  1. I not only had to take ownership of the en-US folder but also had to edit the permissions to allow full access in order to copy that file. I set them back when finished and now it works perfectly.
  2. I say this as someone who really likes System Shock 2, but the remake of the original is a bit too old school for my liking. I mean, I don't necessarily want a game to hold my hand the entire way, but there's a point where things can become too cryptic. I have no qualms about skipping TLOU part 2
  3. I tried the System Shock remake for a bit and really didn't like it so I'll be getting a refund there. Now playing TLOU Part 1 for the first time. Shader compilation is still a big problem. I didn't realize that it has to do it every time you launch the game. Once in, though, it's one of the most visually stunning titles I've ever seen and after patching it runs surprisingly well on my 4070 desktop, generally about 70 fps with a mix of high and ultra settings at 4K with DLSS on quality mode. The gameplay and controls feel a touch clunky for my liking but it's more than manageable. I do find it rather humorous that I'm playing a Sony game with an Xbox controller connected to a Windows PC using a Nintendo USB-C cable. Diversity is a wonderful thing.
  4. Public pressure seems to have worked, at least to a small extent, with ASRock as they've recently starting putting out much higher quality products. Plus, the new motherboards they're showing off at this year's Computex appear to be in response to community feedback of wanting high-end parts but without unnecessary bling. We can only hope Asus will follow a similar path.
  5. Budget, budget, BUDGET. And "I don't have one but don't want to break the bank" is not an answer.
  6. You need to be far more specific about what features you're looking for, what you intend to do with the laptop, and how much you truly want to spend in order to achieve your goals.
  7. I just received the refund without having to get PayPal involved so that was a satisfactory ending. I've seen the charger for sale on AliExpress now, but I'm not sure if it's the same seller so I'll just wait until they pop up on fleBay since that's where I got my 135W.
  8. Is the store in Westmont not an option? Maybe it would take you less time to get there since you wouldn't have to deal with inner city traffic LOL On a side note, I would say it's a good thing that your payment for the 140W USB-C charger didn't go through because I've been having all kinds of problems with the seller. Long story short, the package was not delivered and is being returned to them. I'm now pursuing a refund, and if I don't get any satisfaction I'll be filing a PayPal claim.
  9. Hit up the live chat on their website. Explain the situation, then they should contact the store where you bought it from to approve the adjustment. Then you would go there, explain what happened, they should see in their system that you're getting some money back, and proceed with the transaction right there. That's at least how it went down for me when I got some money back for my 4080 model.
  10. For what it's worth, I ran CDM on the SSD in my 13900HX Legion Pro 7i and 6800H Legion 5. The latter did see a nearly 50 percent drop in sequential read speeds on battery versus plugged in. Sequential writes were slower as well but within what I would consider the margin of error. The Intel machine saw no difference in performance. However, the Ryzen model gets literally double the battery life of the Intel one, which I can feel in everyday usage. The drop in SSD speeds is hardly noticeable.
  11. Pretty much any wireless keyboard that has an available USB port for charging also supports being used in wired mode.
  12. I have a Keychron Q6 that someone customized for me to be pretty much completely silent. I also have a stock Q1 with Gateron Pro reds that I'll be swapping for the new Novelkeys Cream Clickie switches. I say without reservation that they are the best keyboards I have ever owned. They may be expensive, but the Q1 in particular is a vastly superior product to the pre-assembled GMMK Pro.
  13. Leopold FC980MBT has everything on your wishlist except backlighting. 14. One thing I hadn't noticed in the announcement is that the full 140W is only available over the laptop's USB-C port. When using a Lenovo slim tip to Type-C cable, it tops out at 135W. And while you should take this with the requisite grain of salt, the company claims reasonable gaming performance on a Legion laptop when using the adapter, at least with the RTX 4060. I might just have to benchmark it myself. I don't want to add DOTA2 to my Steam library, but I do have SotTR.
  15. Received a shipping confirmation with tracking number for the 140W GaN charger. Hopefully it shows up in the next two weeks (I paid for the slower delivery option).
  16. I ordered this morning. I got a confirmation from PayPal but not the merchant, but the order status says "processing" so I assume it went through. I can always file a complaint if I don't hear anything.
  17. That's going to be way out of OP's budget and they specified a desire for a 14-inch form factor.

  19. https://www.pcmag.com/news/hackers-leak-private-keys-for-msi-products-making-it-easier-to-attack-them A ransomware gang known as Money Message posts confidential files they stole from MSI, which contain the private signing keys for the company's firmware.
  20. I'd love a display like Razer's where you can switch between 4K/144 Hz and 1080p/240. Even then, that's still not likely to be enough to get me to switch from the Pro 7i. Side note: Lenovo has released an updated GaN charger that supports 140W on 2023 Legions via 20V/7A. It also apparently supports the proper PD3.1 standard via 28V/5A. No idea why Lenovo didn't implement the latter on the laptop itself, but whatever. I just received the 135W 20V/6.75A charger, but I'm probably going to grab the 140W one this week, too. 21. The top end is going to come in the form of the much rumored Legion 9, which I expect will be revealed some time this summer.
  22. Did you set render standby to enabled or disabled in the BIOS? The wording in the menu makes it sound like you need to set it to disabled in order to have it enabled.
