That is just insane! Well anyone who didn’t grab one has another 3-6 months for the next batch I suppose. My taxes are 6.75% I believe. I am in North Carolina. Very rarely do I order something online from another state, and they don’t tax me lol. Some odd ball places do not though. That’s amazing. I’d say you got lucky then. Watch your CPU voltage when overclocking memory to higher levels 7800+ range. I left my 13900KS on stock clocks/auto voltages which was stable for any CPU stress test. But I couldn’t stabilize anything for my ram at all beyond 7800+. I was pulling my hair out trying to find the issue. I thought I had broke my motherboard with a FW/Bios update. Turns out, my cpu running stock with auto voltage was actually limiting my max stable memory overclock even though my CPU voltage was on auto/stock and 100% stable. My board is veryyy nice. Running like a champ now that I figured that out. I have some new Hynix 2x24GB rams that’ll be here tomorrow for it. So I overclocked cpu first then ram good to go 🤷♂️ -

Yep Asus has Z790 Apex in stock!! I bet these are same batch as mine. Only mine came straight from China to me. https://shop.asus.com/us/rog/90mb1cf0-m0aay0-rog-maximus-z790-apex.html @johnksssdid you buy one? -

This place has Z790 Apex in-stock (1 left) $748 USD. https://www.grooves.land/asus-asus-rog-maximus-z790-apex-intel-lga-1700-intel-celeron-intel-core-intel-core-intel-core-intel-asus-hardware-electronic-pZZa1-2100734159.html?currency=USD&language=en&_z=us&gclid=CjwKCAjwrpOiBhBVEiwA_473dDi-3k0wgJI7t4pwTVKJ8F-_tBlK4A1piCJt4mmB1rK5BYnhIHuoXhoCJGwQAvD_BwE -

Yeah the Z690 Apex boards were upsetting. I still liked it so much though, I was willing to sacrifice a little memory overclock ability just to use the motherboard. The voltage control was nice, and it ran a CPU stock extremely well. It’s impressive seeing my current Apex drive a 13900KS without power limited to 280 watts under R23 with auto/default stock voltages. @Mr. Fox could also pick up that one Z690 Apex on HWBot with no heatsinks or covers and swap all of the parts over. Both board cost(s) combined would still make it a great deal. I guess I should turn MRC back on. It trains pretty quickly with it off though. It’s not so bad. I’m tempted to grab me some really cool ram now 🤣 and a white PCB 4080 or 4090. The new 2x24GB DDR5 and 2x48GB DDR5 kits are looking good! Speaking of which if I was @electrosoft I’d be grabbing some of the new Hynix A-Die 2x48GB (6400) sets. I think that dual rank A-Die would match well with Ryzen 3D chips. The Apex Z790 is very solid though. I can definitely live happily with this motherboard. I guess I should have had one about 4 months ago. But no worries. Not much of the really cool PC stuff in the US. Right now I’m memory limited though, I have to send 1.650V VDD/VDDQ to stabilize just 8000c34 using my 7200c34 sticks. -

Not really sure why EK didn’t take the more simplistic approach like the Ice man DD block. Im really curious to hear how this competes against the 12th gen super cool DD. -

Glad it’s working okay. DDR5 7000 was definitely working. And it managed to get through “The Last of Us (Vanilla) 30 minute shader compile. This is seriously a tough test lol. I also ran the Aida 64 memory stress test at DDR5 7000 but not for very long. Make sure to disable both MRC fast boot, and regular fast boot. MRC fast boot is in the Dram timing page. I would apply your memory setting of 6800 reboot and hit the retrain button. My Z790 Apex was fantastic out of the box, then I go and update its FW and bios. And it took a turn for the worse, board was horrible man I actually thought I literally broke it. Disabling those 2 items and hitting retrain button fixed me right up, it was literally a magic button (I wish I would have tried this on the Z690 Apex, but I had no idea about it) -

I pulled my Corsair 2TB Hydro M.2 off of watercooling, I just decided to use the traditional “Air” cooling and heat sink provided by the Z790 Apex motherboard. Playing BF2042 for just a few minutes on an open test bench with a fan, my M.2 was running 50C already. And it idles at 36C. I haven’t tested if it throttles. But I’m curious now. The M.2 is under the silver heatsink by the GPU and has (2) thermal pads on it. On another note, this motherboard is the best! I love the color of it. And I’ll check the M.2 speeds to see if it throttles when over 50C. I think I remember the storage controller throttling on these once in the 50’s. Which was the whole reason why I water cooled it lol. -

This motherboard is SICK!!! Asus auto voltages and LLC are always tuned so WELL!!! Stock right out of the box, no adjustment at all. I run Cinebench and my 13900KS hits 287 watts max. That’s simply amazing! This is an SP104 chip. -

Oh I don’t have that many lol. I’ve have tested many 13th gen chips this go around, but I have never owned more than 2-3 chips at once. I will get a 4090 eventually, my go to binned chip is actually a low dog SP104 KS! (Really amazing cpu for being far below average sp) -

