no worries, u got the card i was initially planning to get. basically no difference between the 4090 SKUs, except for warranty, noise, temps (limited) and design. performance-wise theres nothing separating them.

wow ure going all out blast from the past and browsing through the classics it seems 🙂 oh nice, had no idea this was actually a sequel! i mainly put that movie on my radar because of the stellar casting, got me curious. but seems like its not that good, hm?

well until now 3200 is still end of the line for SO-DIMMs, unless u wanna go overboard and get one of the 3600/3800/4000 SODIMM kits that were intended for SFF desktop systems (like i did with the G.Skill 3800 lulz). in any case, cant go wrong with those Kingston kits. in the end, u can basically just get any 3200 kit with decent timings (CL22 or faster).

ill take u up on that next time im in or near Arizona, would be a blast to meet Fox in RL! 😄 preach, brothers! companies have gotten reaaaal comfortable with jacking up prices after the pandemic...let them wake up to a nightmare of their own making when ppl finally wisen up to the idea that in times such as these, basics are more important than luxury playtoys... one can hope? 😅 yep saw that vid, just terrible... out of all of Roman's initial hypotheses, the one that was the most difficult and worst for AMD to solve turned out to be the correct one, urgh. not gonna be fun for the Reds to sort this out, big impact on their GPU rep for sure! and worse for the rest of us: less competition for the green goblin 😞 oh ffs microslop, get ur act together and stop making win11 horrible for ryzen cpus 💀 edit: oops, sorry for the cut off quote papu, but u know which one i was referring to 😄 but but but...can your old sofa also do raytracing and pull more wattage than the old one?! 😛 yay, great...nvidia actually doing whats supposed to be done: offering more performance per dollar! as if stagnation in perf/dollar is the new normal and an improvement is something to be applauded, DAFUQ! hows that IceGiant treating ya? really comparable with your previous custom loop? im curious how much of a thermal improvement do those custom RAM heatsinks provide bro fox? -

happy 60th soon then! got anything special planned? let us know so we can all come over for the big party 😎🥳🤠damn dude, retiring at 70 already sounds tough, but extending that by another 5-10 years pretty much seems non-sensical. i mean, statistically speaking, we have 70 healthy years before the aching / illness / old age catches up with us... fingers crossed it wont come to that and ull be able to retire earlier than that! 🙂 LOL now that was a quick OC, damn. -
? speak up bro, cant hear you!

ha, i definitely know what that feels like! 😄

spot on. nothing to add. to be fair, the wording indicates that hes putting out those "predictions" with a tongue-in-cheek mannerism. "Many practice futuristic hypotheses, competing in the proposal of the most unexpected and even absurd," Medvedev wrote, according to an English translation. "We will also do our part." so hes basically calling his own predictions "most unexpected and even absurd". nevertheless, hes not helping anything or anyone with this, just useless rando talk.

about time, we need every member we can get! 😄 welcome to the fold bud, hope you enjoy! keep posting and sharing knowledge, its fun 😉 awesome machines btw, i see youre a man of taste going with Clevo and Tongfang 🙂 haha i think the issue currently is that were still a very small forum, still waiting to breach 1000 members. the most active ones were the hardcore NBR freaks from ye olden days, and naturally they bench, tune and tweak far more than the average user. so theyre also more likely to upgrade more frequently, thus more discussions about newer stuff. but the more we grow, the more we can strenghthen our base! so good to have you guys here to help build NBT 🙂

the decline of the once mighty Nvidia laptop GPUs
jaybee83 replied to 1610ftw's topic in General Discussion
yep, since 2015 in my case. i wouldnt go below 12GB with a new gpu nowadays, rather aim for 16GB for some future-proofing. -
ha ive seen this one before, really curious if this actually works?! pls let us know if u try this out bro fox 🙂 that Nile character really does some funky stuff, i keep stumbling over his content 😄

oh? is that something particular to Norway's warranty policy? sounds impressive -
thats a real kb afficionado right there...dont let it suck you in too much, its a bottomless pit sucking out all the bucks in your wallet 😄
-
awesome news, this is really good luck for you man! keep us updated on your return time and how it goes with the replacement gpu 🙂

What phone are you daily driving currently?

just goes to show how much unnecessary junk usually runs in the background killing your battery life. -
haha yep i also saw it right on the first weekend it was out with my lady, we were impressed! the 3D effects are not so much "in your face", its more subtle and limited to scenes that make actual sense to use it in. so not overblown or tiring. story is basically exactly the same as before, just with a slightly different setting / context. that sometimes feels a bit farfetched, i.e. the reason why theyre actually hunting those big whale-like creatures... so now all of a sudden that hugely expensive ore from the previous movie aint worth it anymore? but in any case, good movie for sure!

damn dude those are some postcard style high quality pics right there, amazing views!

