t have the issue either. It was a pain with 4000 gen. PS: Last week I refreshed my GPU’s pads and TIM, re-surfaced the block real nice! -

They are probably burned out with all the Chinese compliant models released. We already had (3) RTX PRO 6000’s in the USA. I’m probably missing one. RTX PRO 6000D RTX Pro 5000 72GB RTX 5090D RTX 5090D V2 I tell you something very interesting and cool, and I wish AMD would properly optimize it. I think if game developers were on board too, it could be great! -

I wonder what that would be like with a 5090! I hear it’s great for older GPU’s giving more power when needed, but I always hear DLSS4 is far superior. But I have never tried lossless scaling. I remember when I first upgraded from a 3090 to a 4080S, and was just blown away by how great FG was. I typically just run 2x FG my self.
