  1. dude wtf, almost 50 million views inside 9 hours 😄 i think ppl are excited? hahaha
  2. oh yes definitely way more finicky. ive popped several intel cpus and compared to this total piece of cake 😄 but when it does work, all the more satisfying! likely wont be coming around to installing the custom TG ihs until next weekend, i need the machine working in the meantime 😛
  3. all cleaned up, protected the SMDs with some fingernail polish from my wife (applied after i took this pic) and off back under the stock IHS with LM and kryonaut on top for some initial testing. luckily the cpu still works 😁 got some baseline results before delidding with CB2024 60 min loop so had smth to compare this to. results aint too bad, -2.5C to -4.7C depending on CCD. so with the custom TG IHS should be even better, especially with double LM under and on top of it 😎
  4. very nice deal indeed, although shipping and customs would bring that up considerably for international customers 😅
  5. sad to hear man, but thanks for the valuable first hand info on current AMD gpus. as for X3D parts dying...welp that in combo with the limited tuning capabilities kinda keeps me from switching over. quite happy with my 7950X, curious to see what its actually capable of, so far ive been focusing on the 4090 and ram, now its cpu tuning time! speaking of which: was a bit more finicky than with intel cpus, where its just one "plopp" and done. due to the restricted movement area @SMDs its a lot of back and worth to make the indium solder layer fail via material fatigue. still, works nicely with the delid-die-mate! cant test the cpu yet since were on the road (wifey driving, baby sleeping, daddy casually delidding on his lap in the backseat 😂), but result looks very promising, no obvious chip damage. ill clean up the pcb, dies and stock ihs and update again once done 😁
  6. yep same here, enjoying my suprim x wwaaay too much, especially with the 1000W XOC vbios 🙂
  7. ah yes of course incl. tax. if you ask me, stating prices without tax is like saying im earning X salary BEFORE tax 😄 looks nice on paper but in the real world doesnt mean squat haha
  8. yep 4090 Suprim airs are drying up fast in europe, cheapest available i can find is at 3230€ lulz. the liquid sku is still available though at 2120€, with the gaming x trio at 2049€ and the base ventus at 1999€. weird...
  9. that doesnt surprise me, Grim Dawn was made by the same team that originally designed Titan Quest 😁 I actually have it, but havent started playing it yet, because i want to finish TQ first (which ive been playing for like 15 years now lulz).
  10. oh i know, i didnt overlook the 2 😄 aw man that would be epic indeed, total conversion of HL2 incl both episodes in UE5 😄
  11. finally done with RAM tuning here! unfortunately i couldnt get 7800 or 8000 stable, no matter what i did. since ive tried two different ram kits and they got very similar results at 6200 fully tightened up, im guessing im either held back by the cpu or mobo. judging from what ive seen online im guessing its the cpu IMC. but that is fine by me, better than to be held back by the mobo 😄 mind you guys, im testing for full 24/7 stability since im using this system for productivity work, as well. if it was just about benching, id just set 8000, go tight on the timings and call it a day 😛 ill be sure to do a write up of all the settings, timings and results ive gotten. i have to say it was quite a ride, lots of info out there is "half truth" when it comes to AM5 DDR5 tuning. tons of things i had to find out myself through trial & error. for anyone whos interested - here is an overview table for DDR5 OC results on AM5 from the german forum hardwareluxx. compared to that i seem to be in the top 5%, really cant complain! 😉 edit: forgot to post the link to the list lulz, here it is: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16jMBDVEvNFkjkJ-RBW5hllsVdHgxVyaGMvY-Fz_ONtE/edit#gid=1418711794
  12. u should totally check out black mesa, its a total conversion of half life 1 with more modern graphics and gameplay 🙂
  13. oooh that looks familiar, FreeFileSync by any chance? 🙂
  14. yeah altho im generally not big on conspiracy theories, that wouldnt surprise me, seeing how little they actually pushed their dedicated mining cards. its not like they went out of their way to initiate big PR campaigns around those.
  15. yeah ive looked into U.2 drives but the connectivity and power consumption are a bit finicky to handle, hmmm.... plus the "lower" capacity kinda bums me out @ 7.68 vs. 8 / 15.36 vs. 16 etc.
  16. hm what kinda Samsung models are you referring to? arent those usually capped in capacity to 7.68TB? here is the adapter i was referring to: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B018AOZ9QM?linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF&creativeASIN=B018AOZ9QM&tag=geizhalspre03-21&th=1
  17. LOL OF COURSE the chinese would come up with something like that to make extra money hahaha. theyre always so creative when it comes to this kinda stuff 😄
  18. huh! i had no idea 4TB capacity for M.2 SATA even existed! nice find 🙂 edit: DUDE! u totally gave me an idea how to upgrade to 8TB drives in a cost effective manner: install 2 M.2 4TB SATA drives into a 2.5" SATA adapter! sure ill lose the extra performance but itll be super cheap and functional, nice!
  19. ah a fellow man of culture @data hoarder 😄
  20. there is, but that would start at like 800 USD. mayyyybe 600 if you can get an amazing deal on it... 8TB is unfortunately not worth it yet in terms of price per TB. 4TB is where its at for the moment.
  21. oooh crap, what kinda bios and SOC voltages were u running? this looks like one of the dreaded blown up X3D cpus....daaaaang i didnt expect smth like that to happen so long after the issue was first discovered and patched. this must absolutely suck for u bud, sorry to see that... keep us updated on ur testing and thoughts on replacement cpus.
  22. dang, that is some fine work right there! one of the OG DTRs that made Alienware a great name....too bad those days are long gone by now....
  23. it depends on the kind ure looking for. for 250 CAD ull likely have to go used and 2.5" QLC, so ur best bet will be the samsung 870 QVO or a used enterprise drive with U.2 connection.
  24. totally understandable, i mean....thats basically what i ended up doing: bigass tower with E-ATX mobo 😄