Oh I mean’t like wearing out with normal use, but only with numerous mounts and re-mounts. I’m not gonna bend them. -

Another 13900KS (SP117) will be delivered here tomorrow. This is a different CPU from the last (SP117 KS) a member on overclock forums has offered to mail it over for cold water and direct die testing Also, do motherboard CPU sockets ever wear out? Lol. This Unify-X lol so many mounts and re-mounts, and I’m the 2nd owner. -

Hey everyone! I was hoping to get some opinions on this. I want to get (2) new monitors or (1) new monitor. I’m gonna finally be replacing my 2560x1440P@165Hz G-Sync TN and IPS units. These panels have been nice, but I want better colors.. I think deep blacks and good colors is the key for a nice experience. Anyways, With all of the options we have OLED and MINI-LED available. Both are capable of some crazy deep blacks, but I feel like Mini-LED would be more reliable. If you were to spend $1,000-$1,500+ on a panel or panels. What would you prefer? Monitors last me years. So Ideally I’d want something that’s good for 3-5 years with good performance. Any thoughts on this? I’m worried about OLED, but maybe I shouldn’t be. -

Windows 11 Spectre is the best! Ghost Spectre makes a custom catered OS for Gamers/benchers. No bloat, no excess resources burning in the background. My system idles at 0% cpu usage. And the E-Cores are being used now in gaming. Regular Windows 11 just parks them. Run any benchmark before and after and see the boost right before your eyes. Higher Memory bandwidth, lower memory latency, higher 3DMark, Cinebench, CPU-Z bench. They all score substantially higher. Cutting the excess fat off of an OS provides better gaming performance. Less waste, and lower power consumption. Back doors? Who knows Lol. I’m sure windows 10/11 already has those. I’m gaming and working. I don’t keep anything personal on my computer anyways. https://youtu.be/KFDxB_tmxKw -

Same, that’s so funny! I was having a blast playing, then I read through the reviews afterwards thinking, what in the world? Game ran amazing on my rig. Even with older 3090. Such consistent GPU usage, it runs even better with Spectre Win 11, games now uses all P-Cores and E-Cores. It’s really great. -

This is just hilarious! The Last Of Us was a Sony exclusive title forever now. And it’s funny that PC is so popular now, that Sony ports their best games for us 🙂 Well, “The Last Of Us “ was a MAJOR failure!!! The game is absolutely amazing, that is not the issue at all. The issue was the early launch version would compile shaders on launch sucking down lots of CPU power and GPU power all at once literally maxing your PC. I mean, your GPU and CPU are gonna max out and run like that for about 10-20 minutes lol. (The game would crash peoples systems within seconds of launch) the reviews were overwhelmingly negative due to these crashes, and saying exactly what I describe. (Now Here is my point and issue) I was able to recreate this on my very own Z690 APEX “Turd edition” the board had weak memory dimms, and even DDR5 7000 was a stretch. My system was not stable at all!! And “The Last of Us” crashed because of this instability. It wasn’t the game, it was totally fine. It was my computers own stability causing this. With slower memory speeds it was fine on the Z690 Apex. Even with DDR5 8200+ on my MSI Unify-X this would crash. (8200+ was not stable) so it makes sense. Sony released an update that fixed this crashing, but this makes me wonder… is everyone’s system really so unstable they are actually blaming it on the game? I knew “The Last Of Us” did not work on my system with DDR5 8200 with my Unify-X because well, DDR5 8200 was not stable. But, since updating the game and applying their magical “”Crash while building shaders fix”” I can now play it with DDR5 8200… The issue was not the game, but the fact that If your PC was not 100% solid solid solid, it was gonna be wiped out by The Last Of Us during the initial launch version with its heavy load Shader compiling lol. This was actually one of the best stability test around. Because if it closed on compile immediately if your system was not stable lol. Not sure what they did, but they essentially fixed a problem that wasn’t even a problem with the game at all. Too heavy of a load for the average computers I suppose is the only problem. And people are still blaming the game for being crap even though it has been fixed. It is made like this was the developers fault entirely. This is really interesting to me, because the game was always fine so long as your PC was legit stable. Sugi0luver said the exact same thing, when this title first launched. And I quote: “YOU’d better be STABLE for this one” 😂 -

I think very many 4090’s were sold. It has always been pushed as the, grit your teeth and just buy it now type of GPU. It’s super fast and not a horrible deal if you really think about it. I think the 3090/3090Ti wasn’t a terrible value either if you paid normal retail. The 3090/3090Ti was only bad because it had powerful sibling(s) for so much cheaper below it. But look at those GPU’s today with their limited VRAM, we can clearly see which models lasted the longest. 3090/3090Ti/4090 GPU’s should last years and years! -

Yep!!! 😂 The exact motherboard Rev A04. This guy in China has got access to all the great and hard to find cool stuff. He can get Galax HOF 4090 for $2,300 USD. Which is so extremely tempting and it include a Galax HOF 1300 watt power supply with the GPU as a package. It’s all white and has hookups right on the PSU for dual 16 pin pci-e power connectors (No dongles)