soooo, back from the in law's, seems like ive missed quite a bit here 😄 so lemme dig right in... well well well! seems like u got the card i initially was planning to buy! congratz and welcome to the 4090 club 😎 its lonely up here, so far away from any other gpu right now LOL huh cool, so looks like they finally uploaded that vBios... tbh, i expected more watts though LOL. have u tried flashing it yet? still need to catch up on overclock.net 4090 owner's lounge, pretty sure someone has already cross flashed that vbios onto their 4090 already. so much forum reading and hardware tweaking to do, but so little time, sight... HAHAHA nice! welcome to the 7950X club, about time some others joined here 😛 keep us updated on how it runs! SP ratings, oc / uv potential, i can also see that u chose the arctic LFII 420, runs very well with the 7950X 🙂 sounds like a sausage party ruining GPU prices for us 😄 random / unexpected comment but very sympathetic my man! this reminds me of this brilliant little vid by Simon Sinek. if you ask me, id go with the people I trust pretty much 100% of the time rather than with the overall best performer in a team: not really surprised by this i must say... all signs, at least currently, are pointing towards Intel's dGPU downfall. rumour mill states that they only have a single mid to low end silicon SKU in the pipe for Battlemage and still a measly two for Celestial (if they even get that far). splitting their GPU group into two entities, one for consumers and one for business / professionals is nothing new, they did the same with Larrabee...before its imminent downfall 😅so lets see where the chips will fall.... this sucks. so far pretty "meh" showing of RDNA3. nevertheless, i wholeheartedly think that their chiplet approach will do wonders for AMD in the mid to long term, especially if Nvidia`s only answer remains higher wattage, larger silicon and bigger coolers... that aint gonna work for too long. didnt work for Intel either and voila they pulled E-Cores out of their hat 😄 agreed, it is actuallyn quite decent...but only that, unfortunately. community at large just expected way more, AMD promised too much via their raw specs and initial performance indications at 1.7+ gains vs. RDNA2, which turned out to be more like 1.3-1.4 in the end...just not enough to REALLY compete with Nvidia.....yet. nice find bro@cylix and yep as usually perfectly put uncle FOX 😄 interesting vid you posted btw, was surprised to see the discrepancy between MSI's warranty period (i myself had trouble finding hard facts as to their official warranty periods for gpus, like....wth) and their historical build quality / hardware endurance / failure rate. kinda reminds me of how their 4090 Suprim lineup is the most overbuild of all SKUs in terms of VRM quality, amperage and total amount, but at the same time their stock vBios only peaks at 520/530W vs other crappy entry cards like the Gigabutt Gaming OC offering up to 600W. but ah well, who cares, just crossflash and bobs your uncle... no wait, its Fox! 😄 ah whatta time we live in... gpus being judged by their RGB, loudness / coil whine, ability NOT to burst into flames and NOT to crash your PSU and, most importantly: fitting inside your case 🤣 huh, that reasoning sounds familiar, wonder why..... 😄😉 awesome man, again: welcome to the 4090 club! have u crossflashed anything yet? does it sport dual vBios? u still on the lookout for upcoming X3D Zen4 chips? also curious if their RAM speed capability will be improved, would be nice to close the gap to RPL in this regard. although, to be fair, those crazy 7000+ speeds on Intel are all on Gear 2, whereas all Zen4 speeds are just rated at Gear 1. ha, really curious if ull be able to resist that temptation until this gen is done for 😄 1440p is kind of a waste right now with a 4090, itll be CPU bottlenecked, in some instances even with a 13900K overclock balls to the wall. personally, id always wanna put the system bottleneck on the most expensive component in the system, thus the gpu. anything else would be a waste of resources. thus id recommend 4K. scaling is not a problem if u need larger icons / text, etc. but the overall image crispness / clarity / sharpness is just nice to have 🙂 HUB just posted a nice vid ranking their monitors of 2022, if you need a nice overview on current models: as for 4090 air cooled cards, Zotac AIRO sports the longest warranty at 5 years in europe, whereas Suprim X has the beefiest overall power delivery in terms of amount, amperage rating and quality of VRMs. so these were the two i was most interested in. in the end i got the latter because i got it at MSRP and with next day delivery 😄 happy with the purchase so far! crazy to see what a little CH341a can accomplish. i also still have one of them lying around here and its helped me with my previous 980M and also my lady's 3070 TI (Laptop) to unbrick them multiples times. great little life saver! oh heck yeah, absolutely... 😄 i feel ya man, i absolutely LOVE this gorgeous Neo G8 im looking at right now 😄 but im actually glad i didnt go for the Neo G9, wouldve just been WAY too wide for my desk space hahaha. plus no headaches about non-standard aspect ratios. but the Neo lineup is beastly in general, no doubt about it. regarding the G9 8K successor, i wouldnt worry about it. everything so far indicates that a jump to 8K is just a gimmick and will not bring any actual visual fidelity advantage over 4K. so enjoy your monitor for years to come bud! i know i will! especially at 240 Hz, not even a 4090 can max that out, so itll take at least 2 additional GPU generations to be able and even touch that....and even then only the halo top end SKU.
