Game is pure gorgeous! I was not expecting much but I’m giving it a chance. Yeah my 4080S probably can’t handle the Unobtanium setting, but I have not tried it yet either. What’s your 4090 frame rate like at 4K Unobtanium and DLSS3+FG? -

Thank you! And I hope the same for you and yours, and of course all the kind souls on here too. I’m looking forward to home ownership though. Anyways, I’m a little jealous over that waterblock. I’ll order one next, once I secure a different 4080 Super. @Talon I finally subscribed and paid the $5.00 USD to that PureDark modder guy. I’m actually playing the new Pandora game right now completely maxed out with DLSS3 mod and FG enabled. How cool this is to finally be able to use such tech! I went from 4K@57 fps, to 4K@83 fps. THIS GAME IS BEAUTIFUL! I was able to play for free with my Ubisoft subscription, they also have Skull N’ Bones beta available to play as well. Maybe worth a look. -

Thats really good advice. The double wide we live in now just wasn’t maintained properly is all. It has needed a roof 10+ years ago, so once that goes the rest of the home becomes poorly inefficient and kinda soft and it’s all downhill from there, then you got a wobbly box, and that goes for any home. Maintenance is key. And this place is a bit beyond that. But we weighed our options as best as we could from building a house, buying a house already built, or going with a manufactured land/home package. So we went with the 3rd option. We actually just ordered our own custom spec double wide last week 4BR/2BA 1700Sqft. We were set on one main feature and that was having sheet rock interior throughout with real wood trim etc, which really makes it feel like more of a house inside. We purchased 1 acre of land in the middle of no where essentially, which is where our new home will go, it has access to 1Gbit internet which was the main requirement. Complete woods behind me for shooting guns, or even just peeing on a tree, etc 🤣 I’ll have my own play room like @Mr. Fox does. And maybe down the road I’ll do the two computer thing. 1 for work, 1 for play lol. -

Yeah the 4090 idea was just a thought of hmmmm 🤨 🧐 “Evil laughter moment” after returning the 4080 Super, and getting the opportunity to spin the wheel again lol. I recouped some and saved and budgeted the rest to be able to buy the 4080 Super so it wouldn’t affect me financially, so I’m not spending money on credit cards etc, or pulling from our main savings account, I can afford to own and keep a 4080 Super 🙂. It’s really just the simple fact that I really hate the card I originally bought on launch day, and I think I was trying to make my self love it and make do lol. If it was my mind set just a few years ago I’d be stacking the remainder 4090 balance on a credit card 😆 Once Newegg refunds me, I’m just gonna order a Suprim X 4080 Super. Thats more inline with what I’m after. Big effective air cooler, waterblock options available, free mouse pad, I need a new one anyways. I’m really looking forward to moving most of all though, I’m going to have my own office in a new home on my own land which is something I’ve been wanting since starting the “Work at home” thing in 2020. Me and my wife have been working hard for this for years now. We have been renting the same place for like 7 years now, which is a partially remodeled double wide home that was originally built in 1986. But it barely has air conditioning, slow leaking roof, mold growing in some of the closets anytime we have our landlords fix something they increase our rent. In my state they can continue increasing rent with no limit for no reason. So we’ve been more or less working towards saving money and building up our finances so we can buy a new home which is pretty costly in 2024 with how expensive things are. But it’s all good, I’m prepared for that. -

See, that’s what I want to experience. Massive silly air cooler that works good, that’s what I was expecting to experience anyways but I’m just not feeling all that. This current GPU does around 63-64C stock auto fan speeds. Thats about 275-300 watts. And 1300 RPM fan speeds. -

Yep absolutely. Honestly, I don’t need no 4090 lol. I’m just not happy with my MSI Expert which is what is sparking all of this lol. I’m gonna be realistic though and stick with 4080 Super and stick within my budget 😎I just want a different AIB than this one. This one is very disappointing because no waterblocks available, and even if I did keep it on stock air, it runs warmer than a 4080 Super FE which is $150 cheaper. -

