  1. The 11th-gen/3050 model has been put on clearance for $650, so I'd say it's definitely worth a look for someone on a budget: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Gateway-15-6-FHD-Creator-Notebook-120Hz-Intel-Core-i5-11400H-NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-3050-512GB-SSD-16GB-Memory-THX-Spatial-Audio-1MP-IR-Camera-HDMI-Windo/199570916?athbdg=L1700&from=browseResults
  2. Too bad you're not in the US because in the very near future I'm going to be putting up a 2022 Lenovo Legion 5 for sale that would fit your needs just about perfectly and would be well under your target budget.
  3. That is a crock. They'll never see another dime from me, nor will I recommend their products to anyone on /r/GamingLaptops who asks. Is that the same charger that came with 2021-2022 Legions? I'm using that one in my gaming nook and will be selling my old L5 with the slim 230W charger.
  4. I've been meaning to find out if you ended up achieving a resolution to your issue with the SlimQ 330W charger.
  5. You can install the Intel driver suite on a Killer card and it should show up in device manager as an AX211.
  6. Lots of complaints about models equipped with the 4090 that are either less common or don't exist at all on those with the 4080.

G.Skill RAM is DDR5-4800 CL34 Timestamps/proof of ownership: https://postimg.cc/gallery/FScYqRL
  8. How well do they work on Windows devices? I'm sure they're easy to pair, but do they remain as such after you switch to something running Mac/iOS?
  9. The battery in my AirPods is finally giving up the ghost so I'm looking to find a new set of wireless earbuds. I'd like to purchase something that can be used easily with my iPhone, work-issue MacBook, and Windows devices. Price isn't a big concern, but less than $300 would be ideal.
  10. We recently added a second base config 9th-gen iPad because Best Buy had them on sale for $250. My kid uses the older one for some games and talking to his friends on Facebook Messenger. My wife got the new one for content consumption. They work exactly as described. Only thing I wish for is faster charging but such is the way with a device that still uses the Lightning port.
  11. How can you tell whether you have A-die or M-die RAM?
  12. You could throw the question up on the Legion and GamingLaptops subreddits as well. If it is indeed a panel-specific issue, maybe there will be some commonality with people who have other 4000-series laptops that are experiencing the same. I'm with you on the return/rebuy cycle. That's why I'm leaning toward just keeping what I have.
  13. Mine is the CSOT panel so your hypothesis of it being a vendor-specific issue may have some weight. Also, I can't do math, the price difference between the MicroCenter 4080 and 4090 is $350, not $250.
  14. A $250 price premium over the 4080 is much easier to swallow, though again I really don't want to change mine out in light of all the reports of misbehaving RTX 4000 laptops from across the spectrum, yours very much included. My Pro 7i doesn't suffer from the low-brightness flicker in AO dGPU mode so to me that could potentially indicate a problem with the 4090's VBIOS.
  15. Use integer scaling to run games at 1080p on your 4K TV.
  16. Looks like As(s)rock managed to put out a decent budget-priced B650 AM5 board.
  17. I've seen some new old stock 3080 laptops going for as low as $1500 so probably around $1350-1400 for yours.
  18. Side note - the 4090 version has a 1 TB SSD as opposed to 2x1 TB on the 4080. While tempting, I'm hesitant to return mine because I've not had any of the problems that have been reported with a lot of RTX 4000 laptops. Also, based on Jarrod's review, the 4080 isn't far enough behind a 4090 of comparable wattage to justify spending an additional $650 while losing half the storage.
  19. I can use the big 300W brick from my as-yet unsold Legion 5 in all modes. You may want to reach out to the SlimQ folks to see what they say. They seem to be pretty responsive to inquiries from what I've seen.
  20. The 53x.xx NVIDIA drivers seem to be problematic for RTX 4000 laptop GPUs across multiple OEMs. Windows Update supplied version 528.66 for me, and they've been working flawlessly so I'll be sticking with them for the foreseeable future.
  21. Here's Jarrod's review. He tested the MicroCenter special so 4080, 32 GB RAM, and 2 TB storage. Some really impressive performance is on tap if you're maxing out the power limits and fans. It hangs with, and in some cases beats, the 4090-equipped Razer Blade 16.
  22. The 4060 is only marginally faster than a mobile 3060 and not that close to a 3070/Ti.
  23. I'll believe what I'm seeing when they actually have more than one generation of support for the upgradable GPU modules.
  24. Haven't had a chance to take a picture of the card itself, but I did run some tests with a couple more modern games. Crysis Remastered runs surprisingly well - 1440p high settings is around 80-90 fps, more often toward the higher figure. Cyberpunk is a different story - 1440p high settings even with FSR 2.1 on quality mode can't consistently hit 60 fps. I'm hoping CDPR finds a way to add support for Intel XeSS.