Yeah it’s really a money thing though. No time for splurging right now since we are buying a house lol. Me and my wife must have our down payment sit in the bank untouched and an additional 2 months living wages sitting in the bank as well on top of that. All while we inch towards our closing day on our new home. The worst thing is these random expenses popping up that are not covered by our home loan. So far we’ve spent about $3500 on random items. Septic permit, special use permit for land, home appraisal, earnest money towards our land. Any extra money for a more expensive GPU must be actually legit saved with time and not just removed or my wife would disown me 😂lol. But I’d be totally happy with Suprim X 4080 Super. So I might just go that route. And make do. Im putting away a few hundred this pay period, and I’m already returning my 4080 Super. I’m gonna see how optimistic or motivated I feel about stepping to the xx90 level when I have the return funds back😀. -

You know, since I’m returning this 4080 Super anyways, it has got me kinda thinking lol. I could save a little more and get a 4090 lol. -

When I got this 4080 Super it was the first time messing with the new cable plug. It was a PAIN to hear that click. I actually thought I was going to damage the card I was pressing so hard. But it did eventually click and fully seat, plus I don’t think these draw nearly enough power to cause any worry. Anyone else notice this? -

I think it’s a desirability/demand thing. I refused to upgrade for a while. Mainly because I didn’t want to spend $1800 on another GPU. However, the release of the 4080 Super swayed me. And I imagine it swayed thousands of other people too. This may sound crazy, but It’s actually an amazing value proposition for $999. We get a new and super fast GPU, and we get new features like frame gen and better DLSS. I think all of the millions of 3080/3080Ti/3090 owners were finally like okay let’s grab a 4080 Super too. The 4070Ti Super is just not fast enough for $799.99 or a worthy upgrade, so no one really wanted one. If you’re spending $800 may as well spend $1000. But if you’re spending $1000 we can’t just easily jump to $1600 lol. Thats like buying a 4080 Super and a 4070 Super together. So in the end, I think the 4080 Super probably just has a high demand on it because it’s the “Good enough” high end performance. Now if scalpers would just find something else to do. I am really hoping to get a Suprim-X next week lol. -

I may try another, but I can’t cool it in sustained loads like games anyways to benefit from extra power lol. Need a waterblock which none are available. I did try flashing the Strix OC 420W bios and it bricked my card. Fortunately, I dropped my original bios in the exact same folder and named it MSI.rom, so I was able to blind flash right back successfully after about 10 failed attempts guessing while not being able to see a screen. The main thing that helped was watching my motherboards debug cpu temp jump everytime I hit enter, so I knew something was happening 😀 I was even 2nd guessing my self if I had command prompt open or not. I hadn’t needed to flash anything in years so I was seriously out of practice. -

Or run them like this 😃lol. I’m getting in a few more days of usage before I return this one on Monday. I’m just not fully happy with it. I like the performance of it, it looks nice, it’s built pretty good too, but what I don’t like is that it was $150 dollars extra for pretty much absolutely nothing at all lol. I don’t mind paying another $100-$200 USD over MSRP $999. But it should be pure amazing for all that. Ya know, at least the Suprim includes a mouse pad lol. I think the cooling performance is a little weaker than a 4080 Super FE too. I really want a Suprim X, but I’d take a Aorus Master. I assume everyone on here is against the 4080 Super STRIX OC. I’m going to make sure I get the one I want this go around. Should have done that from the very start. -

That was a while back, even before Northwest repair was a thing on Youtube. It was in 2018 era when I had that one. The 4080 Super PCB’s are a little different though. The Aorus master and Gaming OC look to be totally different designs. The gaming OC 4080 Super uses a full length PCB. While the 4080 Super Aorus Master uses a wider shorter PCB. So unfortunately the gaming OC is not an option. I wish they’d keep a standard here and make things simple. But they have got totally different designs and PCB’s and even different mounting holes on almost every single 4080 Super AIB under the sun. The 4080 Super Aorus master does look similar to the 4090 Gaming OC though. But the 4080 Super Gaming OC is totally different. Not sure why they did this. They should make xx80/90 series fairly similar so we can share blocks. But I’m exchanging mine for sure 100%. 4080 Super Aorus Master, or 4080 Super Suprim X are the top picks. 😁 -

You know, I actually really like the Gaming OC model and the way it looks in person. I had a 2080Ti Gaming OC and I thought it was awesome. It was broken, and the person sold my a dud card that was artifacting 🤣lol. But that wasn’t the cards fault that they scammed me. But, something about the way it looked. I thought about exchanging for the gaming OC 4080S but I don’t see any blocks available for those in 4080S variant. So, I’m either gonna exchange for the Gigabyte Master, Suprim X, or the Gigabyte Aero white model. Why EKWB offers a waterblock for the rest and even the Aero model, and not the OG “Gaming OC” is just beyond me. But that’s a nice card for $1,799. -

Didn't @johnksss buy a Mercedes-Benz from him? What a shame he passed away. He was really great in "The Mandalorian" I was looking forward to Season 3 Mando. 😭He was really one of my favorite characters in the show.. -

This 4080 Super completely stock, auto silent fan profile, 100% power limit, and it is still 15% faster than my full tilt RTX3090 KP. I managed to gain another 8% more performance with an improved fan curve, increased power limit, +1375 mem, and +185 core. So +23% faster in rasterization over my water chilled 3090KP is pretty darn good! 😃 -

Seems we are really limited by voltage for the memory, and we’re limited by power/voltage on the core clocks. My 3090 Kingpin ran like 1.368V to the GDDR6X stock, I could run +1450ish stable. However, once I jumped GDDR6X voltage to just 1.440V I could do +1,800 in games and even more for benching. Not to mention you could push the ram voltage even harder. 😁 up to 1.900V or something 🤣 man, if only all GPU’s were fully unlocked like this. Anyways I made a video of my experience. 1st benchmark was stock with auto fan, and then tuning it. Below looks like Speedway Christmas edition, but it’s really artifacts 🤣 -

Yeah I’m totally fine with a 4080 though, I’m not complaining one bit. Me and my wife are building a new home, and the random expenses popping up weekly are pretty high associated with securing land and the home as well, and we aren’t even at closing day yet so You won’t find me saving for a 4090 anytime soon lol. I just wanted a fast and affordable GPU to replace my aging RTX3090. -

Unfortunately this is the market we are in. RTX4090’s are $1,800 USD for pretty much any model I think. So if you are spending $1,000 or $1,100. That’s all we have available to purchase. Even if you increased the $1,000 budget by 50% and saved a little more you still couldn’t afford a 4090 with $1,500. So the big fancy $1,200 dollar RTX4080 Super with a cruise ship sized air cooler looks appealing because it’s literally the only option for most. -

Yes but unfortunately this thing has a unique looking PCB, maybe it’s the same holes as an FE? But I do not think there is even a waterblock anywhere to use with it that would fit. I’ll have to return it. -

I had no idea Nvidia improved thermal pads on RTX4000 series. That is fantastic and it needed to be done. Honestly, I feel really lucky and blessed to have gotten one, they were selling out pretty dang fast, right after I ordered mine they were gone 🤷♂️ so you are really left with hardly any time to order or even decide at all. But, It’ll be delivered tomorrow 😁. I’m curious how it will compare to a real FE lol. I guess it’s a copy cat FE? So I’m really wondering how out of box thermals will be. -

I tried to buy an FE they were all sold out. I really wanted the Suprim X 4080 Super next though, 😭. It showed in-stock, I went to check out and then said sold out. 😞 I tried to get it though but no go. I was thinking for too long on deciding. I was bouncing all over the place. So, then I tried the Tuff OC, thinking there’s plenty of blocks for those laying around 😁 and it said sold out too. Then I settled for MSI 4080 Super Expert over a few reasons. I can trust the build quality being an MSI so that’s good, it uses much higher quality thermal pads throughout the GPU VS. the 4080 Super FE models with their cheaper white thermal pads. It looks basic and nothing fancy or anything and is pretty much the MSI version of a FE. And it supports FE waterblocks too which will be readily available everywhere. I was afraid of the Zotac because it’s not standard PCB, so waterblock availability left me wondering 🤔 . And I felt super rushed to grab any Super at all honestly.
